We miss you too Beamer!

This is a man who was shopping himself around halfway through last year. Good riddance.

Here comes the lynch mob, fresh from staking out pitch fork shops near McLardy's house...

He's not with us anymore, a move that in the circumstances was best for both player and club. Some respect for a Bluey winner is a bit too much to ask around here though I suppose, after all this is the den of delighted negativity, conspiracy theories, and buzz words.

Judging by the above post, you're acknowledging that last year, up to 40 of our players didn't 'buy in'. By the way, Grimes and Tom McDonald had reasonable years. So we're up to 4.

So in summary, it was Moloney and about another 40 odd players who possibly didn't 'buy in'. 15 of those 40 were traded out, were delisted or left of their own volition.

Fair enough.

I now make all applicable references to the 'Coaching staff', stuie. Much safer ground ^_^

But Macca... "culture", and "elite compliance", and "reality buses".... Clearly Neeld is not the problem, I mean despite the 19% winning record and average losing margin of 107 points, he says really mean stuff that makes me think less of the players, so he MUST be good even though all evidence says otherwise...

Ironically, it's the ones who moan about "accepting mediocrity" that are supporting Neeld.

By the way, I hope Moloney has a shocker tomorrow and is subbed off

Says the man who has a vendetta out against our coach. If it's a choice between lynching an ex-player and lynching our current coach, I know which one is more destructive.

Haha yeah but constantly trying to snipe and white-ant the coach isn't negative at all... Get a grip mate, you turn every thread into an anti-Neeld diatribe, this has nothing to do with Neeld it's a thread about Moloney yet you manage to find a way to snipe the coach again. We can respect a former player at the same time as acknowledging his deficiencies but you seem to think every player who left us since Neeld came on was the second coming of Barassi. There's no logic to your arguments at all other than you hate Neeld so any decision he makes is by default incorrect. There's a reason the club didn't care if Moloney left, doesn't mean he didn't have some redeeming qualities.

Do we know how much Brisbane offered him?

What if it was 450k a year? Or 500k?

I'd rather us not try and match that, and we didn't.

Brisbane didn't offer him anything near that. The paltry compensation we got from the AFL for both Rivers and Moloney was partly based on the contracts they were getting at their new clubs. Brisbane wasn't prepared to pay big money for Moloney because they know his shortcomings. Hence, we got SFA for him. Same with Rivers.

Beamer was always capable of performing against weaker clubs and not so good against the stronger clubs. Last year, he had the wrong attitude, wanted out and had ... ahem ... some issues. I don't miss him at all. The club has to move forward.

Changing clubs doesn't necessarily make you a better player as Ricky Petterd proved last night. I like the bloke but he still has troubles hitting the proverbial barn door.

Jones is a better player than Moloney. Brent had his deficiencies but he was easily better than our 3rd best clearance player. Instead of having 2 reasonable clearance players we've now only got one (right now)

Magner started the season quite well last year and won plenty of his own ball. Next thing, the coaching department tried to turn him into a tagger. Now he's back to being a rookie and his career is at the crossroads. Remember the threads we had about him last year?

'rjay', I'm a great believer in 'Do what you do, do well'. Some blokes are only good at one thing in footy and it's highly unlikely that you can change them. You can end up spending a lot of energy on a totally fruitless exercise. You can't turn the 'proverbial' into strawberry jam !!

We've got plenty on our list who could do a lot better in the midfield but for whatever reason they don't. There's a bit of talent there but they don't produce.

I agree with you on this 'Macca', so then it opens up the question of 'do you build you game plan around the team' or 'do you build the team to fit your plan'.

Being a first year coach I suspect, well more than expect Neeld took the later approach and totally deconstructed what had gone before. A senior coach wouldn't have been so gung ho.

Went from our best midfielder in 2011 (20 Charlie votes) to playing for Casey by mid 2012.

A massive cross to Neeld on this subject.

No responsibility here to be shouldered by Mr Moloney?

Because the coach moved his cheese.

Whether it was the right thing or not doesn't matter now. His attitude sucked balls when he should have manned up and lead by example.

For this reason I don't miss him a single iota.

Nail on head.

Great bloke, but he wasn't willing to buy in to our head coaches plans so he is out the door, it's really not that difficult to understand why he isn't here and i back the football departments choice to move him on.

"One trick pony" ......"Down-hill skier" ....... not a leaders "bootlace" ...... sullen and self-absorbed. If we are destined to ever have a future that we can be proud of, it sure as hell won't be built around players with those characteristics.

Ok, I see your pattern now. You deliberately misinterpret other people's posts to suit your own points you want to make.

To clarify:

-I never said Moloney was a great player, let alone compared him to Barassi.

-When talking about list changes surely it's fair enough to bring up the guy making the decisions.

-I've not said every one of Neeld's decisions are wrong, if you actually bothered to read my posts you would see I stated earlier that Moloney moving was the best thing for him and MFC.

No what you intimated was that I was incapable of forming my own opinion based on my own observations but rather was just bagging out an ex-player because of some statements made by the coach. I treated your posts with the contempt they deserved because you were incapable of discussing the matter on its merits.

It's clear you've got an anti-Neeld agenda (like your mates Hardnut and Tonatopia) so there's no point trying to point out the obvious to you.

Fact is, you've got no idea about this or any other topic I've seen you post on.

Go ahead and post some stupid pic though that seems to be the only way you have to compensate for your utter lack of basic football knowledge.

you can take your smart-arse [censored] and cram it.

This is how you discuss things "on their merits" is it?

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
