DOn't know why this topic was taken down last night. More D'Land censorship????

Clarkson stated on OOC categorically that neither he or his manager were approached to coach the Dees.

GLyon wouldn't answer a straight question last night on FC.

Whats going on?? Someone is not telling the full story.

We didn't speak to Ross Lyon and we didn't speak to Clarkson.

How did out current coach get chosen again???

And this was after Bailey was chosen because he had a whizz bang powerpoint presentation.

We need some answers because the boys club is crumbling....

No he wouldn't, and he also wouldn't answer a straight question on Neeld's tenure.

Very strange man for one not interested in politics.

Back it up or remove it. Some of the comments on here are ridiculous and don't do the club any good.

I thought G Lyon was direct and clear on FC last night that he did speak to Clarkson.

And I wouldn't expect him to criticise Neeld given his involvement in the appointment process. Not at all strange. If he had said anything else that would have been the lead story in the media, not Gerard Healy's comments.

GL did answer Craig Hutchinson by saying that he did not understand why "Al" would say that. I think CW or someone said who was to be believed GL or AC and Craig Hutchinson said Gary Lyon. From my viewpoint Gary was saying that he was approached and he doesn't know why AC would deny that.

What youre accusing jrmac of is common knowledge, obviously you haven't heard of this.

Agree with that. The comment you referred to is rubbish.

"Common knowledge" on Demonland equates to an often repeated statement whether it is factual or not. In this case it isn't.

GLyon did not answer a straightforward question. He was sheepish and cute in his answer. If he did approach Clarkson or his manager he could have and should have come out and said that. Nothing wrong with truth...if indeed.....

And of course CH and CW had to come out in public support of GLyon on the show. Otherwise it would have descended into greater farce with an FCC panellist being branded a liar. And the questioning of GLyon suggested they did not believe him.

All they can be establish from the embarrassing effort of GLyon is that one of them at least is lying and I can't think why either would do that.

CS told me he was, I asked him the question and he answered. Just saying. (Why would CS tell me? Why would he lie to me? Why would Clarkson lie? I have NFI!).

Maybe he was told so by GLyon that he did. Agree on why they would lie.

That's the one, a simple yes or no.

Umm Ive only just joined Demonland, it was common knowledge to the public. Well documented at the time.

Actually, the person who struggled most on FC last night on this issue was Craig Hutchison who seemed quite unconvincing when he tried to argue that he'd never discussed Melbourne approaching Clarkson with Liam Pickering who is both Clarkson's manager and Hutchison's colleague on radio.

Hutchy struggles on every show. He really is fit to only interview the Auskick star of the week. CH let himself down with that gap. Especially when they showed OTC footage of Clarkson saying that MFC did not approach he or his manager.

Quite bizarre differing versions of a straightforward simple issue.

Well I'd heard of it as had many others.

I think you should take some of your own advice there champ. From what I've read of your posts so far you seem like an angry little man, I'm sure your posts will become more entertaining.....

Garry Lyon did NOT say he approached Clarkson. He only suggested he might of approached him. Could not give a yes or no answer.

He did not approach Leigh Matthews.

He did not make a play for Malthouse.

He did not speak directly to Ross Lyon.

He quickly appointed Neeld, because Neeld was the polar opposite of his failed appointment of Bailey.

Garry Lyon has plenty to answer for, and it seems he has gagged his panel members on Footy Classified from asking him the big questions like'

"Do you feel responsible for setting the MFC back a decade by trying to pick a diamond in the rough instead of a proven premiership coach"?

I think Clarkson is our man.

He would be great. Not sure how we get him away from the Hawks with how theyre going though. Obviously $$$ but I think he'll want a flag or two first.

The Ross Lyon issue was not straight forward at all. The MFC were in discussion with his management at the time. Ross Lyon told his management that he wanted to stay at St.Kilda, he instructed them to work out a deal. His management told the MFC past on this info to the MFC so we believed he wasn't interested in leaving the Saints. Lyon then went and signed a contract directly with Freo with his management's knowledge.

There was nothing we could have done really

It was taken off because the issue's been dealt with elsewhere.

Thanks

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
