Trade rumours

I don't want Nahas or Riewoldt. Both are overrated. Riewoldt would be a cultural disaster for us. All he does is point and yell. I think the plan is to get rid of those types.

Nahas would be a perfect small forward for us. Iv seen the guy change the flow of games on several occasions. Including against us.

Good news re Strauss - Wouldn't mind the Dees signing up Blease either!!!

Both finally starting to show potential!!!

Anyway back to the rumours - I think we get compensation from the AFL if Rivo decides to leave????? And yes he is a Un-restricted FA and can move to any club he likes....

If riv or Moloney leave I hope we get a late 2nd rounder at least.

also mentions that charlie dixon could be on the move. if we could get a deal done that involved day and dixon (although this is obviously unlikely to happen), we could go along way to building a young and promising forward line, a bit like wce with kennedy, darling, cox/naitanui and lynch

Day and Dixon -> Moloney, Petterd, 3rd round pick

YES!!! Dixon is a massive unit! Dixon & Clarky! Big forward line with Howe roving or pinch hitting!

Would have Dixon!

Someone of big fish staus will end up at MFC. The time has come where we can & will compete with all other clubs involving trades.

The Demons are ready to rock financially but will no doubt be smart about all trades.

This is as exciting as it gets for us this year being trade time which is sad.... but if this is what it takes then we go get em!

Can't divulge too much, but my mail tells me he's been wooed and is getting quite chuffed by the attention he's getting from a couple of clubs.

Oh dear.

Trust our luck that he pulls a great game out of his behind just as we get contract negotiations started.

FML!

Blease will stay, my mail is he's happy with club and Neeld. If as you say he's enjoying the attention it's because it's added $50-100k to his salary. But he will be in red & blue for the next 3 years at least

Hope so - but, I'm nervous as my mail is quite close to the boy.

btw, PSD, how's our small forward progressing, the left footer? is he still ripping them up?

Then they can pay overs for the kid.

Will be hard, players can leave if they are not in the clubs top 25% of paid players......would think we could match any bids that come our way if we are super keen to keep him, which we will be. Not 100% how all that side of free agency works.

Yep Richo still going well probably on target to kick 50 as a small forward, but in a very good side, Tigers have WAFL in the bag unless they fall into a massive hole, on the WAFL one kid worth a look at who could slip through to 40's/50's Marco Paparone decent size mid doesn't have great speed but does possess a good tank for a young in. Good footy brain and from the couple of games I've seen could be a poor mans Simon Black. Could be worth a punt if he is still there with our third round pick the kid seems to me to have great work ethic and to get the most out of himself, believe he would fit in well under Neeld

Whats this rule now?

I thought that if a player left they need to go into the draft?

i think he's getting mixed up with some new rule that's a part of free agency.

As i said i think its a free agency thing, but clubs can match the wages offered to some players, maybe the top 25% on their list, if they dont match the wages the player can leave. This may only be for restricted free agents or i am confused?

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
