The Mark Hutchings Thread

Ron Burgundy

Recommended Posts

Could be our next Magner. Clearance specialist.

Racking up possessions in the WAFL like nobody's business. Nailed the AFL Combine last year. St Kilda thought he lacked pace, but his stats suggest otherwise.

Perhaps a potential rookie selection for next year?

Mark HUTCHINGS (West Perth)

Well he already has reasonable taste in colours ^_^

Speed/pace is a funny thing.. Its how and when you use it often. Clearing the pill is often more about time and space . Being in the right position with the right skills and making the right bloody CHOICES !!

Then again according to 'Mark Hutchings , steal for AFL' he has speed to burn. Maybe the Sainters just got it wrong. Maybe they were concerned about OP and just didnt want to use that as an excuse.

Looks very handy Ron...you should let the club know :) We need some who move it a bit..

Mark played in the 2009 NAB under 18 Championships with names like Scully, Trengrove, Martin in front of him at draft time. At least 14 of his peers were drafted from WA that year. My records show he was worth a round 3/4 draft pick, who was hard at it and quite skillful. DOB- 25/05/91, 180cm, 82 kg. I thought he was a little flabby at the time. A major pre season would make this bloke - I wrote at the time.

I have seen plenty of Hutchings and he has been really good most weeks, looks very pacy and a gut runner at WAFL level. Seems keen to grab another chance, looks really fit for a WAFL player and could be worth rookie spot. Not sure whether I would take him or Kane Mitchell (Claremont).

Freddie Clutterbuck is also playing well but think Hutchings & Mitchell are ahead of him. Luke Blackwell probably a bit old now but also a standout midfielder at WAFL level

Are they clean stats or has his improvement come from, west coast lifestyle? I'm not trying to put this thread down. What is behind his improvement?

Apparently this kid has character in spades. Doesn't drink, doesn't party, lives with his parents - in short, a very humble young man.

That said, this is ALL hearsay - I've never met him. I think he ranked in the top 5 for 400 metre sprints at the AFL Combine too - so he's not slow.

And he's a ball magnet.

No offence RB but if the player can help us win flags I could care less if he was an addict of the highest or smashing windows on the weekends... Well not really but not a huge concern if he is a character player or not as long as he provides something to the team long term.

Your post made me crack up, but your points I couldn't disagree.

I expect you know my views on young Tom, old dee! This kid however is apparently a team player.

I was merely trying to emphasise that he has good character. Not for a moment suggesting he's another Boba Fett.

Sounds like a good prospect, but West Perth, eh? Ray Holden, Craig Turley, and Craig Smoker all came from the Western Australian red and blue mob and whilst the latter two had their moments, none of these players really had a major impact over here. Thrice bitten, twice shy? Actually, come to think of it, have we had all that much much joy recruiting from the whole bloody state over the years? Spalding was a beauty but we lost him after four or five years. Darren Bennett had a couple of good seasons before he became NFL happy.

Hutchings is not the best of the WAFL mature aged players. I would have ahead of him Kane Mitchell & Luke Blackwell both at Claremont. IMO

That could very well be true. I am not at all knowledgeable on the WAFL or its players. Was simply speaking to someone who appeared to be in the know, and he simply said this kid could be a steal.

Hence, just wanted to put his name on the MFC radar.

Yes I know RB, it was just your description seemed to be very similar to the propaganda that was put around about Ts.

It gave me a smile and I could not help myself.

I would be fairly confident we would not get another Ts and family again cannot be too many of those in Australia in any one generation.

old dee, to avoid any future T$ fiascos and inappropriate recruiting, WYL has agreed to carry out Loyalty Psych tests and Body Language tests on all future recruits. TimD has offered to do Ink Blot analysis and I'm sure we can find someone to do a Face Book/Social Media audit. You can be in charge of checking up for any underweight private-school 6-year project types.

I'm sure when all these 'Land checks are in place MFC's recruiting problems will be a thing of the past

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
