Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Injury would be the number one reason.

Number two is the quality and depth of Freo's settled and experienced midfield.

The third would be Ross Lyon's strong development program for young kids coming through, especially ones who have had barely one pre-season to their name.

The fact that he's played one AFL game means very little to me. It's about the environment he's been in for the past three years and the tutelage he's received. He wanted to come home and we snagged him. Freo weren't happy.

He is already far more valuable to our side than a lot of our mids who have little ability and have been brought up in a basket-case of an environment under terrible management and next to no leaders.

We should be overjoyed that we, the MFC have snagged this youngster.

You will not get an argument from me on that one.

I have been burnt way to often by our "wonderful recruit " syndrome

Called it negative if you like but right now he is player with an injury history who has played one game.

Freo let him go

Not the best sign to me.

Lets hope he is the surprise recruit of 2014.

Obviously we can't exactly brag about ours but a lot of saints fans would like to know about this Ross Lyon development program. I think a few of them would feel Ross is great at developing the best 22 but no so young players.

As for Michie I think it's rational for the level of expectation to be on similar levels to Kent or Evans. There's a lot to like and a lot of reasons to be cautious. So cautious optimism is the best theory but that's ok. I'm really hoping he's fit and on the park for nab challenge and round 1 so we can see him play

Couldn't break into a Grand Final midfield. What a hack.

I can see you're reserving judgement OD.

However you do realise the context of the Michie trade vs the context of the proposed Greenwood trade are polar opposite? One couldn't get a game because he is a limited player. The other couldn't get a game because of the reasons I've listed, (in my opinion).

Freo not letting him go is not an indication of anything. You need to let go of the idea that it means he 'mustn't be that good.'

How many kids do we see leave clubs to go home? Many. Are their clubs happy? Definitely not, but what can they do.

What, the language of being sarcastic?

I think you may need to read up a bit on it old chap.

What important is actions and results, everything else is BS.

See OD comments above in Post 42 as I agree 100%.

Why do you believe Freo letting Viv leave is 'not a good sign' then?

No one knows yet.

But time will tell us all if it is or is not a good signing.

Saw him at Falls a few weeks back. He's a big unit, has a great size on him and really stands out in a crowd.

Hoping he has a huge influence at our clubs, I think he'll kill it.

WHAT?! At Falls Festival? How dare he have fun on New Years Eve. He should be training!

Spoke to a current player today , he said Mitchie will start at Casey.

New players to come in to the team he thinks are :

Cross - absolutely flying

Vince - really good

Tyson - doing well

Hogan - gun

Clark - foot is fine, hamstrings struggling because of extended lay off.

Is that an indication that we won't be seeing Michie during the practice games?

I can't imagine he'll miss round one if he shows good form throughout the pre-season games... Unless of course this player knows something he didn't share with you about Michie. Perhaps he's injured?

Care to share who the player was?

I did not see him play as he played for Peel and I am a West Perth Supporter but I do live close to Peel home ground.

If I remember correctly Peel finished last on the ladder in 2013, so I guess any reasonable player would stand out in that side. Mind you being a host club in 2014 they should play off in the Grand Final in 2014.

There is a large difference between the WAFL Standard of play and that of the AFL. The MFC has had so many good VFL standard players over the past 7 years but lacked AFL standard ones.

I like every MFC Support want Michie to be successful, but I want to see what he can do on the field first before I get excited.

Next thing people will start talking about him being Captain LOL

I am also a garlic muncher long time Cardies fan but attend at least 1 WAFL game every week. He stood out at Peel because he found his own ball which I would argue is harder to do in a bottom side. As others have said he was trying to break into a very very good midfield. I don't think anyone is talking him up as a Brownlow medallist but IMO we have picked up a hardened big bodied mid who has a few good pre-seasons behind him coming from a good culture and who's club really did not want to let him go

If I remember correctly, when Roos was a t Sydney he didn't give a flying about the NAB Cup and I hope he adopts a similar approach and uses it almost exclusively to give blokes like Viv, Hunt and Salem a run.

Not yet.

He played 0 AFL Games.

Plus he from Claremont, its had to break old passions LOL

FMD well in that case

Alan Johnson - Perth Demons

Earl Spalding - Perth Demons

Alan Jokovich - South Fremantle

Shane Wowoedin - East Fremantle

Jeff Farmer - South Fremantle

Alistair Nicholson - Claremont

Steve Armstrong -Perth Demons

Dean Kent - Perth Demons

All must be not worthy, don't recall West Perth being a good production line for us

You would of picked I was a Garlic Muncher supporter from my favorite players list.

Unfortunately I don't get to WAFL games as the week ends are time I send with the wife as we live apart during the week plus the Falcons are on the other side of Perth. So I saw one WAFL game last season and its was the Grand Final. What a game, I am still pumped!

Plus the second Host Club has just about killed my interest in the WAFL. I became a MFC Supporter when they did it the first time as I hated the WCE for destroying the WAFL.

I do hope your assessment is right, but I will need to see what he can do before getting excited about him.

Currently I have no interest in any of the current MFC players list besides one or two players. I do so missed Green, Bruce, Yve, Neitz and Co, now those guys were worth watching.

Unfortunately the MFC has become a Club of spin and had the greatest Wednesday Whiteboard Nights in the League but could not back up its words with actions. So lets see what Roos and PJ can do in 2014.

How could Ray Holden fail in the MFC?

Darren O'Brien played 24 Games

Craig Turley played 16 Games

Stan Heal played 8 games including the 1941 GF win and the next week played in the West Perth GF victory as well.

I think it the crappy recruiting that lets the best West Perth Player go to other Clubs. Well that my excuse and I will be sticking to it LOL

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
