Luke Shuey and a player for Pick 2 is what I'm hearing.

Source is going to give us a buzz in about 10mins and fill me in with all that he knows. Will post here straight away.

I'd take that in a heartbeat if that eventuates. I'd like WCE to throw in Matt Rosa aswell. Shuey barracked for us as a kid. Wants to comeback to Melbourne.

Get excited people. The kid is a gun.

Sylvia gone aswell.

I like how you say get excited and add on the end Sylvia is gone.lol

It's obviously not gonna be there 1st pick(6) so I presume it will be a mid 20's pick

I hope Sylvia does go. Yes he has been here for a crap 10yrs but in that time he is the type of player that plays like melbourne....laconic, no gut run, no second efforts, form up and down like a bloody yoyo. Good luck to him wherever he lands

Just read this on the "Good Call / Bad Call" Facebook Page..

GWS have offered Nic Nat $8 million over 6 years in exchange for pick 1, Jon Patton and Rhys Palmer. WCE believed to have agreed.

That would be a massive win for West Coast. An injury prone former #1 draft pick, a middle of the road midfielder & Tom Boyd. Meanwhile, GWS would be getting a marketing tool, but an injury prone inconsistent player, who rarely plays four quarters. Not surprised it's come from Facebook.

Yes that may be the case but under ROOS he may(just may)turn into the player we have all been waiting for all these years.

The reality is if we want to build a decent midfield next year we can't afford to lose players like Sylvia who are seasoned hardened bodies

IF we do, we have to replace those hard bodies with others.

Well come on its already been 10 minutes!

This is what I have been told.

We are in the boxseat to get Luke Shuey. He wants to come back to Victoria and would happily come to Melbourne as he barracked for us as a kid and is good mates with Jack Viney.

Essendon are circling though and might offer a Carlise and Colyer to get Shuey to the Bombers.

Jeremy Laidler will most likely be a Demon next year aswell. We have shown the most interest.

Janesch to Melbourne is more than likely as he wants to return to Victoria.

Daniel Cross is 95% over the line but Carlton have had chats with him.

Liam Patrick will be picked up with a late pick in the draft or free agent (not sure on status)

This one surprised me when my mate told me but we have spoken with Richmond's Aaron Edwards. Not sure how he would fit in our forward line to be honest.

Sylvia will be at Freo next year. Lock that in. 2 year deal. Thanks for the service Colin.

We have spoken with David McKay from Adelaide but he had no interest in playing for Melbourne, so it was a brief chat.

Also mentioned we had Geoff Welsh nearly sewn up as Football Manager, but changed his mind at the last minute and will most likely take a year off and join North or GWS.

In other team news:

With North possibly missing out on Dal Santo and Betts, they are very interested in Jed Lamb and Everitt. Harper is on the table aswell.

Rockcliff could be at Essendon or Carlton next year. Manager was reportedly seen at Visy Park yesterday.

Dale Thomas will be a Hawk but Carlton still haven't given up hope.

North in the boxseat to get Polkinghorne from Brisbane. Leigh Adams possibly in the trade.

Taylor Adams to Collingwood. Lock it in.

Eilliot Yeo from Brisbane will most likely be involved in a straight swap for Shane Savage.

Pods will be most likely at Carlton next year.

Matt Rosa will either stay at West Coast or move to Fremantle.

Adelaide has had enough of Bernie Vince and will trade him back to WA or delist him if no one is interested. He is not interested in coming to Melbourne though.

Eddie Betts to the Crows but North still a slim 5% chance.

Richmond are heavily linked to Shaun Hampson.

Q-Stick is linked with GWS.

Josh Hunt/ Richard Tambling could be at North Melbourne next year.

Didak to Carlton.

Liam Anthony to Gold Coast.

Levi Greenwood to Adelaide.

Take what you will from this but just passing on what I have heard from my mate. Normally spot on the money but things change every hour in football.

Eg. Told me Essendon withdrew a 3 year deal to Chappy and are going to make big plays at Shuey/ Rockcliff.

Apart from the Daniel Cross rumour that was in The Age.

I haven't seen Janesch, Patrick, Edwards, Shuey or Laidler been mentioned at the Dees anywhere.

My main focus is on the Dees.

He gave me a rundown on other teams and I thought fellow Demonlanders on here might appreciate it.

Again. Take it at what you will. I'm just passing on what I have heard.

To answer your question. His not an admin, he doesn't even have Facebook haha

I know for a fact Shuey is happy in Perth and feels he owes a lot to Meth Coast who helped him through the tragic death of his sister and his first couple of injury ravaged years. He will only leave if Meth Coast decide it is in the best interests of their club

As a half back flanker!

Yep, but he's still reaching that ripe age and games level where he should start to reach his peak. He's got a great body for AFL (no homo) and is a good player already, with the potential to be great.

Plus I think more midfield time (+ more cash and closer to his bro) would appeal and help our case.

Aish I'm sure has great wraps on and could become a great mid down the track.. but he may not. He may become another Cotchin or he may become another Morton. We don't know. I'd prefer the low-risk Swallow.

Silvia will never be the player supporters have been waiting for, he is just not quite good enough. It's really that simple. He has the physical attributes but lacks in other qualities such as awareness, decision making and football sense. These are the things that have held him back.

I know Essendon have had some problem with possible substance abuse but no one in their right mind would have offered 'Chappy' a 3 year deal. It did not happen.

Fair enough if that's your opinion. However I believe he has showed on numerous occasions he is good enough, he has single handly won us games off his own boot, he's a powerful midfielder who kicks goals(I don't expect him to be a Judd or cotchin), his problem is he never has any fluency in his game because he will do something stupid and get suspended and sit on the sidelines when he's in form(therefore is never consistent). I think Roos will teach him what is required to become an elite midfielder and how fit u have to be to run hard two ways not just one. MFC cannot afford to lose Colin Sylvia IMO

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
