WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

Recommended Posts

Neeld has seen Collingwood's twin-tall forward structure in full motion and I'm sure he wants to replicate it here.

Lynch is out and Tippett will break the bank. Pedersen, Casboult and any others mentioned are depth at best.

It's Dawes or Hogan, I reckon. Wishing for both.

Surely we have to stall Tippett from the Pies. Don't we want the Suns to spend their Pick 2 on the Tippett deal?

If collingwood have added Q lynch to their stocks then i wouldn't be surprised if Dawes was to be pushed out.

He showed a year or so ago that he can play, he was right along side cloke as their big forwards! He is just down on confidence and when that comes back i would expect him to return to his previous form and be a consistently accurate goal kicker :) would be nice to get him if this does happen

He never got the best backman this year and barely got a kick.

As mentioned earlier Butcher and even Gumby would be far better options, especially Butcher.

No one has indicated how they think we might be able to get Butcher. Is he actually on the table? As far as I can tell he signed a 2 year contract extension last year so is contracted until the end of next season. Has he actually said he wants out of Port or is this just another trademark Demonland fantasy trade?

hahaaha

yeah Martin is totally better than a 24 year old key forward who kicked a combined 57 goals and took a combined 200 marks in Collingwoods two grand final years

what a joke

Martin is nothing, he has done nothing at AFL level and never will.

Dawes will be the perfect support for Mitch inside forward 50. I hope we land him.

time will tell hogan

one on one i will back martin every time for speed agility ..sad he didn't get to play for collingwood in the two grand final years. "martin is nothing"? tippett would be a good pick up though. a f in g good pick up.

I believe he has been tanking all year ( a perfect fit of Melbourne) and was missing Leroy Brown and Neeldy.

Collingwood must pay out his final year of contract just like we did when we got rid of Woey.

He'll be cherry ripe after a pre-season under Misson.

Just Dreamin!

This is an interesting one.

He was a very good player in 2010 and alright in 2011.

This year everyone saw that he was pretty much hopeless with no confidence!

I would just like to make a few points for you guys to think about.

All this information comes from one of his family members so for me I regard this as 99% of the truth.

■ He has played less then 5 games over the last 2 seasons without injections. He has struggled a lot with injuries with his hand causing alot of problems which has seen him lose a lot of confidence in his marking! Also struggled with knees and shoulders.

■ I also know for a fact he and Mick didn't get on very well. It was in fact Buckley his forward coach of 2010 and 2011 who he has a great relationship with!!!

■ As we all know a number of clubs, including Melbourne were prepared to spend big $650,000+, but he stayed because he loved the club. He is on only $350,000ish.

I have no idea whether he is coming to us or staying at the Pies. I just thought I would add what I know to this discussion.

I think Old55 has this sorted. Pies looking to return to the forward structure that won them a flag. If however, Dawes is forced out due to salary cap constraints, he could certainly play a role with us. At the very least he could spread the opposition defence & reduce the double-teaming that Clark cops.

If he does end up looking for a new home, you'd think the Bulldogs would be barking and would be prepared to offer up more than most. Their forward line makes our midfield look well stocked.

Forced out / offered up / placed "on the table" etc

The only way I see him leaving is if the Magpies sit him down and say "you will not get a game in the seniors next year and possibly into the future also" forcing Dawes to agree to a trade.

Otherwise he will not be forced out, offered up or placed on the table.

McCartney has already said that the bulldogs are not interested in participating in the FA/trade period, focusing on the draft this year

12 months ago I'd have been alot more excited about this, but to say he's been cod ordinary this year would be paying the guy a compliment. The last type of player we need to be recruiting is a passenger.

Christ I hope Neeld knows what he's doing.

Maybe port would use Cale to advantage? Both under performing & in need of a change.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
