"And the Crows are learning of a third club - one based in Melbourne rather than AFL premier Sydney - that has joined Queensland-based clubs Gold Coast and Brisbane in seeking the 25-year-old giant."

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... Let's hope Tip has a bit of Mitch Clark syndrome when it comes to his homesickness cure

Think it said a major melbourne club. We are not that.

Slow down people. Think this through. Tippett is leaving a club that came within 1 kick of a GF. Why? He has mates there. They have offered him a very large contract. The word is that Lions and GC have offered a bit less, but his reason for leaving was to go home. Now we have Carlton and Sydney mentioned. Is it not possible that he is going home, but his manager is using other clubs to get more money from GC or Lions.

My prediction is he will be playing in Queensland and probably GC, for pick 2, or a player and a lower pick that they might get for Caddy. GC will then use pick 2 on Jack Martin and won't nominate JV.

If Adelaide get their hands on Pick 2, they will definitely nominate Viney!!

Why not Grundy, as a replacement for Tippett?

I don't think they will go a tall as they brought in Jenkins last year to cover for Tippett plus they also have McKernan. Toumpas is a top quality kid ready to go, not saying Grundy isn't but they already have Jacobs (still a young player and stiff to miss AA) doing the ruck work and being used as a forward pinch hitter in the ruck would not help his (Grundy's) development. Rucks need to ruck, the WC situation is different as Cox is coming to the end, it's a succession plan and both him and Niknat are handy up forward, Jacobs is not.

I just don't think it's a given that they would go with Grundy, it looks right as a replacement and they may well go that way but Toumpas would be hard to pass up. To me he is at least on par with Whitfield and I hope he falls through to us, I've been on about us getting him since last year.

They wont get pick 2 for Tippet that is massive overs, it will be something like Gorringe and a second round pick imo.

edit maye the pick they get for Caddy will be more apporopriate but something like that Gorringe and a pick between 10-20

He is 203 cm, 25 years old, normally plays between 18-22 games a year, kicks around 40-50 goals per year, maybe bit low on his accuracy, reliable to take the number one defender every time, Adelaide paying him around 600K per year - but he is "inconsistent"????

I would have thought he might be poorly understood in Victoria - but highly sought after in Queensland - strange. Geez if this bloke played in a Collingwood jumper and was a Victorian, there would not be a club in Victoria that would not be after him.

that's true. a footnote at 25 he's still maturing.

Why not offer them Lawrence and our 5th round draft pick ? You do realise that the crows have put a contract on the table that will earn him in the vacinity of $700K per year. Does that sound like a player you would nab for Bate and a second round draft pick ?

Direct trade for Cook :-))

How's Adelaide's development (and then subsequent loss) of talented KPPs been.

In recent years they've lost Bock, Otten, Gunston and now Tippett (off the top of my head) and they still have blokes like Rutten, Talia and Walker running around for them.

I rated their list very highly a couple of years ago, they really have been unlucky, especially with the expansion clubs.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
