Really Nasher . Poorer effort.

The comparison is someone who CAN play at finals pace and do well as to a player still struggling in a rabble.

Reality is Wines is far more polished and capable right now. He is hardly likely to undergo a massive reverrsal. Is way ahead of Toumpas

The fact that you think Nasher's point was poor is just another example of how pathetic your view on this is.

I want Carlton to win, it would be hilarious.

Win win for us, I hate both of them so it would still be ok if Carlton lose, just better if they win.

Looks as if they won't now, though.

It amazes me that so many think that if a player does well in his first year he's destined to be just an ordinary player, whereas a player that is ordinary in his first year will develop in to a star.

There is always the possibility that the player who plays well in his first year will just get better and better, Ollie will be a star.

Go Tiges!

Which ones?

Anyone else see Carlton's water girl?!

No why do you ask?

The umpiring has been terrible, I think to Carlton's detriment. 3 goals from fifties to richmond, 6 goals from frees and double the free kicks to the tiges. I hope the dees get that treatment next time we make a final.

Posted

umpiring very Tiggy  touch. But a bit both ways. Makes it hard to play when its like that.

Come ON Toiges... dont let the scum back in !!!!!!!

And, relevantly, Toumpas will be an elite player.

In due course.

I hope so RB

Because similar thinks were said about Cook, Gysberts, Morton, Bennell, Trengove and Tapscott.

Only Trengove left and he is not exactly setting the world on fire four years and 79 games in.

I have no idea what you mean by 'blinkered to the obvious'.

Your Toumpas-Wines arguments are getting worse by the day.

I'm sure most people on here think Wines will end up a very good player.

That conclusion is not mutually exclusive from arguing that Melbourne did not make a mistake in taking Toumpas.

You are so right! Melbourne missed another star for a potential good playerJust like Martin for Tenners Why do we get it so wrong all the time Just so poor

Perhaps you should re read what I said.

My comment wasn't just restricted to Wines/Toumpas. I was told repeatedly that Cook would develop in to a very good player, I said he wouldn't; which side were you in that argument.

Please please don't let that insufferable bunch of [censored] at Carlton win. Between Judd and Robinson I can't decide who's head I'd rather punch first.

Your argument was clearly made in reference to Wines-Toumpas, so I'm not sure what point there is going on about Cook (who, for the record, I thought was a terrible draft choice).

Yes, you're absolutely right, having a good first year may mean you end up have a great career. But at the same time, having a good first year might mean nothing about where you end up in your career. Thus, the mere fact Wines has had a better first year than Toumpas does not mean he is the better player overall, and thus does not mean we should have taken him.

I've argued the point repeatedly, and will continue to do so.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
