Impressive interview - went for 18? minutes...available online.

Reasonable summary on AFL web site here. He backed Neeld to the hilt.

He spoke impressively....also said Neeld had the 'full' support of the board(!) ..not sure how he would know that, but.....

Posted

lol so what if he backed Neeld

what the hell else is he going to say?

Exactly he hardly gunna say he's shite and the players don't wanna play for him is he.

Posted

He plays the party line because he is the Capt FFS. I like the young man but his coach is covered in poo and drowning in it as every week passes.

Posted

Frawley also came out and said he has no plans to leave.

Some more details would be nice. When and where was this stated? Cheers in advance.

Frawley not planning on leaving just yet.

Says he's happy where he is right now.

Interesting that Grimes admits to being worried about how a captain should play when he first got the job. Not what you'd expect from someone just sticking to the party line. :P

I think that's pretty normal, watching Murphy at Carlton the other night there were a few times when he should have and would have taken the game on but instead tried to bring a teammate into the game.

So those people saying he's unhappy and doesn't like Neeld can eat their words. As I suspected much of that talk has just been hot air blown by media commentators. Edited by Pates

Preaching to the choir mate, I've never given the Frawley talk much credibility because as you said he's contracted. Doesn't stop the media from talking absolute crap.

All this talk of the club now having elite training standards begs the question - Does having elite training standards in any way guarantee good performance?

The jury's out.

I cringe every time the training is mentioned in interviews

Of course not, but I'd hazard a guess that having poor training standards just about guarantees that you will not be able to compete for long enough.

Me too. Also cringe when Rod an is complimented for being a great character to have around the club. Shame he is hopeless on the field.

Not at all, and the club learnt that in rounds 1 and 2 this season. "We didn't see that coming" is because the club thought that having a playing list with the right attitude and work ethic combined with the right training standards and fitness would be competitive.

As well as the above, we now have our KPPs sorted (forwards, defenders and rucks). We now need the next ingredients: top line mids and runners. Adding those into the mix plus the final ingredient of experience and familiarity (with team mates) will see improvements. Will it deliver a flag? That depends on other factors but it will get us playing better footy and will allow us to judge the game plan and the coaching.

One thing is for certain - not having elite training and fitness will leave you in a Steve Bradbury like situation, we may compete we may be thereabouts, but we only have a chance if everyone else falls over ie injuries, form etc.

Pre game on SEN they were talking to Melbourne fans and via SMS and one on the SMS was "training is good" or something similar.

Made me laugh.

Classic quote from today's game:

Tourist - 'it says there that Melbourne Football Club Rule the MCG - how long ago was that?'

Local - 'A very, very long time ago'

The proof will be in the pudding...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
