Lynch becomes a free agent next year and according to Damian Barrett the club has its eye on him. Thoughts? He'll be turning 30 in January.

When I think about our list, and then hear the words "free agent", I inevitably think "meh... why not?"

Not that I really rate the guy that much these days, but I just really want some fresh faces and mature bodies around the club.

Would be good for a year and a year only at best. Too old now and has little impact on matches. No for me!

DB meant to say a Melbourne club was interested in the big Q - he did try to correct himself.

Very unlikely we would be into the big spud, we have enough I wouldve thought.

Would he be valued on his own merits to the equal of him as part of the West Coast structure? Don't think so.

Tread carefully with FAs. I don't think Wellingham or Beams are half the players without the well-oiled machine @ Collingwood telling them where to go.

I thought Neeld was into Moneyball...not old time bingo !!

Lynch looked gone a few years back but he's playing good footy these days

I cant see us targeting anyone who has littel more thanb a year to go.

I sense we'll go for some good -better 'sound' footballers who simply cant break into theiir own sides, not for lack of ability, just their sides are set.

Neeld may look to a cpl of journeymen types with 3-4 years in them..so they could be anythng from 23-24 to 26-27 depending on type.

We all know there is too much burden placed upon too young shoulders at Melb. ( much because certain older types go missing )

Neeld to shuffle deck come years end and put a few new ( old ) cards into deck. Doubt very much a 29-30 yo is in his sights

Tough call but even as an MFC player I would find it hard to cheer this bloke on. Never liked him.

Wouldn't we be better off putting the time into Leigh Williams as opposed to targetting a player like Lynch?

Putting the time in doesn't guarantee success - you keep putting time in to Williams if you think he'll make it and that would be independent of any decision around Lynch.

My opinion is that Lynch is in the twilight of his career and over rated. Has a booming kick but other than that he's surrounded by some really good players that make him seem better than he is.

The comparison of Williams was more body type and potential role similarities so it's not independent in my mind.

I see Lynch every week (unfortunately) and I think he's a hell of a footballer. He cops it from Victorians because he's a neanderthal. But the guys played 200 games at Full Forward, Centre Half Forward, the ruck and on a wing after starting in the backline. He's a great spare parts man.

Can take a strong mark and is the biggest kick in the game.

That said, he's too old for us. He's more of the Leigh Brown to Collingwood sort of recruit.

I would imagine Neeld has his 2013 sights on players that would be part of our longer term climb to a potential flag.

Lynch has only one or, at the most, two years left.

If he were 26-27... yes.

At 30... no.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
