Casey Scorpions v Collingwood

KC from Casey

I have a feeling that 'cookie monster' is gonna grow some serious legs. Awesome nickname, great for banners etc.

But i thought everybody thought he was useless because he isn't dominating AFL as a 19 year old 196cm KP forward?

That is why i don't listen to everybody. I see us with plenty of talls to develop in the next season or two. We need quality mids and 1 or 2 small forwards. We will turn this around fairly quickly I believe.

Could not agree more with this comment. "like" doesn't do it justice.

Amazing the impatience of supporters and the media. The whole Jack Watts criticising that has been a national sport over the last

two years has been hysterical. And yet over the past week I've heard Dermott Brereton respond to criticism of Ryan Schoenmakers

by saying "Hes just a kid let him develop" on SEN, and then this morning Robert Walls defend Lachlan Henderson by saying 'Hes only

a very young kid" in defence of his lack of output. These two are 22 and 23 respectively. Watts is 21. Its great to hear the Cook is

starting to show some of the ability that meant we used pick 12 on him..Lets keep nurturing him, let him develop at a natural rate and when

he's ready reward him with a senior game...

Thanks for the updates.

I am glad that Martin seems to be back in the mix, and especially that Cook is making good headway.

Would you see Cook as possibly being ready for a debut vs GW$, depending of course on the performances on Monday?

But they aren't pick number 1's- they would probably say. Apparently if you get picked up at number 1- even though you have no say in that- you should be great from day dot. That's the way it works..

Port Melb got beaten today. If the Scorps have a win they'll be equal on top with Port with a game in hand.

Pies coming back with a couple of goals - lead down to 19 points at the 24 minute mark. Aaron Davey off the ground after a good first half.

Wasn't it mentioned in another thread that Davey has been named in the squad as a replacement for Bail who withdrew? Does playing today preclude him from selection on Monday?

No. He can play Monday if selected.

Goal on the siren after a strong mark by Tim Smith restores the lead to 19 points and breaks a run of four on the trot from the Pies.

Casey lead 11.9.75 to Collingwood 8.8.56.

Stats L.Tynan 19 Couch 18 Fieldsend 16 Davey 15 Martin 14 Gysberts 13

Goals Cook Martin 4 Couch McGough Smith

Davey has been taken off to enable him to remain eligible for Monday's game if required as an emergency.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
