Out : Watts Dunn Green(inj)

In : Barty, Anyone else deserves a call up. (Not sure who)

Not sure why I don't have Moloney Out. Could easily add him to the list but cant drop half the side.

watts out is ridiculous.

Out: Sellar, Moloney, Green (inj), Bennell

In: Martin, Couch, Petterd, Bartram

I want to drop Jamar, but I think he's a better option than Sellar, so play Jamar as relief ruckman, with Martin playing as the number 1 ruck. At least he gives you something around the ground.

Martin must come in for Jamar. His tapwork is completely ineffective at the moment and provides nothing around the ground.

Thats a fair call

Moloney - he is either totally uninterested, sulking or injured. Whichever, he must not play for MFC for at very least a few weeks. Disgraceful. All bluff and bluster.

... I can't do this tonight, too annoyed.

I'd drop half the side if we had anything decent to bring in, but I'm afraid we don't. I really don't see any point recycling the likes of Morton, Sylvia, Davey, Petterd or Bate who haven't shown any reason to be recalled. It's time we keep going for something new. I know I've been calling for it all season but I'm desperate to see McDonald have a shot at CHF. He's has a good taste of playing back and shown he can compete, it's time to try him up forward. I wouldn't be disappointed to see Watts have a go on Hurley either.

Out: Moloney, Sellar, Bennell, Green

In: Couch, Martin, Taggert, Davis

FB: Nicholson Frawley Davis

HB: Garland Watts Rivers

C: Grimes Magner Bail

HF: Trengove McDonald Tapscott

FF: Howe Clark Taggert

Foll: Jamar Jones McKenzie

Int; Martin Couch Dunn Magner

Also for those keen on bringing back Bartram I'd ask them to remember the week before against Sydney before they are so keen. He's battling a knee injury and it's not making him any better of a kick. Nicholson isn't much better but competed well on Garlett today.

Moloney doesn't want to play for the demons anymore. Give his spot to someone who does.

Interesting Neeld seemed to pay him one on one today for three quarters ( maybe he was seeing if he could beat an opponent and play accountable footy).

Out: Sellar(FOR EVER),Green(Poor bugger great effort),Dunn(Worst game I have seen.He must have woke up this morning thinking he is Cyril Rioli) Moloney(Enough chances)

In: Couch(don't ask why,ask why not?) Martin (anything is better then Sellar) Bartram (Better then Dunn) Morton (Showed more then most who have played)

Pretty please with scotch on top Do Not drop Nicho and blease stays for the year. Whilst accountability may be a weak link for them at least they run and spread and give us some drive into the forward line. You can see when they get the ball that they can run straight through the middle and give us a long kick to the forward line. Also Pretty please keep Watts down back he has great skills and has a footy brain. Yes he needs fitness and some more hardness but his disposal is pretty bloody good until he is knackered. I trust him with the footy. I know i'm being greedy but pretty please with scotch on top can we PLEASE get a new midfield coach. I would have hated to have to shout a beer or do a shot for every clearance lost today. We cannot win games without winning some clearances.

Sorry also forgot to add Pretty please if JT is holding some sort of injury Pretty Please give him a rest. No point running one of our good players into the ground for no reason.

Tynan is injured and hasn't played for a month and Couch hasn't played for 3 weeks.

The question is who can come in for Green with no Casey games for the last 2 weeks, probably Bate or Petterd maybe Morton.

Moloney should go and I would love to see Taggert but he has not had enough football after missing most of the pre season. I'm sure he would account for himself better than Moloney but they are managing his work loads as they say.

Sheahan is another one I want to see before the end of the year, he has been consistant at Casey, is a rookie, is a tall with a lot of class. Would do better than recycling the usual suspects.

I'm going to go against the grain and suggest as few changes as possible.

We were competitive for three quarters. That's two more than any game in recent memory.

I'd make sure a thorough review of the last quarter capitulation is done, and each player is drilled about where expectations were not met. But then I'd reward them with a chance to make amends. This team needs some self belief, and large scale changes won't help that.

Changes only made for injury or matchups (eg Green out if ribs rooted, and maybe Bartram in as we lacked speedy lock-down defenders tonight).

You don't think that Moloney should go for providing absolutely nothing? Or Sellar for pretty much the same reason?

Sellar should stay until Martin is ready. I want to see Clark play 100% up forward, and will cry like a girl if he does a knee or similar playing second ruck.

Regarding Moloney, when watching the game, I though he and Jamar were trying hard, even though it hasn't been gelling for them this season. I think we need these two working their magic again, if we are going to be competitive in the middle. I'm willing to persist a little longer. I read this quote on MelbourneFC later, and if is to be believed, it looks like Neeld agrees.

Neeld is not 100 per cent sure how to kick-start Moloney but he defended the midfielder's work rate.

"He's working really hard and eventually those things turn," Neeld said. "It's not work rate, effort or a lack of trying. He's doing all those things. He's just not in great nick."

That said, if he went out for Couch, you wouldn't hear me complain.

I don't usually speculate in these threads but Moloney has to out.....

I'm sorry but for a (apparent) senior player to be that ambivalent to the ball is unacceptable.

I thought he was done after seeing him up close last week, but this has to be it. But others got the bullet before him.

So if Sylvia and Davey were dropped for their poor attitudes, lack of team work and rubbish form then the same has to be applied here.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
