Changes v Port Adelaide

Would love to see Gysberts and Jetta in but think fitness and conditions up North may hold them back another week or two.

Spencer & Watts, for Jamar & Bennell

Look at Morton & Tapscott if fit.

Grimes? with ankle and Bate, see how Strauss pulls up but would like to keep him in now he is up and about, we need his kicking skills and he needs to learn how to use them in senior company.

Wouldn't Gysberts be well ahead of Jetta in terms of match fitness?

And doesn't Fitzy offer more options than Big Jake as a ruck / forward, especially with Martin standing up to standing in as principle ruckman? I havent seen enough of either to make a judgement, so any who have, what's your call?

I think we should rest any player who has the slightest sign of injury this week and spare them the difficulties involved in the travel and heat of Darwin. Apart from those obviously injured, Jack Grimes should definitely rest even if the ankle comes up OK. Let's go up there with a team of 22 fit players and we might have a chance of winning and also will minimise adding to our already long injury list.

structure ??? agst the Dockers, we had two many half fwd flanks and half back flanks. Once Jamar went down and Martin into the ruck, our fwd line was all 6 footers (Green, Petterd, Sylvia, Howe, Bate). All one dimensional.

B: Nicholson, Frawley, Rivers

HB: Morton, Garland, T Mcd

c: Blease, Gysberts, Bail/Trengove

HF: Sylvia, Fitzpatrick, Howe

Fwd: Jetta, Martin, Green

Ruck: Spencer, J Mck, Jones

Int: Dunn, Tapscott, Bail/Trengove sub: Couch

emerg: Moloney, Sellar, Petterd

(put Trengove on the wing to start the game as "must" have the skipper on to start the match)

In: Morton, Gysberts, Tapscott, Jetta, Dunn, Spencer, Ftzpatrick.

Out: Grimes (inj), jamar (inj), Bennell (dropped/injured/bags packed), Strauss, Bate, Petterd, J Mcd

I get a hint you are not a Bennell fan jurrahcane!

My personal opinion is any player with half an injury won't play in Darwin, a few players get another life due to this fact

My team

Nicholson Frawley McDonald

MacDonald Garland Strauss

Trengove Sylvia Morton

Howe FitzPatrick Blease

Rivers Martin Green

Spencer Jones McKenzie

Couch Bail Bate

Sub Petterd

Out Grimes, Jamar, Bennell

In Spencer, Fitzpatrick, Morton

In: Watts, Gysberts, Spencil Tapscott

Out: Jamar Bennell Grimes* Bate

For me I dont think bate has done enough, I do like him because it looks like he gives it his all but his only standout game for me was against GWS.

Watts will play.

Tapscott hopefully fit to replace Bennell.

Gysberts for Grimes if skip cant get over his injury.

Obviously Spencer for Jamar.

Grimes has got to push through the pain.

Games to be given to those on the precipice.

Lol... It's not 1979 mate, there's this thing now called "Sports Science", you should look into it, part of it is about how playing injured probably isn't good for you.

We actually employ a guy to do this specific role, I'm not even kidding, you should check it out.

I think port is playing better football then MFC and will win simply because they are better.

No need to talk about the T word or Viney cup we are a good chance to finish below GCS & GWS after there win.

I just want to see players like Gysberts,Jetta,Cook get a run so Neeld gets a good look at the full squad going forward.

IN: Cook,Gysberts,Jetta,Watts,Fitz

OUT: Jamar,Grimes,Bennel,Trengove(rest inj),Bate

I know that.

I have selfish reasons for wanting Grimes to play through the pain...

And he damn well better!!

OUT: Trengove(rest inj)

Hey BigJim, I actually thought Trenners looked the best he has all year against Freo. Had a bit more leg, was moving more freely, played really well, reckon he might be playing himself into some form so can't agree with resting him this week.

I think he was o.k on the weekend but he has been running so slow this year and is so important going forward that i just think if any game we should rest him it's the Darwin game. The kid has had a tuff year and really needs to be looked after Just IMO

Yeah I would have agreed with you before the Freo game, but IMO it's the first time this year he hasn't looked bogged down a bit and maybe he's battling through and getting better.

Usually a rest is the key, but judging by Saturday I reckon he might just be nearly over whatever the problem was and will only get better.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
