At a rough estimate based on 2012 form, Hogan would be likely top 4 next year alongside Martin, Kelly, and Billings, who unlike the other three is not eligible for mini-draft selection.

Hogan stands out cos he's not a mid - he's a giant key forward built like a brick outhouse.

If we do get him in the next few weeks, does he stay on WA in 2013 to continue schooling or does he move to Victoria straight away?

Hogan is meant to be in the top 4 next years draft, so how is it that we want to pay pick 3 (already overs) and 13 when he cant play for a year.

I cannot see the logic behind it, we payed pick 12 for Clark who was a ready made taller version of Hogan.

Please do not take him with 2 first rounders, draft Toumpas/Garlett instead as they will have a bigger impact and worry about a Gorilla via Dawes or future drafts.

This price is almost as ludicrous as GC wanting 2 first round picks for Caddy

Pick 24 they also have. Maybe our pick 45 for their 24.

We should ask for Jed Anderson instead of Barry. Looking at phantom drafts Jed is meant to be a late first rounder/early 2nd rounder while Barry is meant to be a deep into the 4th round player.

Anyway, in the wash-up, what you or I or anyone else say means nothing... the club will make the choices it sees fit to make. They did well to get Viney to 26 when he could just as easily have gone for 3. The club has obviously entered an agreement with GC to get that done and so if that means we are getting Hogan for what is essentially pick 13 as well as Barry and pick 20 for pick 26, then I have no issue with that at all.

10 years ago I would say that it would be worth it when FFs like Dunstall, Locket, Carey ect could kick bags of 10 but these days its more of an open game where teams need a range of players to be able to kick goals to mix it up more.

Hogan is 194cm and already 97 kg at 17. Wow. But importantly, he has pace, aggression, loves physical contact, is agile, a good field kick, a very good mark and doesn't look out of place running through the midfield.

He's exactly what we need. You win premierships with a guy like this and a stellar midfield. Pick 3 and 13 for Hogan, 20 and Barry is a win for this club. Hogan would be a top 5 selection next year, but what is attractive is that we make certain of getting our man and have the opportunity to develop him for a year. He'll debut as a 19 year old and be ready to impact. I really like Darling, but Hogan is a rung above due to his size.

I'll be going to as many games at Casey next year as I can.

Id prefer the first option but that said see what happens, what Harrington said yesterday gave me the impression that the compo picks were off the table to be traded, then all this popped up so it could be just media spin again (the pick 13 part). They love making up rumors with our pick 13, first Caddy, then Dawes, now Hogan.

There is definitely more to this then meets the eye if pick 13 is involved. Possibly to do with Viney 2nd rounder or even a clause for GWS to leave Toumpas to our pick #4

I think that a big body like Stringer and a classy quick mid like Garlett would add more. Remember that we have next years trade/draft period to also pickup a big Forward who could also start in 2014.

Boyd is in the draft and GWS wont take him as they already have Cameron and Patton. GC arn't looking for a power forward so if we can trade into a high enough pick we could possibly snare him their, and he is better then Hogan.

What is the point having Clark and Hogan in the forward line if we do not have enough sharp kicking skillful mids to get it down their and hit them on the [censored].

The only thing I care about is winning a flag. Hogan puts us significantly closer to that goal and waiting 1 year for a player that can help us win a flag in 5 years is a no brainer. Dangerfield went to the Crows at 17 and didn't play for a year. Do you think their supporters now care ?

It's not hard to pick up goal kicking mids. Sloane was a pick in the 40's, Beams 29, Sydney picked up Kennedy who couldn't get a regular game at Hawthorn, Kieran Jack was a rookie, Port got Brad Ebert in a trade, Shuey was pick 19, Rockliff was a rookie, etc. How easy do you think it is to get a top line power forward, such as Franklin, Brown in his heyday, Cloke at his best, the emerging Taylor Walker, Hawkins ?

And guess what ? Four of those 5 have premiership medallions hagning around their neck.

I am happy to agree to dis-agree on this one.

I hope we take O Rourke over Toumpas/Wines. Thinking about it more and watching some clips last night of the u18s I thought that he seemed to have more x-factor and ball-magnet ability.

The way he played was also a mixture of both inside/outside mid and the way he moved was really unpredictable. Out of the 3 I think he would be the best to shake a tag.
