Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Of this extended bench: Jordie McKenzie, David Rodan, James Strauss, James Sellar, Dean Kent, Aaron Davey, Troy Davis

My final would be: Davey, Kent (and play him from the start), Davis, Strauss (sub)

I can understand why they didn't upgrade Toumpas, although it would've been good to have him up against players his own age I think he needs to have multiple good games at Casey before elevation. There's plenty of time with him, no need to rush.

The big question is who we play on Ablett, surely on the back of his job on Judd last week Dunn gets the nod. Otherwise the other thought is let Ablett do his damage and tag one of the second tier players out.

Good luck to Jones in his first game as captain (I think).

Not possible to just stop and think before posting? Jesus C indeed:

"we're well aware that Gold Coast will play three tall forwards, so that's why Davis and James Sellar are in the squad."

So Sellar will replace who? Garland? Frawley?

tell me more about the four superstars you have named. This Toumpas bloke is 18 and has done naught at Casey right?

Round 5 stats: 26 disposals, 10 makes and a goal. A tad better than "naught". If ever there was a week for him to come into the seniors to gain some confidence, this was it.

As for Fitzy still not even making the extended bench..

I'm giving up trying to understand the selections, cause I simply don't.

wow, I just saw the team after being outside chatting to a neighbor...

I didn't see that coming, but I can see they are being consistent in making a game in a "Red'n'Blue" jumper a thing to be valued.

In that I have No Problem, as it is one area the club has cheapened itself in the past.

That's clear.

As Royal put it, he just needs to get a few (more) games under his belt, as he hasn't played all that many full games.

Also, so many here lament that we "gift" games to players: Toumpas was good for 3 quarters last week, and pretty ordinary for much of the week before. Needs to do it consistently for 2 or 3 matches at Casey before the lynch mob forms.

Royal on MFC team chat re Jetta: "Certainly Nev was close, however the suspension has cost him a place out of the side. Brian."

No s#$t Brian, he was suspended for 3 weeks, does that mean MFC add an extra week themselves from now on does it?

Ah, nice subtle personal jab there. Fed you the line and you gobbled it all up. Careful bing, you're becoming one of those predictable, smartarse types.

I understand the argument for stringing together some performances before earning a call up. But Toumpas was given several opportunities in the seniors, and was kept there despite looking out of his depth. This week there was a rare opportunity for him to gain some confidence against a young, inexperienced opposition, to prove to himself that he can compete at this level. It hasn't been taken. Hopefully it's the right move but I am expressing my doubts. Deal with it.

Toumpas and Sellar are not interchangeable, either in age, experience or the position they play. With Dawes back in the side, and Gawn's ability to float forward, Sellar can go back to the position he was more than decent at last year, KPD, taking the second or third tall. Toumpas, Magner, Fitzpatrick etc. would NOT have helped us deal with their 3 talls. Having said that, I don't know that both Davis and Sellar will play, and perhaps if Dixon hadn't come up OK for them this week, the selection could have been different.

Re Sellar:

"He showed he had recovered well playing in defence and had a real presence taking six strong marks. He helped set up a lot the team's movement with his composure and clean skills."

Definitely sick of hearing that from Neeld. It is a weak excuse in my eyes.

And then you look at a Fremantle who believe they can match anyone, anywhere with any players because of how good a game plan they have.

You won't find a bigger Neville Jetta fan than me, but it's probably good that a guy who hasn't played any football for three weeks isn't just given a spot. Still, I wish we'd just play him anyway.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
