Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Assuming that we pick Wines at #4 I would like to see this guy picked if he is still available with our first pick after Viney. We are in desperate need of a clever small forward and even if Davey comes good this year he has only a couple of years left. Tipungwuti looks sensational.

We have picked up Shannon Byrnes and David Rodan who can fill that role for a couple of seasons.

I have a feeling that pick 49 which is our next pick after the f/son selection would be used on a mature age selection from one of the State Leagues. It's just a hunch based on the fact that at our pre FA/Trading briefing with Mark Neeld and Tim Harrington, a great deal was made of the fact that the club had placed Kelly O'Donnell in a scouting role specifically aimed at this area.

Sounds good, I Watched some SANFL games this year, generally the ball movement and foot speed seemed a lot quicker compared to some other leagues, not sure if any one else thought that. I'm sure there are plenty of good prospects to look at and it will he interesting to see what type of player they chase ,id they decide to go down that path.

Tipungwuti was an overager this year, and went to great lengths to show that he wants a shot at his AFL dream. Projects as a rookie selection. I'd love for us to pick him up. Can play forward, but played mainly in defence for Gippsland this year, and was pretty solid defensively. Worked very hard to improve his endurance and has good pace and highly skillful. Most of the small forward types (Ben Kennedy aside) look to be rookie list potential, and I think we can get a good one through the rookie draft.

Brian Coleman-Broome, Shannan Taylor are a couple of others I like. Max Duffy and Matt Johnson are WAFL state leaguers who are worth a look too.

Don't forget our own Freddie Clutterbuck had an outstanding season in the WAFL.

I have just watched the video clips and he is very exciting young man. I cannot see however how the other 15 teams will politely let us pick him up at 49! Dream on.

Wow

He certainly seems to play at a different speed to everyone else but also has an amazing sense of awareness.

his speed brings others into the play and helps him elude others. Would be surprised to see him missed by others but could continue the long list of indigenous players would be great to have him at the dees.

Gippsland Power, Vic

DOB: 22/4/1993 Ht: 174cm. Wt: 72kg.

Anthony is from the Tiwi Islands and worked extremely hard on his fitness dropping 8kg this year. He came back as a 19-year-old this season and probably has the best skills of a kid his age I have seen. He is really clean, a beautiful kick and a really good tackler. He could be a good pick for a club late in the draft - Nick Stevens, Gippsland Power coach.

Here's an article about Tipungwuti that Emma Quayle wrote in September this year:

A long way from the top when you just want to have a go

Great story. Can't help but admire his determination to succeed. That, combined with his obvious talents on the footy field, make him well worth a punt imo.

Not sure that I would admire his determination to succeed. He has known/been told for many years that he had the potential to be drafted, yet did not work hard enough and was ultimately passed over when first eligible.

Good luck to him though, he could be a great player.

I remember when I was his age.....A few beers after playing footy and cricket.......Sometimes you just can't put old heads on young shoulders....It's so easy for us supporters to judge young players with out "knowing them"......"They should work harder....They should do this, they should do that........Some times it takes a while for the penny to drop, before they know what they really want.....

Fair point Stylus, I wasn't fully aware of that. None-the-less, he has obviously 'grasped the nettle' recently, including with his education, and I'd love to see him in the Red and Blue. Clearly, if that were to happen, he would have passed the initial 'Neeld test' which would be an important step in his favour.

If we draft him...how long until he heads home ...

I would pass on him.

A bit unfair that.

He seems to have something in common with Cyril Rioli and Dom Barry in that they've done their schooling in Victoria and seem well settled here by now.

A fair effort to make the Tiwi Bombers team at 16 and has done well in representative games.

I trust the FD does their homework on a this type of player before moving on him. We really need to focus on players who have the real aptitude for AFL and not get sucked into feel good stories.

There is alot to consider from what Matt Rendell has commented on in the past.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
