Its a term most of us relate to during 2012 when we anticipated a climb up the ladder. Now with a handful of games left, the footy department is experimenting yet again in such a way our better players are not playing.

Why turn up? It's going to be ugly.

This football club has a lot of serious improving to do over the summer it it's to repay supporters faith. 6 years of sub-standard football. Neeld better have this group up and firing for 23 games next year, not the piddle amount of 2 or 3 . Our pre-seasons have been better to watch than the real season.

The only reason I will go this week is to watch greeny run around otherwise it's just a joke.

Most of what you have written is crap. To reply to the heading, yes. I'm dudded and I'm angry.

I don't do tips anymore and I feel like its cricket season again. I don't blame my relatives cause they barrack for essendon. I pay for melbourne Football club and have been through hard times. I having trouble gearing up yet again.

My relatives are not members. More fool me. I'm nearly over it.

Ok.. just for kicks i'll asume there is genuine intent and ideal about the OP.

I reckon if most of us are 100% honest we all feel a little 'had' from time to time. But in reality thats just teh lot of being a Melbourne suporter. our sister 'mascot; ought to be Charlie Brown...hey Lucy !!

I do feel in all seriousness there will need to be a serious resurrection come 2013 otherwise we'll fall further and further into the abyss, never to return.

Those that support a footy club purely on the speculation of success and the glory of cups I suppose actually misses the point.

Man up pal. Being a Dee's supporter is character building - show some balls and stick fat

Screw Manning Up , sticking Fat, character building [censored].

I agree with Soidee - 6 Years of sub - standard Football is enough.

I have stuck fat for nearly 50 years & right now this side is sucking the life out of my passion for this great game.

I am taking no shots at Neeld here, I actually love the bloke, but for the sake of every Demon supporter's sanity

we have to begin to take some positive steps forward on the field from 2013.

6 Years FFS is long enough.

Driving home on that wet Friday night in September 2006 after we had taken The Saints out of the finals seems like a lifetime ago.

Yep feeling pretty duped also @ this point in time.

Not a Neeld bashing....it's our stinking culture.

For those who dont feel duped after bottoming out more than once.....think again.

If you still don't feel duped, your part of the problem not the solution.

Neeld always has has an enormous up hill battle ahead of him and will have especially over the first half of 2013, and I hope he gets the support he deserves.

It was never going to be easy, and wouldn't have been for Malthouse, Roos or Wallace (heaven forbid...argggghhh)

He needs to make a lot of changes, "culture", fitness and game plan being amongst them.

GO DEES

Speak for yourself. Not others.

So you're the solution? Pray tell ...

I don't feel duped as my expectations haven't been massively high since 2007. I can accept that we're crap & hope that some day we'll turn it around.

I have been angry that we seem to have effed up just about every high draft choice that we've had. That we've failed in many aspects of player development. That we thought that copying & pasting Hawthorn's list mgmt, Geelong's gameplan & gifting games to kids come hell or high water was some kind of panacea for success. That there has been barely anybody from our club that hasn't been tainted with some form of incompetence the past 7 seasons. That we've had some shocking luck along the way too. That we still display pathetic skill level & go ages throughout games without scoring. 186.

There are reasons for all of that though & I still have hopes we can turn it around. Duped would imply being mislead or letdown, yet I don't think we were ever promised a rose garden. We were promised pain now, gain later - if we're still in the same [censored] position come 2015 I'll feel duped.

Wouldn't know how to behave if we were a successful team...

Been so long.

Go Dees

No, not duped. Happy we are finally on the right track with trying to Instill a Hard brand of footy into our mellow players.

Did I expect finals this year? NO!

Did i expect better? Yes, around 11th. But I underestimated our poor fitness & the culture is worse than I thought.

But I can see it turning. The cleanout will further enhance this revolution.

I won't be going to watch Green tomorrow at all. I don't like his game.

I'll be going to watch our younger brigade & to get some fresh air tomorrow & blow out some cobwebs, Prior to us competing harder than Hell in the Trade period, & in the National Drafts.

These are MY wishes.

I dont blame supporters/members for being totally [censored] off with what has transpired over the past six years and in particular the past 2 years. Particularly when members/supporters dug deep to eradicate $5.5million of debt.

They deserve better than what the Club has served up on and off the field.

I will stick fat but I have less confidence about the Club getting it right than I ever have.

I amused by posters that they are "happy" or satisfied we are on the right track. How would they know? At best its a cry of hope.

Regardless I think the Club should be preparing for a big fall off in members and possibly sponsors. This Club has burnt people's spirit and they will walk,

The only sponsor that suits MFC is Coles......"Down, down and staying down"

I would like to disagree. But I can't.

Why turn up? It's going to be ugly.

Just go and watch Tom McDonald, Grimes, Trengove, Strauss, Blease, Tappy and Howey. Focus on the future mate.

A day at the G, some beers, a pie. Come on! It'll be fun.

Go with a positive attitude and you'll be surprised at what you see in the boys.

Don't speak for me.....I have supported this club since 1960......I have had fantastic highs.....and some horrible low during this time......at every stage...I have still bought a footy club membership even though I didn't have to(being a MCC member)....I still go to games with opitimism of a win....Will the wheel turn????....Yes it will......In my lifetime?????...Who knows....I believe that this club is doing every thing it can to improve and I hate that it will take time....but there in no alturnitive....except to walk away which is unthinkable......You either support a club or you don't......You either challenge for a board position or you can sit and critisise and feel DUPED.......Sorry about the spelling but have to catch my train to the game and support my team.....

To answer your question, yes. I don't blame Neeldy as I think he has been as honest as can be about the issues facing the club. He has been good in that he isn't as impressed as others have been by us beating up on interstate clubs as the G with the game played on our terms. He seems, to an outsider, to be cultivating a game plan that will hold up against the powerful Victorian clubs in September.

The people who I hold a grudge against are the snake oil salesmen (and some of them are still at the club) who thought, as was noted earlier, that high draft picks coupled with Geelong's game plan would automatically give the club success. As a supporter, the years 2009-2011 have been the most galling experience I have had.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
