So, would you trade Watts & some pick to Adelaide then, for a Sloane...

yeah.... But the picks would have to be late.... Still not changing my vote here though.... And I'd trade Watts for Jurrah because i know getting Jurrah back would get my kids back in red and blue....

You wouldn't need to trade Watts for Jurrah as Yuendumu has no room for Watts in their forward line. Be nice to see Jurrah back not only for your kids but also to get to get the 'big kids' back watching the game.

I also think that we would be making a big mistake to trade Watts [and lose another No. 1 draft pick] as in the long-term we will do a lot better by continuing to develop his substantial skills which got him selected in the first place. Let's all stop being armchair experts however and see what the new coach's view is!

Anyone else see Nathan Jones instagram last night... for some reason, I have a feeling that was directed at our jack.

I don't even know what an instagram is! What was the substance of it?

Something along the lines...

"I dont trust words, I trust actions"

I could be very wrong, but just had a feeling....

With our new list management, head of recruiting and beefed up recruiting team, how is it that you know they will deem Watts more valuable than an ND30? You don't, so why assume that he is worth more than an ND30?

stmj, you are the one who wants to back in our new FD and player developemnt capability when it comes to a prospective recruit in Chris Yarran.

So do we extend that to Watts?

Ultimately, the club might not have the luxury to choose what they do with Watts. But when it comes to list management I am ruthless and dispassionate - there is no personal feelings to be hurt by comments in public, no expectations to be disappointed - we have X amount of assets for next season, let's use them in an resourceful manner to get better for next year.

If he is worth more to us then what we can get for him - keep him.

Has talent to burn no question, but if we were to be offered a first round pick say 10-15 or something i'd personally be seriously considering it

you're correct Jack Watts is an asset, so many young kids with number 4 on their backs, he has the versatility and skills to play any position and a good coach might be able to turn him into an absolute star of the game, but he may decide to walk anyway.

If Jack watts wants to stay we keep him unless we get a crazy good offer, if he doesn't we settle for nothing less than a first round pick or a quality experienced player or he ends up at GWS, carlton and Freo are both pretty interested imo so they won't be letting that happen, carltons first round pick would be a pretty decent chance of being offered

We wont be offered a first round pick...they're gold. Be lucky to get a second rounder and Id take it.

If the lad hasn't the stomach for putting in 100% then for all the potential in the world he isn't worth didly on game day.. This is a point some here agree on and some persist in ignoring ( for mine ).

That Lord jack needs to know his new master speaks more of conditional buying in as opposed the unconditional type... a-la Jones Graland Viney and some others.. They will play for the jumper irrespective. Jack only wants to if it suits Jack. well im jack of that I thought this kid had something and was prepared to pander to time and development. Turns out that snot it at all. he just hasnt the ticker for it.

Dont let the door hurt you sook on the way out.

Yeah, we don't get to fire a coach because he had terrible player management skills and then call players sooks for not signing up before a decision has been made on a new coach.

I think he would be more against what we are all against - another young coach that doesn't know how to handle a group of footy players, turn them against each other and use Jack himself as an example before even coaching a game.

Because all that happened with the last guy we appointed for those with convenient memories.

I think the "Gen Y" thing has a lot to do with attitudes. Why or how can you say it's discriminatory ? What is discriminatory about it ? The older the world gets the softer and more demanding the generations have become... I am stating the facts as I have seen them over a few decades, Spoiled Brats many elite sportsmen of the Gen Y era are... Inflammatory ? hardly... That is exactly what's wrong with a lot of Gen Y's.......Soft.. toughen up !! None of them know what it is like to play on muddy grounds or feel a shirt front from an opponent or even a bloody good bump.. The game is becoming as soft as Watts... I expect to be howled down by some on here but I am not easily upset.. Fire away... I am not "Gen Y" they didn't exist until someone thought of a fancy label to put on them..I want to see more real men playing for the MFC...Men with pride in the jumper they are playing for (and getting well paid for)..Rant over... Not enough time to write a hundred pages on the subject.. which wouldn't be too hard..

From a Gen Y poster, you're an [censored]! way to paint a whole generation with the same brush. Some people have mongrel others don't, its not a generation thing its a personality thing. We choose a Prius over a v8 in the terms of mongrel. Bye Jack thanks for 6 good games out of 70.....

well its simple then... if he has nothing to prove to us, by his desire... he walks.

Sylv is free to walk as well, but i sense he feels he has something to prove to us, & himself.

I'm surprised you don't understand that BB

Let the 'mongrel' start......

Watts is out the door....don't give a [censored] what for (trade wise)....just moving him on would be a positive for the team.

(Mongrel = realism.)

It time to go Watts

Who do you think made them soft?? Maybe the generations are more demanding because there are increasing problems in the world that the next generation has too fight. This is totally discriminatory and patronising. For someone of your 'status' as a superior this is incredibly childish.

Back on topic, we need more guys like Jack Viney and less like Watts. Watts represents everything wrong with this club and I hope more people stop seeing him as a #1 pick who will come good and more of a weak Brighton Grammar Boy.

A bit of a bias against Brighton Grammar? Bit uppity for you? What the hell has the school got to do with Jack Watts? No one who is good enough for the AFL is WEAK or SOFT.Would you call Watts that to his face?

Still too much potential there that hasn't been realised due to a very dysfunctional club on so many levels. All this is finally being addressed and people want to trade him.

FMD, the whole team is playing like sht. Watts is down on confidence.

Another 6 kilos muscle on him and he'll be a monster.

I'm refusing to say he's not going to come good at the MFC.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
