You Know What's Scary?

Our team this week sounds very close to a lot of Demonlander's first 22 at the start of the year (Barring one or two)

What if we don't perform with this list?

B: Lynden Dunn, Colin Garland, Dean Terlich
HB: Tom McDonald, James Frawley, Mitch Clisby
C: Jimmy Toumpas, Jack Trengove, Jack Grimes
HF: Colin Sylvia, Jack Watts, Shannon Byrnes
F: Aaron Davey, Chris Dawes, Jeremy Howe
FOLL: Max Gawn, Jack Viney, Nathan Jones
I/C: Matt Jones, Dean Kent, Sam Blease, Jack Fitzpatrick

Your right, really the only players that could come in and make that a better team is Clark and Jamar, McKenzie would be on the fringe. No issues if we don't perform we have Clisby, Kent, Terlich, Toumpas, Viney, Gawn, Fitzpatrick add in Blease, Watts, McDonald, Howe, Grimes and Trengove with plenty of improvement in them if we can get the right people in our football department.

I'd have Michael Evans ahead of a couple in that side

There are IMO eight players listed that would not get a game in another AFL side this week.

There are three kids that should not be playing but being developed in the reserves this year.

That leaves 11

No wonder we cannot beat time with a stick.

I like the fact Craigy has only made the 1 change this week and that's because Viney is ready to go (glad it was Nicholson omitted)

Let the boys gel, play some back to back footy and we actually may win some games.

Never liked the 5-7 player changes that Mark Neeld use to do.

Does your question refer to this week, or to the coming 12 months? There are many very inexperienced, but good players there, so I am more interested in the medium term than necessarily one week.

In fairness to him, every week people were calling for wholesale changes. But I definitely think the idea of a settled team helps build confidence and trust in each other. Will be interesting to see how Gawn and Fitzy go this week, Maxxy fought hard last week in tough conditions and Fitzy barely got a look at it because the ball never made it down to the forward line. This will be equally tough conditions for them with the humidity and slickness of the ball.

Have a feeling Viney will relish this conditions.

I don't think anyone did. More than half the team would be omitted if it wasn't Melbourne. But the fact is, it is Melbourne, we just have to make deal with what we have and changing 5-7 players each week can't help the inexperienced side we are.

I'm happy to see the current 22 play out the season. Only players to be pushed out would be for Clark (if he even returns this year) and Jamar.

I have a feeling they'll really give the Lions game a good crack.

Totally agree with you old dee. Just hope they put in that effort like they did with the Swans. That's been my favourite game to watch all year. They really put in.

In the last game,

9 players 30 games or under

7 players in the 30-100 games bracket

Garland is at 95 games, 25 years old. They always talk about that age and games played as the time you really hit your best footy, and thats exactly what has happened with Garlo.

Ask that question in 2 years time, when the first year players are closer to 50 games, and the 50-60 game players are closer to 100.

I heard this from DB for 4 years and while the principle may be true if you pick players who are not good enough it never happens.

How many of his picks that were going to be very good around 2014 are still at the club?

I used to say in 2010 and I am still saying it, we need good experienced players to bring these kids along.

It was the missing element in 2010 and is even worse now.

We should use every draft pick this year on good 25 year olds.

Yes I know easier said then done.

this current best 22 is very good and inexperienced. i anticipate a large chunk of these 22 getting lots of games under their belts and becoming good experienced players.

Theres only a few players i can think of i'd put back in:

Michael Evans

Mitch Clark

Jesse Hogan (next year)

very encouraging and stoked to see Viney back

i dont like that theory.

still need an aggressive young midfielder as there arent many in the free agency or willing to be traded to Melbourne.

Find an agressive inside midfielder in draft.

than we should do our best to get another young star, hard midfielder

The thing with Nicho is he trains like an elite AFL sportsman and you have to give the man credit for that, the problem is he cant kick, you sort of have to feel sorry for the guy, if he had decent disposal he would probably make 3 million in the next 9 seasons, but he cant hit the side of a barn from 30 metres, the guys a liability.

He reminds me of a softer Simon Godfrey.

But Godfrey got 100 games out of himself because he knew his limitations and played accordingly.

Nicholson manages to look up see an option that only 5 blokes in the team can hit - an option he always misses - and say to himself 'yeah, I can hit that.'

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
