Who should we pick up?

I don't know if he's been mentioned but given that Geelong appears to be showing interest in some of our players why not consider someone like Mitch Brown who has been there for four years and hasn't become a regular with the likes of Hawkins, Podsiadly and now Walker ahead of him?

I started a Josh Walker Thread after watching some TAC games a couple of years ago, was surprised to see him go as a rookie. He was exactly what we needed but what do I know about footy.

Guest José Mourinho

I get amused by all the potential trades thrown up revolving around crud players getting traded back to their home state.

There's this strange assumption that interstate clubs will happily take spuds onto their list so they can play at home.

Guys like Petterd need to go to whatever club will have them, because there's not a great demand, if there is any at all.

There is no way in hell, that I trade Tappscott!

His apatite for the contest and grunt work of the ball is what this club is crying out for..... If anything I would recruit more like him....

We are about to lose Moloney and people want to trade the only other player on our list with a bit of grunt..... Far out....

Grunt work and hardest is good, but you need to get the ball more than 10 times a game to be of any use imo.

I like tappy, and whilst i agree he needs to find the ball more often, hes a good player and is a long terrm prospect for us

Tapscott is still developing his game, he's young.... He'll be a better player than Moloney, when he's at his peck..... He's got the hardness and the grunt that Moloney has + he dose the 1% and his kicking skills are great.... He'll get more of the ball, as he and the team get better ...

He's a definite keeper for me ...

He also happens to be the best mate of one of our captains ...

Mitch Brown has had 4 years at the Cattery and for a #15 1st round pick has shown nought. Still skinny arms and shoulders "heavily strapped". Would be a Lucas Cook with 2 extra years. a big "pass" (aka NO) from me.

Tapscott offers more than stats. Hardness, physical intimidation, good skills, no shortcuts. He busts a gut. One to keep.

Not sure about amazing but hopefully he will be a good get IF we can get him. At this stage I think it is highly unlikely we will win many "raids" as the climate seems to be very few players leaving established top 8/contending sides especially for MFC at this stage disappointingly.

All these below are options and we can't or wont take them all but consideration for me is on good ball users, some talls and players with decent size no more skinny kids after seeing Sydney, Adelaide, Pies, Hawks and others show the advantages when it counts in finals

Andy Otten was very good for Adelaide yesterday ball use was what we need and targetting him is what Swans do by targetting a payer that is on the fringe but has good quality

Chris Knights another Crow I like who has proven himself at AFL level

Gumbleton - Bombers have to many talls and now they found the bone spurr as the cause of his back problems he has put games together

Ben Jacobs - shown some good signs in his time at Port and if he wants to go back to Victoria good option

Caddy - shown glimpses and has by all accounts a few clubs chasing him but what is he worth

Draft

Mids with potential body size and tanks Viney, Toumpas, O'Rourke, Wines

Forwards - MD trade one of our picks to get Hogan but if not Mason Shaw good young kid fro South Fremantle good size and can take a grab, kicked 5 today in Colts GF and continually ran to present leads,

Small Forwards - Dayle Garlett is highly spoken of but would not use a first round pick on him, have not seen Ben Kennedy or Tim Membrey but he will move up the order after today

Recycled Players

Tom Lee - good thrid tall option up forward, Mark Hutchings - finished 2nd to Kane Mitchell in the Sandover medal but uses the ball better

So with that would not mind

Otten, Knights, Jacobs, Toumpas, O'Rourke or Hogan MD, Membrey, Viney, Tom Lee and add another high profile recruit

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
