Alan Stockdale wants to be President

The club needs to stop looking in its rear view mirror and start looking forward. Leave the past in the past, Stockdale belongs in the past.

You have my vote dr.

As redleg has mentioned where has he been the last five years?

Stay in Canberra at Liberal HQ

We do not need you

But we will be polite about it, take Kelleher, and thank you to stay in the fold.

Some of you burn so easily.

At this point, he has done nothing more than give some deflating (in more ways than one) comments to a reporter about his efforts to be involved in the club.

Let's not keelhaul him just yet.

I dont know it at all tbh DC

We have no effective board currently . Yes members but not a fully working version or indeed a leader.

Decisions affecting the club are effectively made away from the club. The club isnt underwriting its existence some other body is.

We have no practical automony at present.

Whats that i hear.....quack !!!

bb, it may well be "virtual administration" but it is not "full administration"

ok it may seem to you i'm splitting hairs but i think full administration would be quite different

had to lol about your "no effective board" comment. Am scratching to remember when we last did

btw isn't AS now on the board (might be wrong). if so, i don't think jackson or vlad appointed him

I remember him well from the past rpfc.

He is failure from the past.

In my view he should stay there.

I am very serious when I say With him as president my membership will lapse.

Not interested with him in control.

Sorry, we don't need to draw any more attention to ourselves, imagine the sponsers right now, they are sponsering the biggest basket case in the AFL and add to this we have a wannaby president airing is opinion in the news paper. The old boys club is no more, great they support but we need new blood.

Do you have particular bones to pick with him?

Or is any Demon involved with the club in the past a failure?

Probably a whole carcass rpfc.

It comes down to the fact that he was on the board once before, that board covered itself in way less than glory.

He has had his chance and failed.

We need new blood not old failed creatures from the past.

No not everyone who has been involved with the MFc is a failure.

But we are not going to be a power in the future if we return to the past.

Please I am very tired of failure can we get someone new and vibrant.

Where is the "Melbourne Eddy" when we need him?

In spite of the fact most of them have been abject failures dr they still want to cling on.

You are right new blood please.

Stockdale is definitely not my first choice, but do we have anyone else who is better? Honest question because I don't know about the other guys putting their names forward.

IMO Jarka if the only one we can get is Alan stockdale then we had better accept that we are for the same road as Detroit and Kodak.

I just think that if we use your standards applied to prospective board members - we will have few people to pick from.

Bartlett is apparently an option.

What the standard that says you have had a go and failed.

Move out of the way and give someone else a go.

I get the feeling rpfc that you think there is no one else.

Is that the case?

6 feet under, unfortunately. Those are just the breaks.

We can't turn down candidates on the premise that they failed as a board member over a decade ago.

Everyone needs to be considered.

So why not get back Sonsky, Gardiner or McLarty for that matter.

If the MFC cannot field a new group of competent Board members and Chairman then it is surely doomed!

I reckon old dee, if we got the likes of "Sonsky", "Gardiner" and "McLarty", that would actually constitute a brand new Board. Now if we got Szondy, Gardner and McLardy back, that would be an entirely different matter.

Stockdale was on the Szondy board when it went tits up, but that board still wanted the best for the club. Szondy is actually a foundation hero.

As said earlier, I like Stockdale and don't mind his comments, I just don't know why he had to say anything.

No ... Stockdale wasn't on the Szondy board although his actions facilitated the creation of that board.

According to the foremost authority on thins MFC (DemonWiki):-

Alan Stockdale

The Former Treasurer of Victoria was co-opted to the board as an MCC director in 1997 and served as a director until May 2001 when he resigned as part of a peace deal upon the appointment of Gabriel Szondy to replace Joseph Gutnick. He launched a stinging attack on the former president in the Herald Sun on June 2 of that year.

It's also been a breathe of fresh air since Jackson was appointed. Things finally being done professionally!

We do however have to have strong people at the club that keep Jackson and the AFL at least slightly accountable and making decisions that are 'in the best possible interests of the MFC' first and foremost.

We do indeed and as much as I admire him as a person and footballer I don't think Neeta is one of them. We have done a really good job of picking Boards in the past haven't we, and that's why the AFL won't trust us to do it this time.

Stockdale isn't wanted if it's all ego driven and he is going to take us back to divisiveness, this club doesn't have many shots left let's not let this one miss the mark.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
