You would have thought that the Lions would not have got rid of Voss unless they have a QUALITY replacement ready to go.

Roos has the links to Fitzroy and his comment "not at the moment" makes sense now. It was nothing to do with Melbourne it was waiting for this to happen at the Lions.

He has been courted a while ago and is just a matter of time for the announcement. Once again it seems we will miss out on a BIG name coach (that [censored] me tbh)

Hello Chocco or Eade

The above is only my opinion.

I've spoken to some people at Geelong and they seem to have the opinion that Roos is arrogant and takes the credit for results that are largely due to the hard work of others.

Others like Ross Lyon, Leigh Tudor, John Longmire, Kinnear Beatson, Andrew Ireland, et al.

Based on that, I'm not overly upset if we have to "settle" for Eade or Williams.

Paul Roos is off the table for us the moment he announces he is coaching another side, until then we need to keep chasing, if we get Choco or Eade instead it won't be the end of the world.

Last night I was discussing this with my Brother who is a Lions member, he is of the opinion that the lions see Roos as the person to take over from Voss.

He claims that approaches have been made already.

Claims Roos is way more likely to move North from Sydney than South, weather / family reasons etc.

Do not be surprised if he knocks us back and takes the Lions job in October.

Looks like a pretty good feed from your bro OD. I never thought he was coming anyway but now that he's gone North i'm putting you forward as assistant coach to whoever we end up appointing.

At least i'll know he'll have no illusions as to the task that lays ahead!

Oops, i'm being sexist here. could just as well be the first ever female AFL coach they way we're travelling :)

You have a point there. Lyon and Longmire are still at the coal face with continuity of excellence. Roos has been on the sidelines living off past glories for a few years now. Edited by america de cali

I want this club to get some credibility not settle for second best which is our last 50 years

Mark Williams has a very similar record to Roos, has been a coach longer, coached at more teams, and was coaching against the great Brisbane team, so i would argue that Williams is on a par with Roos as the best candidate anyway, plus he is desperate to get the job, unlike Roos.

settling for someone who comes as a part of a succession plan with one eye on the door...........is SECOND best !!

Desperation is not a valid reason to give Williams the job. This club has stuffed up so many times, I have zero confidence that they can make any decent decisions. Lets see what the magic plan is they will sell to us this time.

So because there's speculation that Roos may be linked to the Brisbane job "he's not that good anyway" and "it was really Lyon and Longmire that should take the credit". Speculation from people not equipped to know. And heresay from expert "Geelong" sources.

Classic Demonland.

Some think Williams is THE choice.. You assume hes second choice etc . Its not desperation to be looking at someone as a serious contender just because hes not the medias favourite

Mate i'd go as far as saying he is equal first, can you give me one reason why he wouldn't be a better choice than Roos? the swans culture was a result of a coaching team, not just Roos himself, just shows that the selection of the team around Choco would be vital, he has coached a team to two seperate premiership tilts, 4 prelims, 1 flag and beat that great brisbane team.

I think Roos might like hot humid weather. Me thinks he is off our List of coaching options. Would have loved to have him but he is perhaps a bit too smart to sign up to the MFC basket case.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
