The way I perceive most successful CEO's in the AFL is they are either ridiculously passionate about the club and/or fantastic businessmen. Cameron was neither.

It would have been a tough thing for McLardy to do with what appears to be a lot of love for Schwab from the board but I am very grateful he did it, the club is a lot stronger for it.

Schwab both loved the club & was a good businessman IMO. His downfall mainly appears to be that he also loved being directly involved in the footy department which has eventually cost him his job.

I'm happy cam is gone. None of us know the full story but some on here have bound cam and don together because of cams three year deal. Surely you can't do that now. If on face value don told cam to resign then don is attempting to do the right thing by the club and unite members and unite the footy department and the board. I hope we can resemble a team on the g this weekend.

Don signing Schwab to a 3 year deal, then sacking him.

Neeld signing Jamar to a 3 year deal when he is shot.

Bringing in a bunch of spuds who can't get a game at other clubs - and over paying them.

Hard to have confidence in these blokes.

Hopefully Don is next cab off the rank and Neeld follows.

Christ! Does anyone get to stay? Football dept and players have not fired a shot in 5 years and get to take another scalp whilst being hauled out of danger to Sorrento . Hope no one on hear complains when the financial results are announced later and stand ready to dig deep. Say what you like but Schwab played a role in getting the club back to a financially viable position. Will we still be there come the end of the year?

Playing performance and making a buck are directly related so good luck to the next CEO. Could it be that Schwab actually got this and that's what caused him to become concerned about about the football playing shite of the past little while?

So when will it be time for the players and football dept to deliver? Are they a protected species at our joint? They wouldn't be anywhere else.

Who do we blame next? Who's next in the queue? Oh that's right it will be DM's (who initially took the job on with great reluctance ) fault.

I thought of A.Anderson 1st because he would know what Demetriou would be thinking short / long term for the game in general - and that sort of info would be invaluable to know..

Plus he has a great blend of business and people skills.. (but so does Arocca)

I can't believe the amount of people that are so thrilled to see him go, I don't really know much about Schwab but think that those predicting a sudden change in performance are delusional. I am not really sure what a CEO does but what's their influence on team performance? The only way we would see immediate on-field improvement is if the players have been on strike (deliberately playing badly) which obviously has not been happening for the players would be banned from AFL.

I don't think we will see any improvement unless this somehow changes the structure/power at the club (read somewhere recently that the distribution of power at Melbourne was spread too thin)

It's wise not to comment if you don't know much Young Dee - CS had to go for certain reasons, but that doesn't mean he carries all the responsibility for what has happened. You are right to suggest that his going will not necessarily improve our onfield performance. Generally, it is others who are responsible for our onfield performance, and it's not the players.

You can say what you want about Schwab (and I wanted him gone 2 years ago) but he is literally taking responsibility for a lot here and should be applauded for what he's doing right now to present a unified front.

The press will now find a way to turn his dismissal against us, even though they've been baying for his blood and the posters on here that have been screaming for him to go will sit and wonder who we replace him with, they have no idea who though.

Loved the club? Look at Brendon Gale and what he is doing at Richmond and compare it to Schwab. Buying expensive replica trophies is more of an indicator of the coin your on as opposed to your love for a club.

As for being a good businessman? If it wasn't for Stynes, this club would be dead. He's the sole reason I got more involved financially than I had been. Cameron was extremely fortunate to be CEO at the time.

I believe he needed to go and he needed to be stronger in his dealing with CS and the club. When Schwab was sticking his hooter into the football department, Bailey needed to be a bigger man and tell the club 'Either this bloke gets out of the football department or I leave.' He would have left the club potentially viable as a coach. That he tried to play the game with CS and CC by buddying up with the players was his downfall.

But it needed to be said that Cameron needed to be relieved of his duties at the time of 186. Just because Bailey was wrong doesn't mean the CEO was right. It just showed they were both not suitable for their roles and both needed to be moved on. Garry said that if we were to fire both, the club would be seen to be falling apart. By not firing both, we looked slightly less calamitous but still calamitous. It then created a festering sore in which the players felt those above them were not being even handed and validated a bloke who had been a destructive influence.

That being said, Cameron seemed composed. One thing that can be said for him is that he has always been a polished media performer and a great talker. It's one of the reasons he has continued to get jobs in footy (and will probably continue to).

It wasn't weeks later and if Schwabb was too involved in the FD then don has removed the problem. Will you give don any credit for getting on the front foot and trying to fix the problem? Don and cam could have hidden away and pointed the blame at the FD but he didn't.

Would only add the significance of the Andrews report an independent report that encouraged people to express their honest views about issues and the best way forwards. Which was then shelved because people didn't like the answers. There's been smoke pouring out of the club ever since then. The week/s just before 186...

The club has been fragmented ever since then. Hopefully everyone can start to come back together and move forwards. Improving performance will take a long time but it wasn't possible with such discord within the club from the last few years.

In a lot of ways we've now got more questions now than we had before. Huge turnaround in 24 hours.

Don says that CS polarises the supporter base? How long has Don and the Board had this view? 24 hours? Don did not need to say that about Cameron at the press conference. Or at all, for that matter - unnecessary. You've got to think of the blokes future.

How can Don say two totally conflicting things about CS in the space of 24 hours and then just fob it off as if it's ok to do a complete about face?

If Schwab had been kept out of football matters since '186', then how can this be effecting our on field performances?

Can we assume that the departure of Schwab is related to our on field performances?

Are the players suddenly going to play a lot better because he's gone?

And if the team does play a lot better then what are we to think then?

If our form remains putrid then what happens?

I wonder how many who are taking unfettered glee in his sacking/resignation have actually met him. ?

I tire of the wolf pack mentality that permeates through from time to time . A lot of where we are in terms of financial stability ( sans things like tank fines etc ) are directly acreditable to Cam and his minions.

I found him personable and very approachable. The issue of him being a decent CEO and was it time for him to go are possibly two different things. Many will see them as invariable shackled together. I suppose thats an opinion.

Swap philosophy for opinions and inuendo and we have the general publics perception /idea of what really transpires behind the doors of clubs and leagues.

Cam has been offered up to the alter of sacrifice and I doubt he will be alone. Much has to change about this club if for no other reason than if it were to continue in this same vein then we would eventually disappear down the gurgler.

Sometimes to affect change you do indeed need to change literally for its own sake. Im sure we dont know half of whats been going on but I feel sure Cam cant have been responsible for much of whasts lamentable about this club. I can only hope that those who are also pass through the door in quick procession.
