Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Not the best of news from our point of view because the Bombers seem to lift every time they are under pressure on this issue.

Of course, the actual serving of the notices is different and will inevitably be an even bigger distraction than anything that's occurred on the past.

But what about the poor players?

Oh, the Humanity!

How long between show cause and infraction notices? I thought it was quite soon?

ABC news reporting that notices have been issued to 34 current and former players, not just from Essendon, but other clubs as well.

Could that include any MFC players, or would they be referring to former Essendon players now at other clubs, e.g. Monfries at Port Adelaide?

No conspiracy theorists wonder why it's announced roughly 12 hours before the World Cup starts?

Given the AFL is paying their legal costs before the case then goes to the AFL tribunal, I am skeptical as to whether any action will be taken at all. I wonder if Ahmed Saad had his legal costs covered when he brazenly sculled an energy drink at a seven eleven. He did drink it off site after all.

How unlucky was that poor bastard? Not attached to a power club, not a big name - he is hung out to dry. Total bull shite!! Apparently the drink was legal on some days but not others!!! It is beyond belief!!

They have 10 days to respond and prove they did not take any banned substances.

Pretty quick turnaround however I'm sure they all would have had their response planned a while ago

That was probably more at the beginning of the process. Now it's been 18 months or so IMO it would no doubt be draining on the players. Well hopefully.

Could Trenners get a show cause notice?

Possible, but I think it would be all the Essendon players from that time, we will follow in months to come if at all.

You'd think at this stage it would just be limited to former Essendon players:

Monfries at Port

Crameri at Bulldogs

Gumbleton at Freo

Focus will come later on the Trengove issue

How unlucky was that poor [censored]? Not attached to a power club, not a big name - he is hung out to dry. Total bull shite!! Apparently the drink was legal on some days but not others!!! It is beyond belief!!

however from asada's point of view he failed a routine match-day drug test

it was only the player's word (unprovable) as to the source of the match day banned substance and under the asada code irrelevant unless someone else administered it whilst he was unconscious and can prove it

Not unlucky, Saad was incredibly stupid. The supplement is legal when not in competition. Saad had been warned on multiple occasions and still consumed on match day.

Saints were filthy. Gave him a (controversial) farewell game against the Lions knowing full well they would delist him at seasons end.

Posted

What I was getting at was that Saad consumed a commercial drink of some sort and was done like a dinner. Essendon players were taken off site and injected with some as yet unknown substance and still nothing has been done!!

I read it as nothing to do with anyone other than current or ex essendon players. And the age says it relates to Thymosin Beta 4, not AOD, which is what Trengove was alleged to have put on his foot.

I thought I read a few weeks ago that Trengove was found to have no case to answer. Can someone confirm this?

All issued notices were apparently Essendon players of which it could be as many as 25 current players on their list (at least, I think that's what Robbo said on AFL360).

I still find it mind blowing that this is happening let alone the some of their fans with their heads in the sand.

I would be even more gob smacked if they got off.

On 360 Gerard said that those who signed the forms that has Thymosin on it would need to prove it was the non banned substance and not beta-4

Ps interesting to note ASADA did NOT leak the notices were being handed out today.

PPS I wonder if James was enjoying his croissant this morning...

The makor issue will be a under 22 yo player who takes the risk, pleads guilty to get a shortened sentence{maybe} and get his 18 months out of the road and still have a career.

As soon as one breaks rank shes all over.

It's going to be interesting to see how they respond to this on the park this Sunday.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
