Would be interesting to see if the Argus Report was at least looked at. I doubt it though. Will read with interest what Caro has to say about the issue. Not being involved with the inner sanctum makes it hard to do comment but he clearly polarizes opinion. Being apart of the boys club helped him big time though

By the time we are winning more then we are losing and then win a flag I would Imagine the thread titles will be along the lines of " I told you Watts is better then Nic Nat" and "Faith in Morton has won us a flag" and comments will all be surrounded by Demonland demanding a 10 year contract for Neeld. No one will admit being wrong but rightfully so no one will care because we have the flag.

The thing that the Melbourne Football Club needs the most is unity and consistency at the top and the Board has decided to offer Cameron Schwab an extra three year contract.

This constitutes a fairly strong endorsement of a man who, as CEO, presided over a club whose financial position has improved from being in debt to the tune of $5m to a point where we are in a positive asset situation in excess of $6m.

I've never quite known why the angst about Cameron Schwab. His critics speak in whispered tones of his interference in football matters leading to the disasters of late July 2011. I still don't know if, in the end, he deserves to be damned or praised if this is in fact the truth.

We have a CEO who by all accounts is well respected by those high up at AFL and club level and on that basis, congratulations go all round on the appointment.

To those who don't like it, get over it - it's time to move on.

Stating that someone is "by all accounts is well respected by those high up at AFL and club level" is not a compelling argument.

Neither is telling people to "get over it" and "move on".

You always refer to people who disagree with you on this subject in fanciful ways. Restless ghouls rattling chains, dark acolytes whispering and so on. I'd like to know who exactly you are referring to when you make these kinds of comments because I am simply a flesh and blood supporter who never drank the Kool-Aid.

The most desperate need of the Melbourne Football Club is not consistency at the top - it is accountability. Something that has been sorely lacking around the place for the last few years.

Ans as for Schwab's financial performance, the three biggest determining factors in our asset turnaround have almost nothing to do with Schwab:

1. Donations (thank the supporters)

2. Bentleigh Club (thank the previous two Boards)

3. Changes to TV rights/stadium deals (dumb luck/thank the AFL)

And while I'm at it, don't give me any of that new facilities rubbish either because he didn't have to lift a finger for any of it.

The two financial areas that Schwab has had control over are:

1. Sponsorship (has been an absolute train wreck)

2. Operations (has doubled the non-football staff for no benefit, still rattling the tin and hasn't got a sustainable business model despite the points listed above)

And then there are the non-financial things like leadership, corporate culture/structuring, corporate relations, media/PR, just to name a few. Schwab gets a fail on every one of these measures.

As for the idea that Schwab breeds unity, first of all that is not always a good thing (e.g. boys club), secondly, it is a laughable proposition. Schwab is a poster boy for divisiveness.

Cameron's legacy will be as follows:

- Bloated off-field department

- Unsustainable business model

- Waste

- Stupid logo

- Stupid blazers

- Poisonous culture

and last but not least

- A big pay out that the club can ill afford because he has convinced his mates to give him a three year deal

Actually, what the club really needs are supporters with enough brains to hold the Club's administration to account - because we know that both Schwab and the Board are unable to do this for themselves or each other.

You missed the point. Nothing I wrote detracts from the fact that club officials need to be accountable and that's a given.

The fact is that despite heavy scrutiny and a strong campaign by his detractors in both the media and among some who call themselves supporters of the club, Cam has the support of the Board and apparently the endorsement of the AFL and accordingly, has been appointed as CEO for the next three years.

He now needs to be allowed to do his job if we're going to succeed at our core business which is to ultimately produce a successful football team.

My point is that we need a unified club and strong leadership at the top to move forward and make that happen.
