  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not pushing divisiveness Really??

Yes, really. My view is that we should get behind the club and if this involves holding Schwab and others to account than so be it.

For years people on here have been unable to differentiate the club and the board. Did you know that Schwab used to be a Richmond supporter?

It's fine if you don't agree with me, but that doesn't make me any more divisive than you are.

without resorting to unsustainable donation drives. Hardly an indictment.

This is where you're disingenuous. The Garnder Board couldn't see how the crippling debt and its interest charges would be eliminated. It was one of their biggest challenges and they were at a loss as to how to eradicate it. Yet you want to belittle the effort.

It doesn't serve you well, but you're good at keeping in character.

You do realise that the people on here are hard core Demon supporters very worried about the dilema that their club now faces. What do you expect your finger pointing and blaming to achieve

Oh those responsible need to be held to account , sure enough just don't know that right this minute is the right time. Might be a good idea to try and minimise the damage first

I understand that, but the club must hold their stance. They may argue that individuals have taken it upon themselves if there's enough evidence, but they must deny that there was any club directive.

The whole vault would have to do that. And they would have to do that without giving conflicting evidence. And they would have to do that even with the knowledge that there have already been leaks. And they would have to do that even with the knowledge that they can't trust each other. And they would have to put their careers at great risk and possibly even perjure themselves.

Alternatively, Schwab, McClardy, Connolly and the other bad eggs can fess up and take their medicine and just maybe the club will get through this. I can't see them doing it willingly though.

I would say the sooner the better. We can still have a say in the result if we are willing to co-operate before our hands are forced.

I have the greatest respect for all of the everyday supporters who contribute to the club by donating their time and money and those who continue to purchase memberships, particularly when things are as bleak as they have been for the last few years.

What does that have to do with anything?

Yes really My view is we should get behind the club and if that means supporting McLardy and Schwab at this time of crisis despite their short-comings then so be it.

See this is where I get confused - I thought you supported tanking but not our implementation of it.

Obviously I don't agree with your assessment of what's best for the club but your comment is fair enough.

Do you also think it would be best for the club to retain McLardy and Schwab in the longer term?

When I say "fundraising" i'm talking about "holding the cap out to supporters".

I am certainly not referring to corporate relations/sponsorship, efficient business practices nor anything else that could be considered "financial acumen".

'Holding the cap out' was a means to climb out of an existing financial mire.

The 'financial acumen' is staying there. So far so good.

Funny thing I think both boards have a lot to answer for, I'm interested in how we fix this going forward for no other reason than I want the club to be a success.

exactly. The past is done.

How the hell do we repair this trainwreck??

the AFL are the ones who set this system up (draft) & then let it be manipulated when it suited them.

This, is the reason why things got out of control. They, should sack themselves. allowing favors here and there, corrupts the system.

I've got significant reservations but the immediate key for me is about our best current course of action in relation to the tanking issue.

In my view, the best chance we have of preventing our club from being completely crippled is for the guilty parties to go to the AFL

Aye, two birds with the one stone - if that comes to pass you should buy a Powerball ticket.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
