The tragic downfall of Liam Jurrah

I've said all along, get this bloke off our streets, he is a danger to others.

If he isn't drink driving - he is assaulting people, he puts others lives in danger.

Does drink driving endanger other peoples lives? Yes, it does.

Does assaulting others endanger other peoples lives? Yes, it does.

I am sorry if I want Jurrah locked away before he kills someone.

Keep enabling though Bailey... I mean bing.

Unless anything else has come to light, the most we know is:

"It is understood Jurrah, 24, is being questioned over a violent altercation which allegedly occured outside a 24-hour convenience store on Gap Rd about 3am.

No charges have been laid as police are still interviewing witnesses."

I have read nothing further on any charges being laid, and the charge for his previous aggravated assault (for which he was meant to attend court this morning, is to be dropped... so that leaves just his drink driving charge outstanding at the moment and I would expect he will get the same treatment in the courts as any other drink driver.

That just leaves one question, who the hell are you to play judge, jury and executioner?

Whilst Im sure Liam's circumstances are different to the majority of us. What choices did Liam have the night in which he's accused of using the Machete? Was he obliged as a tribal warrior to issue justice under 'aboriginal law' or were the actions he took due to being under the influence? I don't know all the facts so I won't pass judgement. As an outsider it does appear Liam's troubles are related in many ways to his abuse of alcohol & not just his life circumstance.

HEY BONKERS ARE YOU Bonkers? hheeheh why not just accept Liam has and maybe will have somme issues and move on

I really dont understand the problem. We tried he failed we supported him he faled he needs support > Hopefully his family will help and support him and he will realise his potential> I m not sure MFC should have ever got involved but I think they have doine all that could have been expected and more Good Luck Liam

He's making his last judge and jury look like fools.

I just hope they lock this sociopath away, before he kills someone.

The train wreck that is Liam Jurrah needs to come to a halt before someone is seriously injured.

This is becoming a joke.

First case, assault with a weapon - Jurrah NOT GUILTY.

Aggravated assault - charge to be DROPPED

Drink driving - yet to be decided but hard to argue against and he will be treated in the same way as anyone else.

Latest "assault" - police still investigating, NO CHARGES laid as yet.

There is only one joke in this thread at the moment and that is YOU!

Just what is it you really have against Jurrah? What is your agenda? Currently, the drink driving charge is the only blot on his record at the moment and he is no different to the thousands upon thousands of others charged with the same offence.

Needs to be locked up before he kills someone.

Regardless of all these charges he gets off, if you don't think there is a problem, you are an absolute JOKE.

Just because he gets off a machete attack because they were all on the turps - we should pay Jurrah respect?

Drink driving is not a joke either, this forum seems to support it - I don't and neither does our justice system.

Actions speak louder than words and judging by Liam's actions in the past year, he is a dangerous individual, thinks he is above the law and needs to be locked up.

You want him locked up, yet you are saying our legal system is flawed because he is found not guilty?? Perhaps you long for the days when a good old lynch mob could solve all of the world's problems?

Only one joke here, and it 'aint me, 'aint LJ and 'aint the legal system. You work it out.

I didn't say our legal system is flawed, it's common knowledge that Liam got off because the lads were on the turps, which doesn't stand up in the courts.

That is what it is and at the end of the day, justice will eventually prevail anyway - it generally catches up to sociopaths who think they are above the law and pay no respect for societies rules.

You can say whatever you want, we will revisit all this after his next incident, which judging by recent history, will probably be in a week or so.

You don't see the contradiction there?

it wasn't the MFC's call. I am sure they didn't want him to go.

That is why i put a lot of blame on others around Liam.

Agree with you WYL. Although Liam Jurrah takes ultimate responsibility for Liam Jurrah, Rubeboy and a couple of the other hangers on shoulder some of the blame for the way things have turned out. From day one I was never convinced of the purity of their motives in "helping" Liam.

That stupid book should never have seen the light of day.

It was MFC call to bring him to Melb.... Blame needs to be a shared experience here. From Liam down.

Far out how do we as a society work through this massive difference in culture that can generate such difference and understanding?

Smarter heads than ours fail at it, clearly just ask every club with a failed recruit for behavioural issues.

The complexity of it is hard to grasp let alone the baby steps to some sort of progression.

he was doing fine until he made a bad decision.

Sorry but the MFC have sweet FA to do with Liam going off the rails. He is a grown man, not a child.

The lads got on it, obviously alcohol is a problem for not just Liam.

I hope the others don't drink drive as well.

While i agree about drink driving, assault etc You use emotive language towards Jurrah yet numerous times use 'lads' towards others who may have also transgressed doesn't help the point of view you are trying so hard to get across.

Yeah, nah. The MFC did everything possible to accommodate and support this guy. Thousands of blokes would have died to have been given the opportunities he was given.

As Al Pacino's character Detective Vincent Hanna said to a delinquent criminal in the movie Heat ... "Empathy was yesterday. Today you're wasting my mother....king time".

As i said from Liam down but ...

He was doing fine was he, you know how? I don't, doubt many would.

Bad decision... When he went to Alice... While an employee of MFC?

Easy call to bring him into the club, hard call to manage long term, just my thoughts. I think this hopefully brings to the surface a deeper discussion on how AFL looks after people in the 'system'. they have huge resources that could prove some benefits.

"Yea nah", well put.

You are quoting a character from a movie as your standard bearer?

I call [censored], how would you know we did everything?

But look whatever makes difference to the end outcome Liam is the one standing in the red dust in Alice, Yuendda, or cells not us.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to sta

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
