Time to go Andy D

This guy needs to go, he is starting to speak like a Nazi leader from world war 2. The way the AFL handled the Tanking issue, bad the result was bad but the constant media leaks was bad, an Age journo seemed to have the AFL word through the whole process. The Drug saga, he comes out beats his chest then goes into submission and the latest have cracks at other clubs for potting Essendon and stepping into to assist Essendon retain Kia as a sponsor. He talks like a war load not an administer, vail threats all the time, he can't handle crisis, his response to crisis is aggression, talk first then look at what needs to be done.

The AFL thinks the MFC is in crisis, I suggest the AFL is and has been in crisis for a number of years, the only saving grace is the media deal, money is a short term fix for the holes in your business, you need to look no further than our club to highlight this. If that money isn't there in 3 years the AFL is in huge trouble.

Vlad must be moonlighting at the scum (a team who played on Anzac day but sent a premiership player who fought in WW 2 home in a tram - in his 80's). Obviously $2 million pa isn't enough for him.

I am sick of Andrew Demetrio and his constant need to change things to suit his agenda. I don't know how we can get him out of power but it needs to be done. He is single handedly ruining this great game. He makes up rules as he goes along, constantly changes the rules of the game and overall is so inconsistent with his decisions it is a joke.

any chance of a thread that isnt calling for somone to be sacked?

We're turning into Jr Carro's!

Was AD the man who proposed the "three strikes and you're out" policy with regards to the use of drugs ??? What a stupid policy !! Only encourages players to at least have a couple of detected offences BEFORE being publicly exposed and being penalized ?? Great invitation for a player to "use" with no fear of reprisal. At least it was clear AD endorsed this policy. What does he feel now after the latest "drug" situation ??

Where the hell was he for Melbourne with sponsors???? I'm amazed, it is not like the Dons brand wouldn't be able to cope with this current issue. The Melb brand has been pillared BY HIM for years and where is his call to our sponsors when needed????

Let's start one.... DON"T SACK JACK VINEY (lol) . May as well start a Topic to maybe please you.. I thought DL was created to give all a chance to post an opinion as long as it is acceptable to the Mediators.. You don't have to be involved or contribute ... Bu tallowing this freedom IS essential.. Isn't it ??

If it wasn't for AD's view on where the game needed to go MFC would be dead as we've survived on AFL guarantees for survival. He's built the sport into almost bullet proof strength and because of the TV rights he has negotiated there are developments at ground like Arden St, Seaford, Richmond, Western Oval and footy clubs are now on a much more equal footing in terms of training facilities. Without a strong AFL we'd be dead, no MFC.

Yes he's made mistakes, of course someone who has been in that position for 10 years will make mistakes, but if the AFL were a publicly listed company the shareholders would be very happy.

We find ourselves in our mess because of our actions. Essendon are similar. It amazes me that people continually want to blame someone for something rather than looking in the mirror.

On balance AD has done a great job.

What VFL/AFL CEO hasn't everyone wanted sacked since Sir Kenneth Luke was around. The MFC was once the Powerhouse side, it is the club who stuffed up to get us to the point of almost irrelevance.

Vlad aint perfect, but compared to Wayne Jackson he is a genius.

I find it amusing that he revealed that other clubs are spreading gossip about essendon. Im just picturing professional grown men talking gossip with other professional grown men.

and while we are at it.....sack Kero too

Andy D is at least trying to get the rabble that is MFC in order.

Hopefully heads will roll now that Jackson is on the job.

I hope AD gives Jackson some support such as a good deputy and decent PA. he will need it while he puts in 16 hour days.

The AFL CEO really is getting on my nerves. Now publicly supporting his mate Evans at every turn, and serving it up to all other clubs about rumours and the bombers. His outspoken support for Essendon is way over the top and he is looking very stupid.

Stuff this goose...other clubs are allowed opinions.

Dimwit behaves like a schoolboy bully and its about time he left the building.

Smacks of Bias towards the stronger clubs.

When this once great club does a Port...AND does so over consecutive seasons, making finals, record memberships and starts to dominate it's opponents on the field etc then we can start having our say. Until then I wouldn't be asking for Vlad's or anyone else's head at the AFL drake.

Put some runs on the board then we can start having our 2 bobs worth

One thing is certain, if Essendon keep winning, Andy D won't just be able to brush of comments about Essendon.

His statement today about sides commenting on Essendon is a joke.

The fact is that you get residual benefits from performance enhancing drugs and opposition sides have every right to complain.

Some experts in the past on PED have even suggested the 2 year ban is inadequete, as athletes could still benefit residually after such a time frame.

So now we hear Andy D step up and tell sides to zip it... Why would opposition sides just accept this? They won't, expect more gossiping as Essendon keep winning.

Why? (I somehow wish I hadn't asked this!).

And you have been at the forefront of the mindless hyperventilation over the AFL on this site.

He worked Anderson out of the system. He never wanted the whole tanking saga to fester again and cause the grief that it did not only for the MFC, but the AFL and competition in general.

Most of the crap he deals with is not brought about through his own actions but through the bad management and poor decisions of senior club personnel.

Of course he has to sound like an autocratic toss bag. Anything less would bring about more conjecture about his capacity to do the job.

He's doing fine.

You're right. Let's sack people who start threads calling for people to be sacked!

I think it's clear, we need to sack anyone who works in an occupation....and has not won a premiership. Also, we need to sign a premiership coach who has coached for at least 75 years and put him on a 30 year, multi-trillion contract.

Also, can we have one thread called 'time to go' rather than individual ones for each sackee?

Better still, we could just pre-insert a list of all of the club's employees into the 'time to go' thread.

We've just got to remember to keep it updated as new employees join the club.

I hear what you're saying but does the fact that Demetriou has produced the goods in one area make him immune from criticism for his shortfalls in others?

Nobody is arguing that Essendon and Melbourne haven't made their own beds but Demetriou is the head honcho of the organisation and some of the things he's done and said lately do not reflect well on his position, on the AFL itself and in particular his own governance.

Just as Cameron Schwab was shown no mercy for the fact that he presided over this club during a time when the club went from being deep in red ink to back in the black, Demetriou should not be quarantined from criticism just because his efforts might have saved some clubs from going out of existence, particularly when he was acting out of altruism when he did so.

Well, in the first instance I did say "On balance" and secondly "yes, he's made mistakes".

But comparing the job AD has done at AFL to that of Schwab at MFC is extraordinary. The job of the CEO of the AFL is to see the AFL in good health. He must provide an environment where individual AFL clubs can thrive and the business of AFL is strong. AD has done this. Attendances, memberships, TV exposure, revenues and player welfare are at or close to all time highs. AD has been at the helm of an organization that has succeed wonderfully. Schwab was at the helm for close to 5 years and we are worse of now than at any time in terms of our core business - winning AFL games of footy. Do you recall Schwab say MFC would be "the team of the decade"? He was saying this in 2010 and 2011. Sadly we may be the team of the decade but not the way he was thinking.

AD has made mistakes but has been a wonderful success in terms of the business of AFL football. Schwab made mistakes and was a terrible failure in terms of the business of the MFC.

The only valid comparison is to show the two ends of the spectrum.
