Alterations made where appropriate:

I would be disappointed My fragile ego would be bruised if this thread were closed today. You are complicit in the "degeneration" of the thread as you continue to avoid the my issues, ignore the facts my fabrications and try to change the subject present well reasoned rebuttals. It is difficult to have a "meaningful discussion" in such a climate, particularly with someone (myself) who makes accusations that they continually refuse to support and who refuses to directly address the arguments of their opponent.

I am about ready to call it a day to be honest, but I have a few people to respond to and a few closing remarks to make before I do (and I don't have time to do this at the moment). It would be a shame for you to deny me this opportunity particularly when I have been so careful to avoid getting caught up in the abuse and irrelevance that has been directed at me from the moment I first posted in this thread. I note that your responsibilities as a moderator did not move you to comment on or to take action in any of these instances.

You deserve no opportunity, particularly when it is your own self motivated agenda that has brought on any (albeit it, quite mild) abuse; as for "irrelevance", it appears that is a word that you use to describe any comments that dispute your agenda.

I think if you are honest will admit to yourself that your true reason for wanting to close the thread is that you find it uncomfortable to be confronted by the facts and arguments that I am rasining. This is not responsible moderation, it is the equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and having a tantrum.

Well, as my mother always told me, we do tend to see our own faults in those around us.

I've left the decision on the thread to others.

As to your questions and your manner of debating, I don't respond to loaded and mischievous questioning and I have no respect for people who question my honesty.

I think I know who'll be having the tanty if the thread is closed. At least we'll be spared from your manipulative and skewed bile. Until next time of course.

Hazy you said...Your words that "Mclardy would not know his arse from his elbow"

Before this thread is locked i would like you to elaborate on this, as you said you would.

12 pages in and still no-one has been able to provide a satisfactory answer to the following questions:

Given that the Board were about to sack Schwab last year, what has Schwab done since then that could possibly justify giving him a three year contract now?

Given his patchy record, how does it benefit the club to give Schwab a three year contract instead of a standard ongoing employment contract with a notice period?

Closing the thread now would only serve to illustrate my point.

I won't be losing any sleep over it.

Given that the Board were about to sack Schwab last year, what has Schwab done since then that could possibly justify giving him a three year contract now?

A number of people have commented here about how Schwab appears to have taken the criticisms levelelled against him on board. He has stayed right away from matters football and has been very impressive in dealing with the raft of problems which this difficult year has presented the club.

Given his patchy record, how does it benefit the club to give Schwab a three year contract instead of a standard ongoing employment contract with a notice period?

Yet another loaded question because you presume his record has been patchy.

Given the level of satisfaction with his performance during the notice period, the Board has deemed him worthy of a term of three year period. Further details can be obtained by sending a respectful letter of enquiry to the Board or asking the question at the AGM.

Now that HSOG has been provided with a response, could somebody please close the thread?

Unless someone from the board was to answer these questions, no-one can give you a definitive answer. Was Schwab really about to be sacked, or was he asked to back off where player affairs were concerned and told to do what he does best? Just what exactly was his patchy record... there have indeed been 12 pages, and you are yet to provide anything concrete and refuse to disclose who you are or where your qualifications lie; the only statistics of any relevance were provided by PaulRB on page 11 and you responded that statistics were meaningless and proceeded to provide a fantasy "report card" as your rebuttal. How can anyone take you seriously????

The consensus among the moderators is that the topic be re-opened.

I do ask that people do try to not to be repetitive and that if you are going to comment you should post something new that will add to the discussion of the topic.

As alluded to in my above response to Ben Hur, the “perilous state of the club” was much exaggerated. I suspect that the previous Board gave way because they knew they wouldn't stand a chance against a club legend like Stynes in a popular election anyway and they thought it would be best for the club to avoid a contested election.

Some of the Board members sought assurances from Stynes before they left (this was before Stynes had even announced who he was planning to bring with him) and they were criticised for this in some quarters for not getting out of the way quick enough. At least one Board member offered to stay on (voluntary position remember) and help manage the transition but had his offer refused despite there being a vacancy on the new Board.

I also want what is best for the Melbourne Football Club. It is a great shame that the club is as fractured as it is.

We all want an effing flag.

$5mill in debt is not perilous with no assests to speak of? No footy dept spending, AFL house asking massive questions etc. I would suggest you're over playing your hand Hazy. As to fracturing the club... why don't you try and bring it back together? You clearly have been around the club at board level or have inside info so as A Jeans said DO SOMETHING but to untie the place not keep on the same lines of fracture, fracture leads to breakage, breakage deestruction...

I thought so too, but now I'm more inclined to think that HSoG is just someone someone who has a mean turn of phrase, but actually has very little substance...maybe it's Caro? ;-)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
