Barney Rubble 1,576 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I heard a similar reference to him this morning. Apparently he is an Insurance Broker and has links to MFC. Now this is purely speculation. I wonder whether the link is Don McL. because he is in Insurance

Canplay 635 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Had a big insurance business and sold out to AON about 5 years ago...... Minted.
Dee Fan 3,247 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 He was also on the board of AON who are the largest insurance broking firm in the World. The MD of AON is also a big Dees supporter. Had his own company Freeman McMurrick which was one of the largest Australian owned insurance broking firms. I don't doubt that McLardy and Freeman know each other through their respective businesses. Pretty cashed up guy from what I understand.

Little Goffy 14,970 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 How about Cathy Freeman? She sure knows how to run...
DeeSpencer 26,690 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Our board is stacked with top quality successful people. I don't see how replacing McLardy with someone similar makes no difference to me. I see McLardy only growing with the tribulations we are suffering as long as he gets united support. What we need is consistent and quality football advice to the board. If we can combine that with continued financial success and growth of the club we will get somewhere. Pretty much the role of the board should be to keep making money and learn to spend it wisely. Our board can do the first of that, I'm not sure they can do the second part.
Jack7 528 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Went to St. Bedes with a bloke called Geoff Freeman, don't think it'd be him though

Little Richard 6,265 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Bring Bob Katter down from Qld, now he'd get stuff done.
Benson 254 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Don McLardy has said that he is in it for the long haul, we will see how this pans out.

Gee we used to have a guy who was president of a global ad agency and was a big Dees supporter. Seemed cashed up. What was his name??? Left us $5m in debt, hired McNamee without Board approval, didn't like going to rd 1 because we would get belted and he had better things to do and now mouths off about the club and how bad it was at every opportunity. What was his name???? Oh yeah that's right. Paul Gardner. A complete disaster.
Outside fifty 967 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Morgan Freeman. Morgan freeman playing Cricket umpire Steve Bucknor.
Maldonboy38 6,435 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 One of the CEO or Club President need to be a high profile, media savvy person, but not both of them. I'm OK with McLardy staying but only if we get a CEO with some urgency, passion and profile. If we get a CEO whose skills are more "behind the scenes", then move McLardy on and make that the high profile position.
