No he didn't. The Ox clearly said he would take a seat on the Board if it was considered appropriate. Otherwise, he would be willing to take on any support role within the footy club and outside the board. The word "temporary" was never mentioned by him.

Ok, I admit that the use of the word "temporary" was my own interpretation, and as I have not read anywhere that he would take a seat if offered, I took the following to mean that he was not really interested:

"Schwarz said his discussion with McLardy was not about seeking a position on the club’s board.

It’s not about getting on the board. It’s about helping, and whatever needs to be done will be done."

Satyriconhome you are a member of the status quo at the MFC.

The Status quo has taken us down to the position we find ourselves in at present.

We have a list that is the worst in the competition.

In 2013 we are producing results that GCS and GWS did not produce in their foundation Years with a bunch of kids.

We have a coach who is struggling to prove he knows what he is doing

We are currently the cot case of the AFL.

Those are the facts.

Not sure what you are defending

but the last five years on field performance under DM as President and CS as CEO

Can only be described as a complete failure.

Now they may well be nice people but as the heads of the MFC the buck stops at their Door.

Please get over the fact they have not produced the goods.

In the words from a different period "It is Time"

I love all you blokes who don't read my posts carefully, bit sad really, I trawl through your diatribes to make sure I am answering correctly, do you have this on Notepad and just cut and past Old Dee, it appears verbatim in a lot of topics, anything new to say

I am not happy with where the Club is at the moment on the field, which bit of that don't you get, I was bloody ropable last week, ask the guy who was sitting in the row of seats I kicked, but I am willing to do whatever I can to make sure that the Club stays viable whilst we get that bit right, that is the definition of supporter, if any of you would care to look it up

It is only on the field that we are the "cot case" of the AFL, at the present moment we have more members than GWS, Gold Coast, Kangaroos, Bulldogs, Brisbane we are just below the Saints by a few hundred, so off field we have been doing allright, gee don't you hate facts

Do you know what the problem is?

What are you going to whinge about if we suddenly start winning, knowing you Old Dee you will find something

Read and I mean read and comprehend some of my other posts on this topic

I just come on here to ensure that is it balanced, otherwise it would be a board full of misery

In my opinion, everyone who agrees with how the club has been run in the last 6 years needs to resign.

Full stop.

We need new blood.

Yeah right. You think i want the losses to continue.

What is it with the mindset of people on here?

These people have been in place for years, not last week.

It has failed dismally.

But you will continue to throw barbs.

WYL (precious), barbs, I am just getting warmed up, fire away, as the musketeer, who shall remain nameless, once famously said to me in a post "if you can't stand the blowtorch, get out of the workshop".........Interesting that you question the mindset of people on here, you do include yourself there don't you?.......here is a question for you, how long has the present Board (all members) been in place............answers on a postcard.........any more pearls of wisdom to add to the debate as to whether we as Members should vote in the Ox now as President.....or shall we wait to see what he has to say

That's rather broad. Do you recall our financial position six years ago?

Yawn. This is getting dull. But keep firing away.

There will be change, there has to be.

The tanking saga has taken the spirit out of the place.

We did it. Even if the AFL evidence was shonky.

Mate, Id like to see where your at when it comes to the business world. You sound like a right royal pain in the arse. Can't even see past grammer. Yep, your types have run this club into the ground.

Well done. Supporter of fools.

At least he is out actively doing something for the club assisting with the membership drive... what exactly are you doing other that suggesting we just summarily execute anyone who has anything to do with the running of the club in the past 6 years?

Fair enough... being in Sydney, SEN isn't something I listen to regularly :-)

Nah, they're just more vocal, with an attentive audience.

Essendon: Gavin Wanganeen: about the only one they lost,, is that it... they lost one?

North Melbourne: Peter Bell,,, hmmn, I don't think I'd be screaming because of that.

West Coast: Chris Judd,,, no loss, but a win for WC.

Hawthorn: Darren Jarman: theres one, & one who was signed to Us, but who refused to comeover to us, took the sign-on fee & ran.

Collingwood: Peter Moore: came over because of Ron, then went back to the Pies.

Geelong: Garry Ablett Jnr: nothing could be done about that.

St Kilda: Tony Lockett: there's one who just needed to go, & get his head straight. the saints, a bigger basket case.

... the Casey move, Fantastic & the houses being built are going up everywhere...

But what did Melbourne do when the built the facility out there.... they built an isolation chamber, cutting off the MFC from the Casey grandstand only joined by an abutting wall, with totally segregated social facilities keeping the natives at bay...

I don't know about all of that, but as I understand it, the potential for memberships in that area is great... and I doubt too many locals would be concerned about the "isolation chamber" if the MFC starts to perform.

Can someone start a poll on Schwarz, I dont know how to do it.

Poll ready - knock yourselves out. (I'm on the fence leaning towards yes)

Casey, a growth corridor?

Looks more like the outskirts of a growth corridor.

I'd rather jump into Dandenong if I had to.

Bentleigh Club, cheap pokie machines right? Yep thats fantastic for supporters.

Get real.

Where is our home?

What are our colors?

Who wants to play for us?

Where are our crowds?

Darwin Demons?

Where is Moloney, Rivers, Jurrah, Wona?

Who has been recruiting for us?

Why is the club so divided?

Why do people laugh when I say I follow Melbourne?

Why havnt we developed players?

Why do we pick dud coaches?

Just off the top of my head.

Presidents are not desk jockeys, they are there to rally support and give spirit and vision to the people.

Schwarz is perfect.

"Did Abraham Lincoln balance the budget?"

"No idea - he abolished slavery!" Lincoln's economic management is historically irrelevant, given the magnitude of what he did do. Sometimes, one issue is so big that it pushes everything else into irrelevance...

Churchill was a disaster at everything he ever did, until he got into the right job at the right time - and suddenly he is the greatest Prime Minister ever. So, there are times when the full set of skills is not what's needed.

In the big picture of where we are at, how much of what is most lacking would the Ox be able to bring?

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
