No point playing my first two outs ever again. These guys are both too slow.

Clisby is tiny and Davey is not having a full dip.

How does Blease keep his spot? He did nothing. Almost literally nothing.

Just watching GWS, Dylan Shiel had the ball in the back pocket and went straight into fifth gear, arched his back and ran away. Melbourne players tend to stop, look around and then run. By running straight away he is giving himself space and more time to dispose of the ball and make the right decision.

I'd put Chip away for the year.

Hammy problems on three separate occasions this year.

Rest Nate Jones.

Several boys from Casey need to play 4 or 5 games before the year is out.

Dont get me started on pederson, the bloke is that unfit and fat, he is not afl standard.

Kent + Clisby need a rest.

Davey had an off day as did much of the team.

I love Tappy but [censored], cut some kilos and get some miles into his legs!

Coming in, I want magner in, i have been questioning why he's not playing all year,

I want couch given another go, he should be elevated - he and magner destroy vfl. often 30+ disposal, 5+ tackles, leading in clearance and hard ball gets.

Is that niot what we are needing? apart from the obvious need of an additional classy mature mid or two

garland to come in if fit, if not give davis a go cause the big pedo was horrendous.

Terlich comes in if alls well.

Are you suggesting we should perhaps not play our best side at this late stage of the year?

It would be worthwhile for those who want to consider next week's team, it's worth noting the best players at Casey today.

Hogan Magner Strauss Taggert Panozza Jetta

Obviously, Jesse Hogan's not eligible and nor is Casey skipper Evan Panozza but the other four mentioned in the panel above are worth giving a try. One other who might be a chance is Josh Tynan who's improved during the season and who has a dip.

Blease also covers both of those aspects, so how does he avoid being dropped?

OUT- Blease, Davey, Pederson, Byrnes

Blease just gives us the odd vague hope of scoring a goal, which is nice in a game sometimes.

Sadly, I think you're right on the button about Aaron. His days are numbered.

Cooked!! He should be told that he won't get a Tackle stat for slapping someone on the bottie.

I double check the rule every week, just to make extra sure Hogan can't play. Sadly they seem to remain static.

Agreed except for Jetta, he has neither pace nor skill.

Time to stop treading water and find out more about our list...

IN: Taggert, Tynan, Davis, Jetta, Spencer, Strauss

OUT: Who cares

Make or break for spots on our list.

Spot on its make or brake for some players to many list cloggers and it's time to see who can play and want to play for the jumper

Not that I really give a [censored] about this season anymore, but if I see Dunn and Pedersen in the team next week, I will officially go off the rails and lose it.

Two of the most pathetic, extrodinary poor footballers going around. Dunn has been screwing us for years, and Pedersen is just an enormous facepalm moment from our dearly departed Neeld. Horrendous.

Time to bring in those who have been serving time in the VFL and find out if they are worth retaining. If we don't do it now, we will never know.

Davis, Strauss, Jetta, just bring them in and let them play. They can't possibly do worse than lose by 120 points!

P.S.- NO GILLIES!

totally agree about Dunn and Pederson, absolute crap players and should never play senior football again.........

Want to see Taggert this week, it's about time for him now.

Out: Frawley/Pederson, Davey, Kent

Ins: Terlich, Garland, Taggert

No way in hell do we drop Dunn after that game, he was close to BOG for us today (not that that says much after a showing like that). He had one disastrous clanger wehn he went across goal and hit a North player on the chest, but aside from that his field kicking was very good today and he smashed his opponent.

Pedersen has to go. I don't care if we need to pay him out on his three year contract, he is a disgrace. Didn't win a 1-1 once today, was consistently led to the ball and I'm pretty sure he didn't nail a spoil all game either. 13 uncontested possessions and 10 uncontested marks sun him up as a player. Happy to take the freebies but can't contest.

Davey had the defensive impact of a wet feather. He floated around in space while his man ran away and created overlaps all day. Created nothing, didn't give us anything in attack or defence. Inexcusable for a senior player.

We can also pick and choose between a number of players who refused to put their body into the contests today and/or tried to float around the outside while someone else did the work. Watts, Howe. Davey (again), Blease and M Jones were all guilty. Watts at least pulled his finger out as the game went on. The others not so much.

Outs: Pedersen, Davey, Kent, ?

Ins: Davis, Strauss, Garland, Terlich

Taggert would be a great pick as emergency and half a chance to come in. He's performed well for a few weeks although dominating the Casey reserves doesn't really count. I'm just not sure we can fit him in given who is due to come back.

A little harsh on Kent, but he needs to get his mojo back. Seems to have lost a bit of zip and confidence.

Out- Trengove, Toumpas, Kent, Dunn, Byrnes, Pedersen, Tapscott

In- McKenzie, Magner, Jetta, Nicholson, Garland, Terlich, Taggert.

Trengove's time is up, no matter what he does behind closed doors or what honours he has. I'm not wanting Toumpas in the team until he becomes something more than a skinny kid who has been brainwashed into playing footy a certain way. I'd rather not see Byrnes or Pedersen in Melbourne colours. I'm sick of Dunn. Plenty of the ins I mentioned have played decent footy. And unearthing Taggert will at least keep people interested and it's about time another guy debuted

Saw Casey, think Magner could make a difference at AFL level. No sure about see anyone else in that team who is eligible could. Not to say Taggert and co do not deserve a chance. Spencer threatens, was complaining about an injury though.

In- McKenzie, Magner, Davis, Garland, Terlich, Taggert

Out- take your pick there's plenty to choose from

Sadly I think next week will be another dark day in Dees history.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
