They aren't that flash for talls though outside of Cloke and Reid at both ends. Midfield will be awesome though.

why are COllingwoof getting so much charity from other teams?

[censored] the Eagles and GWS, absolute morons

True but they had no option - Shaw was still contracted so they had to do a trade of some sort. They either let Adams go for nothing as there didn't seem to be any late moves for him, or they trade him for the bloke they want. They were always going to be losers out of the trade, but at least this way they minimise the damage.

They could have played hard ball and forced Adams to walk to the PSD and then take him with pick 1 but that wouldn't really benefit anyone.

GWS list management is woeful

already lost two young midfield guns in Tyson and Adams and have gotten back a 28 year old Heath Shaw and yet more draft picks

It will continue to happen too, as the kids continue to want out, and who can blame them. Putting a team in West Sydney was a disaster from day 1

Correct Sue. It was a mere sense of humour but obviously all the floggings in the past has taken that from them.......lighten the [censored] up guys, where is your bloody sense of humour?

sorry misread that one

Rumour has it that the AFL have been getting stuck into their administration over the fact that they used all of their startup goodies on kids and are now a terrible side. They have been told to get in some decent mature-aged players and start winning games ASAP. To do that they need to farm out some of their kids and/or picks. Surprised they haven't raided the bombers for a couple of players in return for a round 1 pick.

This really gets my goat

"I don't feel like I've reached my potential yet so that’s all ahead of me," he said.

"I'd like to play some more consistent footy. I think I had a pretty consistent year (in 2013) without any real breakout games but I think playing with a football club like Fremantle, they demand excellence and hopefully they can take me to the next level."

I especially like the bit "hopefully they can take me to the next level"

Ah no Colin u should have helped yourself too that would have been nice.

Glad he us gone tbh.

I saw that and thought the exact same thing. That is the reason he's never been consistent because he expects people to make him rather than taking the initiative. Good swap Sylvia for Vince we win.

Also ... Shaw will be part funded by the Pies in the first year of his contract - which would allow GWS to front end another experienced player if they trade any remaining picks smartly.

After 10 yrs Silvia is still hopeful of a "real breakout game" - Lol!

We've seen this attitude from quite a few of our players. They all seem to be waiting for somone else to make them better players. Similar to Watts on the footy show saying the club was supposed to be improving three years ago. They seem unable to make the connection in their minds that it is up to them to make it happen. The club 's job is to give them the best tools to use, but it is still up to the players to improve themselves.

They aren't that flash for talls though outside of Cloke and Reid at both ends. Midfield will be awesome though.

Indicators are that Brodie Grundy will be a very good tall.

Brisbane trades seem to be very slow and Essendon players seem to be at the end of a bargepole.

Words fail me.

Not sure Collingwood are going to be that dominant tbh. They've lost both Thomas and Shaw (two of their best players), Swan has 2 years left in him before he hangs up the boots and goes partying, Beams, Sidebottom and Adams all are loose cannons off the field (allegedly). Granted Pendlebury's an out-and-out superstar but don't think there's going to be any Collingwood dynasty any time soon.

I'm assuming the Josh Kennedy rumour was all hot air?

I would assume so but remember, we had no word about the Tyson + picks trade until it happened, so you never know what will happen in trade week even if it is most likely nothing.

Nathan Jones was a teens pick and look at how far he's come as a player at the MFC. Sylvia is an absolute airhead who refuses to believe that reaching his potential is completely up to him.

Good riddance. Can't stress enough how happy I am with the Vince swap.

Moloney and Sylvia - 'bringing the MFC down since the early 2000's'

Get fcked.

Yes that little statement from Colin showed what a [censored] he is! As we all know, a lazy work etic gets you nowhere! Good riddance CS!

In fairness, he has had a couple of breakout quarters, and I distinctly remember another good half quarter.

Hopefully he will have similar impact as our last top 10 draft pick who went west last trade season.

they dont call him Colin Pill-via for nothing

in fact, they don't call him that at all

Not sure what the word means? Seriously though, stellar contribution.

All I'm saying is that I think we've done very well and there is no need to push through anything else unless it's a deal that's too good to refuse. We've added the right pieces to start the climb back up the ladder and we can build on that in the coming years when more players are open to the idea of playing for us.

Let me spell it out for you.

We have a crap midfield.

We have replaced Sylvia with Vince effectively.

We are getting Cross who is 30 and has been delisted by another crap side

We have Tyson who looks great but has never done a pre-season and has played 13 games.

We have Michie who has played 1 game

And you think we have done enough in this trade period. Lets not push it and get "too greedy"

You aren't thinking too clearly are you?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
