I actually "got it " too. My point is why muck around with euphemisms?

I like euphemisms

They make me laugh.

Three players have walked out on the club in last couple of years: Wonna, Lawrence and now Liam.

Join the dots????

Hey at least LJ didn't walk out because we were tanking......(thx Brock)

He just waits till the pre season draft deluded.

That is how we got Joel McDonald from Brisbane.

Just wait and as we had I think first pick we took him and Brisbane got nil

But preseason draft he won't be able to pick which team, & GWS, I think have many picks in that draft to come? Port won't be first cab off the rank, & certainly not Adelaide, thats for sure.

I think if he tries to manipulate the draft the AFL may step up to the plate.

I seem to remember they are contracted til oct 31 for this vey reason.

trade week ends oct 26.

Will be interesting

But bb it does not have to be done then.

he can wait for the pre season draft like Stevens did a few years ago.

went to Carlton and port got zero

Why is everyone hung up on it being done before the end of trade week?

Shattering news but not suprising really. Once LJ went to Adelaide without telling the club I knew this was on the cards.

For the record I reckon LJ will enter the PS and rookie drafts and will be overlooked. He'll be approached by Port and will sign on to play the 2013 season with Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL where Port can watch his form and work rate. Then if he doesn't end up in jail and his form is sound Port will try and draft him the following season. Probably in the 2013 PSD.

As for other posters suggesting Rivers is off to Geelong, the only thing mentioned of that was Gerard Healy two weeks ago saying he's be a good fit down there given Scarlett is retiring and Rivers is a free agent. He didn't say anything of it being a done deal or Geelong even approaching or being keen on Rivers. I suspect and hope he stays, but with our long list of KPD it wont be the end of the world if he were to.

And as for Howe changing numbers, I'm happy for him to keep number 38, but if he were to change he should take number 18. Also worn by a great Tasmanian!

And as for people's concerns about Darwin. I agree the crowds are a concern. I'd like to see us try the new roof stadium in Dunedin NZ. St. Kilda can have the north Island, we'll take the south! Playing a home game a year under the roof there might help us with our form at Docklands?

Perspective.

glass half full, or half empty.

I've been waiting for this end of season to start, & it's hit with a bang.. Bulls eye straight off the top.

This will be the making of our club, the cleanup over the next 6 or so weeks.

dee-luded I explained elsewhere. but hear goes.

He has stated it is Adelaide he wants to live.

Draft selection will be GWS GCS MFC Dogs and then Port.

With all his baggage and family issues GWS and CGS will pass.

MFC won't pick him and why would the dogs he won't come back to Melbourne that leaves Port.

If any of the first four pick him he says no thanks and plays in the SANFL

So disapointing he wont be with us next year and he's gonna be a force if he lines up with adelaide...

Alright mfc time to pull up your socks and get us something of value for him...anyone think a playr + 2nd rnd pick is out of the question?

lines up with adelaide , you are joking , pfft will never play afl again , bet ya !

While the thought of him playing for an Adelaide club makes me want to chunder, I'm not shattered. Once his court date was scheduled for March, there was little chance we could offer him another contract if we're being honest with ourselves. You can't give a guy another 1-2 years on the list if there's a decent chance he'll be spending that time in the slammer.

We might as well get all of this malarkey over and done with in one year while we're desensitised.

All right, I'll say this, plenty of people say plenty of things. Believe it when it happens.

If he does the wrong thing by us, we could re draft him.

And don't discount GWS, yet OD. And just because he says he wants to go to Adelaide, presumably because it's closer to his family, he still hasn't got to which club he wants or wants him.

And there is nothing to stop other clubs picking him. And nothing to stop the AFL deregistering him either.

If he is been proven guilty, I doubt he'll have a license to play. And if he tries to manipulate the draft, there could be more issues.

I have not heard it bb

But you may be right.

It would mean more restraint of trade which I doubt the players union would agree to.

They want way less restrictions not more so I doubt it but I do not put myself up as an expert

As a 25-year-old-euphonium player, can I claim to be a youth euph?

That would be a serious case of cutting of your nose to spite your face dee-luded.

He would not come back just play SANFL and we would have a wasted spot on our list.

You also seem to miss the point that his family is way more important than AFL.

Kiss him goodbye and lets use the spot for someone who wants to play with the MFC

I'm not a happy camper right now. I have to admit that I do not wish him well. It's not that he's decided to leave the club. I could stomach that. But he's gone down the path of Jeff Farmer and screwed us on his way out the door. The proper way to handle this would have been to quietly tell the club his decision and let them shop him around to the Adelaide clubs to see if they could get a bite. Instead, he's gone public, leaving us without a leg to stand on. We now have no chance of trading him and will be forced to watch as he is picked up in the rookie draft by PA. So, sorry Liam. I loved watching you play, and I stuck by you and defended you right 'til the end, but you've thrown it all in our faces and as far as I'm concerned you can go back to playing barefoot on a round patch of dirt in central Australia. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Jurrah to Adelaide makes no sense. They are top four, travelling well and don't need his soap opera with all its distractions.

Port might take a chance but not until 2014 when he's 25 and two years out of the AFL system even if he plays SANFL. That presumes he does avoid a conviction which I think he will.

While his talent means Port would not rule him out entirely I reckon they'd be wary.

He has treated us poorly although the pressures on him we probably can't understand. Surely he'd have been better able to fund his legal defence if he was still contracted with us.

In a football sense I am with those who suspect we have seen the best of him.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
