WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN

Everything I've seen of this kid he looks like a player who can play as a key position forward for a decade from 2014 onwards.

There's no doubt in my mind that the deal was done to allow Viney to slide to #26, GWS to get the first three picks in total, and gc and Melbourne to get the two best available 17 year old selections.

Wines will be selected #4 - in truth, we may have used the pick on him had we been forced to select Viney with the previous pick.

I see these deals as win - win - win for all three clubs involved.

The likelihood is we will be bottom 5 next year, giving another opportunity to add another quality player to our list - the equivalent of 2 top 5 picks ready for 2014.

We will likely not be a finals side until at least 2015 in my opinion - horrifying, I know - but by that stage the guy we are looking at as our prime key forward will have had three years in the system.

im always a bit wary of picking WA kids, theres a huge go home factor for perth kids. adelaide kids seem stoked to get out of that shithole but perth kids seem to love going home.

Love to know what Neelds questions were... And the answers

Question 1 : Does your father harbour ambitions to be an AFL recruiter?

Question 2 : What is the difference between $100,000 and $1,000,000

answer = zero

does anyone know over the last 10 years, how many kids have been drafted from WA? and of those kids, how many ended up going home? i imagine it would be a fairly low percentage. Hogan nominated for the mini-draft, knowing that West Coast and Freo would be extremely unlikely to get him. i don't think we have any problems. and for what its worth, i love the fact that we drafted him. i think he is going to be a superstar of the competition, which we haven't had for a long, long time.

Someone please tell me he is coming to Melbourne next year to train and develop in Casey. Because if not that is a massive loss for us.

melbourne melbourne have said that he will be over with us to train for the whole year, so he will have a massive advantage over all other draftees that year :)

MFCSS is rife in this thread

"Oh noes we paid overs"

"Oh noes he will end up leaving for home"

"Oh noes he can't kick"

FFS, he hasn't even set foot at the club yet and already some are fretting and criticizing him?

Get a life people!

This "he might go home" fear is really nauseating. Do you think Hawthorn fans pizzed and moaned that Buddy might return to WA when they drafted him? No way. Why? Because they're a strong club with a successful outlook, confident that their best players will never want to leave.

This is the way we at the MFC must think.

I just hope poor naive 17 year old Jesse isn't Googling himself right now!

If you are, then hi, and please go back to Facebook. You're safe there.

Gee we are so very very easily satisfied!! Hogan will not even be available till 2014 and we are already doing summersaults.

Lets just all wait eh and salivate later !!!

This coming from a bloke that still salivates over Michael Newton.

I know I shouldn't say this, but by God some Melbourne supporters are flogs.

Good evening to you too, H!

I agree.

Ok, to me. This is ironic. Not because you are wrong, because you are right. But because I wrote similar sentiments last year...

Remember this kid is only 17! He's a year behind the kids we're usually looking at, at this time of year. what other 17 year old is 197cmish and 100kg? Thats unreal! he's that big, and still incredibly fast, with a lot more development in him to go. I'm not complaining.

Brilliant!

Don't think the home sick factor will be as big here. Word is he barracks for Melbourne and seems excited to come across. Shame he can't play next year.

Don't worry Munga. He seems very keen to play with Melbourne and is a Melbourne supporter.

Jesse Hogan supported Adelaide as a kid. Confusion has spawned from a Tweet Emma Quayle made regarding The Age journalist who shares his name with our latest acquisition and is a fanatical MFC supporter.

He's a Crows supporter, for the record.

I remember them well!

Difference is RR has written 'this is how MFC should think"

where as yours were more like. "we are the MFC, We hold on to our best young talent" - a little more matter of fact but same sentiment

It was a sentiment.

I may be powerful, but I can't see the future...

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
