No mention of our most recent past club champion who wore No 22 in the article.

What was his name???

Was Brian Keneally a club champion? A good winger who later became a rebounding HBF I think in the 64 flag side.

More interesting though is "promoting" a rookie to #22 - seems to show intent on keeping him beyond this year.

We gave Evans 32 for 2012 so probably...

I like the idea that 31 is given to the captain (whoever it is), like Richmond does with 17.

Hard to do it currently with the co-captains.

Or maybe we could allocate 11 to the captain (or 37) ...............

I finally got something right! Grimes in 31.

I might be wrong here but I thought we retired a number after Troy Broadbridge died.

Can someone fill me in?

I thought Belly wore it because he was Broadbridges best mate.....Could be wrong here....

Bell was in the locker next door in #21. I like the idea of retiring jersey numbers in the US, but it's different here. We've got 154 years of tradition and we can't just start shelving numbers.

Yes it is strange that we have these numbers free. Not great thinking in terms of marketing. "Hi Dad. Now Liam is gone, who is number 24". No one !!!! Huh.

Maybe give both of them 15 1/2 ?

Can someone please verify which is which because the website says:

CLISBY

STARK

MitchClisby.jpg

BOTH (Clisby left and Stark right)

StarkandClisbyNumbersL.jpg

Clisby is older but less defined than the 18 year old we picked up? Doesn't seem to add up.

Stark is ripped young thing if the website is correct...

Dom Barry has been given No. 33, which was worn by fellow indigenous players Jeff Farmer, Byron Pickett and Austin Wonaeamirri in recent times

fantastic, hopefully he can honour that number and provide the lengthy and consistent careers of his predecessors

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
