I have a feeling Jolly is being groomed as an assistant coach under Roos. Possibly ruck coach to start with. As for my earlier Higgins post second round pick if we get another one through trade or a third round pick and a player they may want from us may get it done.

Dogs won't give him up for that... well, I don't think they will anyway. Not sure we have any players they would want either, or players we would be willing to trade.

We may end up with another second round pick due to trades so I am not ruling anything else out. They may go for a player like Tapscott or even someone like Blease who has speed which apart from Johannisen they currently lack. 90% won't happen but hell the roos were stupid enough to take Gysberts weren't they.

Will be a very interesting trade period for us, for the first time in a long time I really have no idea who we are going to chase,

I hope we can land Rory Sloane for pick 2

ZaK jones for pick 20

Trade pick 38 for Viv Michie

Trade Mark Jamar for Anthony Miles

Sign Darren Jolly as a playing coach to groom Gawn into the gun I think he will be

Sign Daniel Cross because he is a perfect fit on and off field

look at Xavier Ellis as a free agent

and retain col!

Yes they were, but they took him for next to nothing. Dogs won't take dead wood for Higgins.

Just tuned in... All i can hear is music though

..."Grand Old Flag" or "Happy Team"?

Seriously, anyone who thinks that we are about to trade pick 2 for a 28yo with issues with pick 10 thrown back is on drugs. Where is the benefit of that? Pick 2 is there for us to secure quality. Shaw being 28 with issues is worth a 3rd or 4th round pick, and if we trade for Shaw we will use an appropriate pick.

Interesting commentary about GWS. With Buddy, Boyd could well become pick 2. If this is the case we should take Boyd and trade Clark to Freo as previously suggested or keep Clark and trade Boyd to Freo. We should be able to get two A Grade Mids, one young, one old for Boyd.

Trouble with your scenario (which could be construed as a win on our part) is that trading concludes before the draft.

Kosi wasn't a big loss.

yes he was...

they should have traded him 3 or more years ago. a missed opportunity to get something back. also they could have traded others. this has left the saints in a hole now.

their list management has been horrible.

I heard on the weekend that McEvoy Riewoldt and Montana were all looking for out because of Money Watters and Seaford in that order.

Story is that there will be no money to pay players soon. They hate going down to Seaford (all of them) and Watters joins Buckley as the most hated coach. Now that someone else had mentioned it, I thought Id add my 2 cents. Personally I feel sorry for the saints.

I also heard that Jolley sat on the demons Pre-GF lunch on stage next to Paul Roos and spoke bitterly about Nathan Buckley. Apparently when Jolls was in Sydney all issues were spoken about and everything on the table. At Pie-land when Jolls raised an issue he was castigated and told to leave it to himself(bucks) and the leadership committee. There should be others to verify this on here.

I asked Glenn Moriarty (runs Magpie TV) about it shortly after and he blamed Jolleys wife for urging him to step up when he should have STFU. Said Jolls suffered from lack of putting little woman in her place.

Pretty much confirmed it as true to me...

Seems smoke fire thing. Mick would have needed some bad cops in his day, seems Neeld, Watters and Bucks may have all delivered. Though Brad Scott seems ok, not that North have nailed it yet.

Nice to know others have issues, cause the Demons are about to rise and the quicker they fall, the sooner we go past them!

There's a lot of broad speculation there fella. The world is full of ifs. Can you give a link or source to these suppositions?

Gees this thread is long on opinion and low on actual rumours. Heaps of rumours swirling around today none of which seem to have appeared here.

1. Trade period doesn't start until Friday. Not a rumour.

2. Roos wants mids and a running defender.

3. Interest from Dees in Levi Greenwood

4. Pick 2 if not traded for Sloane which the club is still bullish on it will be traded for a group of second tier mids perhaps with sweatners.

5. Colin Sylvia all but ready to resign.

6. Roos wants players that can kick straight. Might spell trouble for Bail but Nicho will be a tagger next year.

7. Expect surprises...

8. Daisy still will be a blue.

Honesty & Openness are great policies to build a strong culture of trust & feeling free around your mates. a bond thats strong.

this should be encouraged, no secrets, & nothing to hide or be ashamed/guilty of. anything comes up, get it out in the open, talk about it & deal with it.

I'm glad if this is the new direction.

Ah some rumours, or potential facts. Kick straight, who would have thought he'd be such as task master! Happy with Levi and Sloane and some surprises. Nicho could very well be a Clint Jones type, don't think he'd ever hit Crowley status.

Thanks norm.

Cheers Norm, nice to see some of the rumours that have been swirling around today in the one place. Nice change for the thread.

I'd be interested in Greenwood, and we might get him relatively cheaply if North are getting Dal Santo and trying to fit him into their cap.

I never said I had a source if you read back I said they were purely my thoughts. I thought we were free to add our thoughts here if not I apologise

His manager said on radio today he hasn't even spoken to us. Could end up being much like Caddy in that he has interest, big interest, from the bigger clubs and we don't factor into the equation. Annoying but understandable.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
