All supporters should not turn up to next weeks game against Carlton.

Send a message to the club and players.

Why should we turn up each week, when the players don't turn up each week to play.

Myself I,d rather stay at home and stick pins in my eyes, than watch a team that won't even have a crack.

FCS What the hell do you think that would achieve?

Seriously, what is the end result you are trying to get from taking that action?

Maybe the club would realise we are in trouble?

REALLY?

You think they don't know that?

The mind boggles...

It only hurts the club mate, and the club is it's members, you, me and everyone else on this forum.

I am shifting in my opinion as to the role of us as supporters. I really don't think we seek enough accountability from the players and board, we politely wait for things to turn around. Are we similar to the polite nice young men the club has recruited?

Kicking and screaming may not be the solution but I do wonder if it would serve more purpose than dutiful blind support.

Pretty average suggestion! Having said that I'm not taking time off work and travelling 2 hours each way to watch what they dish up! I have been going to the footy as an 8 year old since 1987 and I've never been more dissapointed then I am right now.

Time for the fans to get the whip out. For the clubs own good it needs a massive shakeup and scare. The fans have given a 100% for zero return. It didn't take the bomber fans long to get their message across because they Don't put up with crap like we do.

I won't personally abuse you. Instead I will say that this suggestion is poorly thought out and incredibly stupid.

But I don't think that it is hard to work out my opinion of those who think this a good idea.

Not going does nothing, though I feel your pain.

I'd love it if all Melbourne supporters turned their backs on the players before the game, half time and at the quarter breaks and if the few supporters remaining at the final siren could do it after the game a pretty strong point would be made.

Would only work if all did it, but...

Daz, think yourself lucky you missed the early 80's & all of the 70's

This disappointment has a familiar feel to it!

Simply can't get my head around this has been allowed to happen again.

The only single remaining factor that is keeping me afloat in my love for this club is the memory of 1987.

The excitement & emotion was almost impossible to put in to words. I crave the next step of actually winning a GF.

Sadly I think we have another long & tortourus road ahead.

What a stupid idea. Seriously. My biggest concern at the moment is players aren't turning up and you want us to go mute? We should be going to the game and expecting to see improvement week in week out. Not turning up is totally soft and indicative of a poor culture.

How would they be able to tell the difference? Would be like the Hawthorn game where nobody was there anyway. Better to turn up and go ape.

How are going to boo the players if you don't turn up?

Whats the point of booing if no one is listening?

Posted

I for one won't be there. It's seriously a little to far from New York, but I will get up at about 3am to watch. Maybe I might be the Dees lucky charm!

As John McInroe would say - You cannot be serious. Demon supporters need to make a stand and BE THERE

Posted

yeah I was going to bring up the Hawthorn game too,

the boycott is already in place, even the cheersquad barely attended that game.

Is it true that the half time contest when fans held up a Hertz banner had to be abandoned because they couldn't find any Melbourne supporters?

Posted

go to the game and write up a banner saying what you want to say. I doubt I can make it next sunday unfortunately for family reasons but ive been to most.

Screw boycotting. Fly the flag.

Seriously.

The garbage we dish up is just that. Garbage. Of the highest order.

Who are the fans that you respect the most, apart from Melbourne?

For me, it's Richmond supporters. Richmond haven't played finals since 2001. Yet they turned up week-in, week out.

Screw boycotting. Doesn't get you anywhere. Show up, be loud, be proud for the club rather than for the players. It's about the team, Norm, Ron, Robbie, the 50s, the history of this team. Not the current blokes impersonating a footy side. That's why we need to continue to go along, to show that through thick and thin we are there for the MFC. None of this pissing off to the snow business.

The Richmond supporters cant spit on their players if they dont turn up :)

That suggestion makes me ill. Dont you care about how our supporters are perceived? The coaches and players are copping enough grilling from the media. I`d absolutely hate it if the media decided to have a crack at us, the supporters. We`ve been here for Melbourne in the past, we`re here for Melbourne in the present and we`re here for Melbourne in the future and enternity.

Roll up to the 'G next week. But stay in the carpark and concourse.

It is time for the supporters (shareholders) to show discontent. This whole year is not AFL standard. Why?

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
