Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So Boyd or Aish to us next year?

We will improve next year back to a 7-15 type year at a minimum. I think we will be around 12-14th, with Suns, Power, GWS and Dogs below us. This would give us a pick 5 approx, and we would target Jack Billings from Oakleigh. He is mid/fwd now, but in 2013 will be more of a midfielder. Hard at it and can deliver. has very good skills. Watch out for him in the TAC Cup GF this weekend.

Footnote - get Jesse Hogan (post number 12 in favour of).

Or Matt Couch, Brad from last year MD's brother, but Couch, Billings and kelly alla look like good mids

Freo apparently very keen on Hogan (source: print version of The Age) but I can't see how they could outbid our pick 3 or 4.

Hogan had "work experience" at Fremantle as part of the AIS program back in April. No doubt they sussed him out then.

But don't tell their fans that we have pick 3 or 4. They seem hell-bent on pick 16 and a swathe of fringe players being good enough.

Surely delisting Jay Van Berlo will hurt their chances.

I would think and this is one that they all suggested but makes some sense, IF Giles leaves GWS need a ruck, pick 16 and Clarke who could be GWS's first ruck would be tempting but not enough i admit.

Could Martin be a good piece in the MD puzzle? played first ruck for about 12 games not long ago?

I just hope Neeld doesn't look past him because he won't be able to play till 2014 and Neeld only has 2 years left in his contract to get us up the ladder.

Definitely need a future forward considering Watts isn't developing as the forward we all thought he would.

Why ? What are you expecting next season ?

Do you think Adelaide supporters are now concerned that they waited a year to see Dangerfield play ? If we're holding up the cup in 2017 with Hogan dominating I doubt you'll be too concerned that Hogan played at Casey for a year in 2013.

Expecting better than 2012.

If the media is correct about the likes of Cook and Gysberts then that suggests Neeld is more about improvement right now than he is about developing.

Getting a KPF from 2014 onwards would appear to go against that.

Getting a KPF from 2014 onwards would appear to go against that.

Why does getting better now and developing need to be mutually exclusive ?

Our excellent hand at the draft, plus compensation for Moloney dictates that we can address needs now, as well as take and develop Hogan for a year.

Also, Neeld making a call on Cook, or Gysberts simply means he doesn't think they're good enough, or work hard enough. It doesn't necessarily mean he's not about developing. Coaches make calls on players every year. In Hogan out Cook is about as good as it gets.

I think Neeld is about effort, intensity, and talent. Not timelines on being good.

He and Misson treated 2012 like an extended Pre-Season with the amount of high-octane sessions they made the boys do during the first half of the season.

Anyway, we will soon see.

That's one way of looking at it.

Another would be going into the 2014 season having a top 3 pick with 18-22 games under his belt on the list instead of a young KPF hopeful with no AFL experience.

Albeit one who is 193cms tall, 90+ kgs and just played a managed season in the VFL...

The thing, well a few things worry me about Hogan. Has he played any senior level football this year? I know he is in his first year at 18's level but Toumpas played in a senior premiership in the SANFL at that age. Is he really that good? question mark on his kicking for one thing and this is not easily fixed. Should we really risk a high draft pick on him? what can we get from this years draft that may be as good or better and a year advanced? Stringer, Toumpas, Macrea, Membrey etc.

I don't know the answers but am not sure about picking him up, it doesn't feel right to me.If I were picking up a 17 yo I would like to have seen him playing good football at senior level like O'Meara last year and not just the colts.

I know we need another kpf, but is this just wishful thinking. Plays like Brown, well no he doesn't, for one thing Brown is a beautiful kick of the ball.

i agree 100 % people are blowing there pants off a bloke that cant kick for [censored] when there are blokes like toumpas Macrea who are gonna be elite mids in years to come.

Just remember one thing people is that James Sellar dominated if not had a more impressive underage football background then Hogan.. people can bring up the comparison about darling but atleast darling can kick! please MFC go for toumpas Macrea Membrey Wines instead of wasting it on a forward that we have to wait another year to pull on the red and blue!

in comparison to the other skills of the game, goalkicking is one of the easiest to fix. by training with the other forwards, as well as coaching from leigh brown, hogan could easily develop a new routine that would lead to more reliable kicking. if that's the only problem in his game then i don't think we have much to worry about if we pick him up

A question I have about Hogan is will he be in our system next year or will he want to finish school in Perth.

Like others I see a few risks with using such a high pick on an underage KPP and this is offset a bit If we have him at Aami park and can put a year into him.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
