You just dont understand the game plan.

Its all about getting smashed in the first half so they will let their guard down.

With the MFC is the second half that counts, if only the boys were a little fitter they would have had them.

lol....that would explain our success in the 3rd quarter's this year!

Matt Thompson will be beside himself.

Nothing has happened!!

I hope the meeting goes for hours yet. The club has serious business to attend to.

Home delivery tonight.

This grotesque anticipation of someone's demise is so nauseating.

Sure is. I wonder what percentage of the 1500 AFL accredited journos actually write about matches? Probably a small minority.

So todays summary: ......... TBA at a later date

http://www.afl.com.au/video/2013-06-03/footy-feed-dee-day-crow-concern-and-more

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/football-world-waits-on-neeld-verdict-20130603-2nlfq.html

Melbourne coach Mark Neeld has left the club board meeting at the MCG and returned to AAMI Park accompanied by player development manager Todd Viney and high performance manager Neil Craig.

There is no word yet on the outcome of the meeting or Neeld's future at the club.

Neeld arrived at the monthly board meeting around 2pm, accompanied by sports performance director Neil Craig and football manager Josh Mahoney.

Coaches presentations usually take half an hour to complete, but the presentation on Monday took an hour and a half.

Though the meeting was scheduled, it was moved to lunchtime from an evening time slot, with many expecting the case for and against retaining Neeld to be the main point of business.

Speaking on SEN radio, former Melbourne player David Schwarz said it would be unfair to Neeld, players and supporters if a decision is not made today.

It is believed that if Neeld is given his marching orders, his senior assistant Neil Craig will take over as caretaker coach. The large media contingent, some of whom had been outside the club's training base AAMI Park since 6am, has now moved to the MCG.

Demons president Don McLardy declined to talk about Neeld’s future when entering the meeting this morning. "It’s a board meeting, mate, it’s been scheduled all year," he said.

"No other expectations."

Melbourne lost to Hawthorn on Sunday at the MCG by 95 points, kicking just one goal in the first half in fine conditions. It was the club's seventh loss by 10 goals or more this season, and its average losing margin is 76.6 points. Neeld has coached the Demons 32 times, for five wins, with six losses of over 90 points and an average overall losing margin of over ten goals.

Commentators including Tim Watson and Kevin Bartlett this morning felt Neeld's position was in jeopardy.

Former Carlton, Fitzroy, Brisbane and Richmond coach Robert Walls also felt Neeld's role was under threat.

"If the board feel … (it) is falling away and disenchanted, they (will) probably feel compelled to make a move on Mark Neeld. But if they feel that the sponsors will stick fat, (and) the members say, 'We'll support you to the end of the year,' and the players aren’t dead-set against the coach, they might just say, 'Well, we just battle on for the remaining 12 games,'," Walls told SEN radio.

Walls said Melbourne's track record could make it hard for the club to attract a well-known coach if it sacked Neeld.

"If they sack Mark Neeld, a prospective coach would look at them and say, 'Well, they've sacked Dean Bailey, they've sacked Mark Neeld, they've sacked (former CEO) Cameron Schwab, they've sacked this one (and) that one; I don’t know if I'd want to go into that environment.

Walls said if the club axed Neeld, it should target experienced coaches such as Rodney Eade or Mark Williamsas his replacement.

A cunning plan then. I propose that we also find someone with the requisIte skills to hack into the MFC computer files and up the games played for all of our players, thus allowing us to say why our players can play good football rather than why they can't. Confidence is a wonderful thing :)

Matt Thompson could not have a worse head for tv. I'm reluctant to click any link that means having to look at him for an extended period.

Not for those who have an emotional investment in it mate. Whatever the decision it will have far reaching implications for our club.

If you think about it Neeld would be stoked to get the sack - a year and a half paid work ($600,000) for nothing!

.......maybe he was tanking as coach? - here comes another investigation!

I've been to meeting about dresses that lasted longer than this.

Be patient, this is important.

the meeting was not for the new MFC playing outfit?

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
