As we are now at VFL finals, blokes like the Russian may not have played enough games to qualify. Spencer probably has. Maybe it is not a demotion for Spencer, but making the best possible ruckman who has qualified for VFL available. Same for Jizzer. Would be great for some of these guys to get finals experience, even at VFL level.

What are the qualification requirements for the VFL finals?

Also, watching Tynan play last Saturday, he looks to have a really good build for an AFL player. He's bulking up nicely and I think he may turn out to be a bargain given he was taken in the third round.

Tynan is a beauty, from the skinny kid who walked into the club at the start of the season he is already looking stronger. He looked good to me to Casey last week and deserves the call up. Only injury has held him back this year.

Something interesting to watch at least.

Looking forward to seeing what Fitz and Tynan can do.

Otherwise it's going to be another seriously painful night watching the footy.

Thank goodness this is the end of 2012. Worst. Season. Ever!

He will be going to Perth as an emergency so won't play for Casey

Casey plays on Sunday.

Casey plays on Sunday.

Please don't say he and two others are catching the Red eye back to play for Casey.

Did not happen with the emergencies earlier in the year

Why now? we have never helped Casey that much in the past.

Apart from building up his body and his aerobic capacity, Gysberts also needs to learn some basics like where to run, where to position himself around the ground and to improve his disposal. Perhaps these weaknesses are 'fixable', but imo he will need have a huge summer if he is going to make it at the top level. I'm not at all surprised that he is not in the team this week, especially on the expanses of Subi.

Great to see Fitzy getting a run.

Not a great vote of confidence in Spencer to bring Russian back in for the final round.

Moloney is goneski.

Maybe Spencer is eligible for VFL Finals & Jamar may not be. Not to mention Jamar may need a rest, & Spencer has had a shortened season to date.

Casey will miss Fitzpatrick, so I hope they can get up & maintain momentum. Then Fitz may be allowed (hopefully) to return to the Casey team.

I'd like to see the Jett back as well.

Pretty much exactly the same stats, except that Gysberts has been more consistent. Seems a somewhat strange decision.

Stuie, how have those 2 been training this Year?

Some strange decisions, some seemingly dumb decisions, and quite possibly and underwhelming end to one MFC hardnuts career...

IN: Jamar, Fitzpatrick, Tynan

OUT: Green (ret.), Strauss, Spencer

EMG: Gysberts, Strauss, Spencer

For the life of me I can't understand putting Jamar back in for a big road trip in the last game of the season. Seems a silly risk to me.

Also can't understand Tynan getting a game ahead of Gysberts based on the last 2-3 weeks.

And looks like Beamer MAY have played his last game for MFC and will leave the club in very underwhelming circumstances.

Let's see ...

- Jamar for Spencer because Jacobs spanked Spencer last week

- Fitzpatrick the goalkicker in for Green forward

- Tynan in for Strauss back - they're vying for that role.

"Strange and dumb" for you - but makes sense to me.

Makes sense to me, too.

I think Sandilands would've also been factored into the Russian/Spencer decision.

Spencer goin up against Sandi for four quarters is a scary thought.

Playing Jamar for the last game of the season, on a massive road trip, after a long stint out with injury, seems silly to me. This game is inconsequential, the preseason is not.

Fitzy I'm happy with, deserved a shot a week or two ago.

Fair call about Tynan re:positioning, just thought Gys had earned a shot.

If Jamar gets injured I will be VERY unhappy.

Has anyone heard of there's an open training session in Perth today? Just flown in and can't find any news...

Probably too late.

Yeah it's at 4:30pm i believe.

Where?

Claremont oval?

Nah Paterson's.

Cheers mate.

He's got 6 weeks compulsory leave to get over it.

Spencer had 20 hitouts against Jacobs - 2 went to advantage. His work away from the ruck contest is quite good, but he needs to work on tapwork over summer. Seriously, Sandlilands would get leather poisoning against Jake at this stage.

Has Tynan's pace improved? If not, he will not go past Strauss (not that he is all that quick either).

Fitz should play high half forward. His running is a feature so playing him deep will help the defender.

Thank god this is the last game for the year. Bring on trade week.

Strauss might be a nice kick but he takes a aeon to get it from hand to boot. Also learned to handball from Cam Bruce - loopy specials. I like him but ...

Do you think a Jamar who has hardly played at all over the past ten weeks goin up against Sandi would make much difference?

Agree but Tynan has a lot of pluses.

Also may mean that they're going to let Spencer ruck thru for Casey,,, & Fitz's Yr may nearly be dusted.

We'll know in a couple of weeks.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
