Yeah, Dr WTF... I think a few of us "old people" might take issue with that rather ill considered remark!

Well then those "old people" better have a change of attitude soon. Especially inside a PUBLIC forum.

...not necessarily. I know a few people who are really happy to have got out of Geelong (though most still support the Cats).

Yeah, but he's coming from Adelaide remember...

Plus he has a lot of family and friends in Geelong.

Who am I kidding?

At the same age I was desperate to leave.

offer him $1m per season. He's an absolute gun. 22 years old. hard midfielder with elite pace and skill and can kick goals. We're not paying anyone else, why not use our free cash on a young gun. Also pay-back for Scott Thompson.

offer adelaid 2 priority picks.

Add Viney + Dangerfield to our midfield next year would make an instant impact.

This midfield actually resembles a decent looking midfield: Trengove, Viney, Dangerfield, Moloney, Sylvia, McKenzie, Magner, Jones and Gysberts.

If that's what it's gonna cost, I'd rather keep the picks.

whats the deal with our team lineup always looking like it has a lop sided wing.

even the official team always looks like this with a tough not so tall player on one side and a skinny tall on the other?

It would be great to get this guy but what do you give up? our first compo pick likly to be 3-5, our second compo pick plus a player lets go with Tapscott, for me an ideal trade would be second Compo pick Col Sylvia for Dangerfield and a second round pick.

Yes, and you best remember that a public forum is a place where people are entitled to express their views with relative impunity. I would hazard a guess and say that most of us are paid up card carrying members of the MFC and are as such entitled to express a view if we believe a player is not performing. I tend to avoid criticising individual players, but I can see why some might every now and then.

Ye because we've got such a great history of turning first round picks into stars.

Dangerfield has the toughest years of development behind him in a club that takes development very seriously.

He's an up-n-coming star, ready to take on the competition. Picks 5 and 12 are speculative, might turn into duds (especially knowing our record of first round picks) and even if they become stars will take 4-5 years before that happens.

I'd spent pick 5 and 12 in a heartbeat on a dangerfield- a player who's dynamic and tough and fast and exactly what we need

Go ahead as you wish - not that I agree with you. But you do as you must. Whatever makes you feel better.

PS I for 1 believe thats why we pay our Footy Department to do the talking behind closed doors. They are professional football people that understand the modern game. Who IMHO are doing at brilliant job at the MFC today.

I don't think we've given many of our kids enough time, due to our dire needs.

But I'd agree with you to an extent, while also pointing out that I think we've clearly made the additions to the football dept to rectify just this problem.

And it already seems to be paying dividends.

You would, I wouldn't.

I'm confident we can get 2 such types with those very picks.

100% agree with this. Onya bike sunshine!

You are right about 1 thing we do represent "sunshine" - "kids" love sunshine compared to your "darkness" - "kids" love positive feed back compared to constant Negativity - "kids" love playing with their mates in-front of big overenthusiastic crowds - "kids" in 2012 hold the power in AFL football 2012.

Some clubs have recognised this some clubs the "culture" is stuck in another era.

PS "kids" love the Internet - oh and they can read just FYI - but you go ahead and get rid of your ray of sunshine. Sorry we choose to speak a different language to our "kids" - the glass is half full & the "sun" will shine on the MCG again because we are prepared to invest in our "kids & their mates"

All well and good if we were talking about 10 year olds... but these are young men (adults) who are (or at least, should be) resolute in their belief that they can play the game hard, and take the good with the bad. Yes I am against unjustified abuse of players, but have no issue with fair criticism. The worst thing you can do to anyone is to shelter them from harsh reality.

I 100% agree with you. But sadly around here we have too much modern day footy ignorance - you can tell by what they write.

Nobody every has a problem with fair informed criticism - but here much of the criticism is ill-informed opinions based in another era driven mainly by what they read in newspapers or a "simple" google search - its hilarious but sad.

But such is life.

Assuming we finish 3rd bottom.

If we could keep Pick 3 & 13.

Trade Pick 4 and a player for Dangerfield.

Use a 2nd round pick to get Viney.

That would be awesomely delicisious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL yeah your right it is laughing out loud that you have to tell our own "so called supporters" that they are the very problem that we cant attract players like Dangerfield!

- we cant even attract them if they are one of our OWN. But sadly we can all dream on.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
