Id be very impressed if he pulled the pin.

So what's his options? Retire or ask for trade with a team willing to pick up his contract yeah?

Anyone else get the feeling there's been a not too subtle meeting of the coach and players behind closed doors that's seen some finally decide not to "buy in"?

Such a shame, was in great form, showing great leadership.... Oh I can't even continue with this sarcastic jab...

Good, clean out every softy from this club.

Didn't see the report but is he looking to pull the pin or be traded?

Didn't say, just said was "reconsidering his future at MFC".

See my post above about trade etc, pretty sure he doesn't have many options.

I cant see he has an option to go into the trade bin. Times caught up. :(

Regardless it's VERY interesting. He is another of the "old firm" as I like to put it who have been with the club for a while but haven't been up and about for the last few seasons. While I have loved Flash and what he brought to the club it's clear that he isn't the player he used to be and, like Beamer and to a lesser extent Green, would be the main culprits when it came to going missing in big games.

I'd be sad to see him either traded or retire but, in terms of moving forward, it's a positive move (again!) for the club after the last 6 years. The wheels are turning.

Can anyone hand-over-heart declare that Davey will be of any use next year?

He's undisciplined and totally behind in fitness.

I will applaud him if he makes the call.

Posted

Be sad to see him go, should the story have any legs. Thought he showed some glimpses this year, maybe not enough for him to go on though.

His lost his speed and with out that Davies is really no use to us.

Loved him as a kid it will be Sad to see him go.

Loved watching him play, however think it is time to move on.

he will get a trade for his kicking maybe a 3rd round pick

Makes sense, but it is Davey's call of course.

I imagine the club would be comfortable letting him go.

I so much look forward to the time when we have even a few players who are consistenty contenders for the best and fairest, instead of the string of one or two year wonders that pepper out honour board at the moment.

At least Nathan Jones has shown a picture of consistency and progress through his career. That's the kind of thing I want noted at the end of year functions.

If I were him, I'd certainly be looking somewhere else.

ya reckon ?

He's now a couple of yards slower than required. His body is dishing up some unfortunate luck with injuries.

Hes 29, he'll be 30 not long into season 13.

Oh yeah baby sign him up....can hear this from far and wide....those FD's will be lining up

A few years ago, his mother said she wanted to see her boys reunited at the one club.

Perhaps a trade with the Bombers for that Angus character?

hmm.. a little bit of logic there sire

Isn't Angus Monfries a restricted free agent?

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
