Out- Older players

In - Tynan, Taggert and Strauss

The only game we won early in the year was against Port Adelaide ( and haven't they been good) where we went with a younger side with players that wanted to win and had grown up in a winning culture. I believe half the problem is some of our players have not won on a regular basis for so long they have forgotten how to win. Instead of going out expecting to win they go out to play with no confidence about winning.

I think that you will find that it was Greater Western Sydney playing at the MCG, (a team that has subsequently embarassed us by exposing us as the worst team in the AFL).

McKenzie will come back in.

I don't particularly rate him, but how can you not bring in your number 1 tagger (coming off a 30 possession game at Casey) to take on G Ablett?

Howe should be dropped or played in a position where he can have more of an impact - wing or half back flank.

Is Magner eligble to play?

No it was Port Adelaide in the preseason at Renmark (I think that's what he means)

I agree with TU - Howe was putrid

I had forgotten about that game. A rare win against what we [wrongly] thought was a bottom side. But still most teams claim they don't try in the pre-season practice games or NAB Cup.

I don't think Magner is eligble, however let us not confuse VFL standard players with AFL standard players as he has been promoted previously and found wanting.

Nice to see you so confident about McKenzie coming back in though I am not so sure that he is the best option for Ablett.

In McKenzie,Nicholson, Strauss, Dawes(if Fit)

Out Davey, Tapscott, Toumpas, Gawn

Clisby McDonald Pederson

Strauss Garland Terlich

Nicholson Jones M Jones

Dunn Watts Trengove

Kent Dawes Fitzpatrick

Spencer Sylvia Viney

McKenzie Grimes Howe Byrnes

We need some sort of defensive pressure up forward, move Dunn as that defensive forward, for all of Trengove's poor form at least he can stick a tackle.

Drop HOWE? What?

Yes... Drop Howe.. He has been non existent over the past few games. Needs a run with Casey.. As you can see by my profile Howe is/was one of my favourite players but he has dropped right off like a few others and he now looks to me as though he is just running around looking to take one of those "marks" he is known for. Unfortunately he is beginning to look like that is ALL he will be known for. Sorry Jeremy but you need to convince me you can pick up a few hard ball gets... I am taking a step back from you until you show more. Drop Watts as well .. He is an absolute waste of space. Let him look for a team with a coach that suits him as that appears to be what he is looking for...Be prepared for another hiding... We will not improve until we improve our list... 2014 ???? Who knows..

Give TYNAN,TAGGERT,DAVIS and DOM BERRY ago before it's too late.........career wise. DAWES probably won't play.................draft pick at stake.

MAGNER can't play..... not 100% sure...........he is still on the rookie list,CLISBY a rookie is a a sub for CLARK. What was the purpose of keeping mature aged players COUCH and MAGNER on

the DEES list!!!.

I don't care who is dropped but it's time to have a look at the rest of the list..

Play Tynan, Davis and Barry. As well as blease and Straus..

Daveys is finished.. Brynes won't be around next year.. You can't play Spencer Gawn and Fitzpatrick.. On form Spencer was better than Gawn.. So out Gawn in Dawes..

They have to look forward to next year.. Because the likes above deserve a look to see if they can cut it or be cut.. No point them sitting on the list for another year if know one knows what they can do..

Thoughts?

Careful Rookie Demon.. You won't be liked by many on here. You are too honest and cutting too close to the bone..... :) Good luck mate... lol

I find it funny on another thread we are talking about Jack Watts and playing him before he was ready and this thread we are putting up players that aren't ready. There is no point playing those players they will learn nothing from playing for the MFC over the next 4 weeks in fact the opposite we are that bad by playing them could hinder them going forward. Let them play with Casey, look forward to finals get them playing well consistantly at Casey over the next 6 weeks

Agreed - it would only result in them losing their confidence and drive (like the rest of the team)

Taggert and Barry are not ready, Blease and Toumpas should still be at VFL.

But we need to find out if Davis, Strauss and Tynan are up to it. (Jetta is doomed).

It's hard to tell on TV but did Howe spend most of the game at full forward against GWS? I wonder whether he's suffering from being expected to be the second main forward, after Watts. I don't like playing Howe up the ground, but he's always going to struggle if we expect him to be a key position forward. We had the same problem many times when we expected Russell Robertson to play full forward. I agree Howe hasn't contributed much lately, but if Dawes comes back, I'd like to see Howe playing as the third key forward and leave out Gawn (or Fitzpatrick if he's injured or "needs a rest").

I think Nicholson should come in for Davey to tag Ablett. I doubt McKenzie could keep up with him. And while I don't think Byrnes was our worst, I'd rather play Blease than him because I doubt Byrnes will be playing next year.

I don't think we can really judge any of our forwards until we actualy have a midfield.

You can't expect him to play great when the ball hardly comes down there and when it does it comes very slowly and with poor delivery. We need to get the ball through the midfield quicker so the defenders don't have so much time. With a strong midfield and Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Watts and Fitzy at his side he will be getting the 3rd or 4th defender.

As for Nicholson, Byrnes and Davey - we will never be a good team when one of them is playing for us.

Out: Trengove, Grimes, Dunn, Watts, Gawn, Byrnes, Gillies, Davey

Pedersen, Garland (can't run as injured ankle)

In: Blease, Strauss, Magner, Joel MacDonald, Jetta, Davis, Taggert, Barry, Stark

Would also give Couch a run if he wasn't injured.

The team is overall full of lazy, gutless players who don't care. They will lose this week for sure in another embarrassing display of ineptitude and psychological lack of motivation. They don't enjoy playing footy at present. They don't care about winning and are just praying for the season to be over. I say play the younger guys and rookies. Leave out the dead wood. Give the younger guys a go.

End of season delist or trade Jamar, Davey, Sellar, Pedersen, Gillies, Dunn, Gawn, Rodan, Watts (trade), Trengove (trade while still has any value). I still believe we may have seen the last of Mitch Clark unfortunately.

Please elaborate? Lol

There are some posters on DL who seem to take exception to posts which do not quite comply with what they consider factual (in their eyes) or in line with their thinking... I experienced this when I was a Rookie Demonlander....I have "clashed" with them in the course of my postings, but do not want to bother going over that ground again because happily they now do not bother me... I found that if I disagreed with them I was personally berated or insulted but as I said then and still say now I was not in the least bothered... I am happy with what I write and wouldn't write it if I wasn't... I enjoy most of my communication on DL and am happy to say that while we are going through bad times at the moment I am confident our day will come... Well, sort of... lol... .

Wow ! Don't hold back... Unfortunately you may be hitting a nerve, so to speak. Most of those who are not enjoying themselves or not giving there all are being paid the kind of money I I wouldn't mind receiving for sitting around most of the day doing stuff all... That to me is where the MFC is wasting a lot of cold , hard cash and a lot of it Members hard earned...

I believe adam came through as a priority draft pick for the Jerusalem water wells

he never played at full back and was drafted as a forward, it was his junior year that he played in the backline and showed the right stuff that sent the water wells members into a state of frenzied devoutness and even got him on the leadership group for the following year. alas he career petered out after a olive oil enrichment scandal. you can read about this in the old isreali herald reports by mighail sheazan

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
