There's nothing like feeling Free, to just be yourself,& chat to other ordinary people. No pretenses.

It's good to move about.

Pretense isn't a prerequisite of attending the MCC area, nor is it exclusive to that area.

A sense of decorum isn't something to pour scorn on.

Last week I ventured out of the MCC to watch the game with a non-MCC mate - I never ceased to be amazed at the conduct by some in general admin.

A few loud-mouthed richmond supporters shouting anti-semitic insults was a low-light.

I've never had to put up with that in the MCC.

Why on earth were they shouting anti-semitic insults? What was the connection?

If all our supporters in the MCC and AFL members who don't buy MFC memberships (not the $50 donation type) spent that money on MFC memberships the club would be in a much stronger position. My family used to be AFL Gold Members and are now Tridents members. The way the AFL treats us I couldn't support them anymore than I had to. If those in the MCC had the same thinking we would easily have 40K members and would be an extra few million dollars a year better off.

Posted

We would have 50k members, Gonzo...

But rpfc is an MCC member and a MFC member (Member x 3 in 2012) and about half of the 23k MCC supporters are members so we are getting there.

And the MCC pumps money in as they should, it's not a huge issue anymore.

Wow! you actually left the confines of the MCC area to venture outside with the masses; I'm impressed?

Next thing you'll tell us you caught a train to the city. Good on you Joe, baby steps first.

Joe felt uncomfortable being amoungst the common man- their loud mouths and unwashed ways was a turn off. Joe swifty returned to the safety of the MCC, where his barret wearing friends were eating watercrest sandwhiches and proclaiming "nice goal number 11" followed up by a subdued round of applause and a sip of his English Breakfast twinnings.

The only connection I can see is Joe Gutnick used to be president.

I don't think there was much rhyme or reason to their behaviour.

Yes, thanks for your input Robbie, very typical of you & the cretins who liked it.

I often venture out, but all it does is reminds me why I prefer to be in the MCC.

Where you sit should have no bearing on the respect you show for others, but it often does.

Honestly prefer the GA to the MCC - my loudness isn't appreciated in MCC

That's another thing - I'm there to watch the footy, not get into fights.

I've never had a problem mixing with the common man Joe, I'm down to earth and I get nothing but respect from my fellow cretins. Us common folk can be civilized too Joe, may I suggest perhaps it is you that rub people the wrong way and perhaps your problem that you don't get respect.

I feel you may put people off-side with your elitist attitude and your bowler hat and monocle?

When I venture out with the common swill I think to myself

"Just think sincerity ,you know you can fake it"

and pretty soon they think I am one of the ordinary .

Fools-I'm dirtier in my mind than their filthy shirts will ever be .

Yet they accept me for what I am -a Deeluded Demon dee-nying the reality .

If it wan't for the heritage of the MCC members our home ground would be Etihad, or Carara. Melbourne represents the MCG and not the City of Melbourne. Our combination of MCC and MFC is an asset nothing we should use to cause division in our club. It means we can have people on all sides of the ground. In our club I can talk to a Collins street toff, or a heart and soul lad from Casey, and when it comes to talking of the dees we are one.

MCC member for 45 years , full MFC member for 39 consecutive years. Viewing area of choice : the standing-room terraces adjacent to the Blazer Bar . Don't fall for the Couldabeens' stereotypical nonsense. I'm happy to be an MCC member AND a bit of a ratbag !

Are you sure?

I've never been into the MCC and don't want to. Being bound to the conservative rules of wearing a collared shirt puts me off. Plus, it tends to be the only drawcard for fair-weather supporters to actually attend games (and for those who feign support out of fear of being an outcast in their friendship groups).

But the MCC appear to be very vocal from my vantage point in the Olympic Stand.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
