pretty simple when you think about it. whatever holes we fill at the next trade period...the suprlus stock will go.

--------------

People forget LJ could be gone soon.

We won't delist anyone until after trade period.I expect us to get two ready made players.

Then I'm confident that Bate, Dunn, Macdonald, Jetta, Bennell will go at the end of this year. Depending on what ready made players we get.

.....

I have no inside info...but i can tell you we are working on being active in the coming trade period.

Don't know about the end of the season, but I'd guess that by 2014 ten of the following players will no longer be at the club:

Bate

Dunn

Macdonald

Green

Davey

Bartram

Jetta

Sellar

Rivers

Couch

Blease

Sylvia

Moloney

Topic is a great topic. The long term vision of the club keeps changing. We are on a new five year plan.

With respect your treatment of some players suggests the subtlety of list management and player assessment leaves a lot to be desired.

If you include Bartram in you must keep list you lose credibility. His courageous attitude is far outweighed by his very modest skills. Above all I find it hard to think of other players who have an ill equipt mind for the game. There is no ball impact dimension to his game. Its a case of stop, think, think, turn back to the goal square every time for he doesn't have the skills to implement a thrust forward. He has reached his peak and is just marking time until one of Tynan, Davis push him aside. The supporters of Clint are happy with a very modest level of performance by the demons.

Essentially players above 25 will not be part of our assault on the top four. We are again three to four years away. Its a case of managing their departure.

I think your assessment is spot on

I know we cannot clear 11 players but we need a plan about who is the future and who is not

The club must continue to make brave decisions

Years of soft and or no decisivness is how we ended up needing another rebuild after 4 years of rebuilding

The MFC is again a victim of accepting poor standard performances soft attitudes and a boys club self delusionary culture

Neeld must be supported in his desire to make so much wrong into something right

The question is hardly who do we sack.

More like who do we keep .

I can only pick 11-13 keepers and about 10 wait and sees .

Trading our best mid every year may not be the way .

No doubt about it we are going to have to make some very strategic decisions some time this year with such a good draft on the near horizon.

However, I have a feeling every player will be given a fair go to prove themselves - I could be wrong but I get the feeling Neeld clean slate comments are going to hold true for the rest of this season.

Might just be a bit early yet to think he would have any favourites. But was interested with his comments in his most recent Robo interview - although he was sledging Robbo - think he outlined what he liked in his forwards. If you dont do those things - you could/will be history.

Sylvia is our only true game breaker. He's one of our most important players. A must keep.

Bail - great athlete/runner, some questions marks about his football ability. Definitely not a mistake at pick 64.

Bennell - I still have hopes for him. I think he has enormous potential, which he can still realise with the influence of Neeld and Misson. Has pace and skill - both of which we need.

Bate - definitely has a role to play IMO. Need his hard body. Much prefer him on the ball.

Jetta - obviously a great kid. Tries all day. But I just don't know if he's quite good enough.

Dunn - by no means a superstar, but still a required player IMO.

Jetta - If or when we get him right I would love to see him given a good go off a half-back flank. From memory I'm sure I recall somebody saying in WA junior football this is where he played his best football. Absolute free reign bit like what Neeld & Malthouse did with Leon Davis.

Hopefully that then frees Tapscott to go forward to a half-forward flank where he can use the defensive skills he has learnt in the last 2 years. Plus the opportunity to kick goals from 50-60 metres out which he is more than capable of doing.

or

Grimes steps up - goes into the middle & leads from the front. Bit I would be marginally concerned we dont cook him.

Sylvia - Trade as quick as I could. Whilst he still has some decent currency. Even for a lesser player, but who shows better leadership and character.

Dunn & Bate - Keep until they are clearly superceded (not long now), as we need mature bodies.

Jetta - Fast running out of time. I'd release him.

Bennell & Bail - Keep.

Green - Retirement. There'll be no other takers.

If Bail is delisted at season's end I will be very disappointed. I think he has the goods and just needs to deliver on a consistent basis.

Same goes for Petterd. And as much **** as I'm going to get for saying it, Morton. They're all still quite young players, and a change in coach could create a major change in attitudes and output. Give them all at least one more season and see what they can do.

I will save all comments on Jurrah until after his court date.

By "One more season" i'm hoping (re: Morton & Petterd) you mean the remainder of this season, which is pretty much an entire season

Didn't Morton get signed for two more seasons last season?

Joy. Definitely not one for the "terrific list management" thread..

Yes, but I'd like to see Petterd actually playing. I'm a big fan of his and just can't understand why he is always the first one dropped after a poor team performance. He has shown that he can be a very dangerous player.

No way! I'm sick of seeing the club trade/delist our senior players for limited value.

Travis Johnstone aside, we rarely if ever win on these trades.

Getting rid of Sylvia for some unproven mid-teen draft pick would be an absolutely ordinary play. We need more class on this list, not less.

I completely agree with you. Although Sylvia hasn't and may never live up to the potential we saw when we drafted him at #3 it doesn't mean that he isn't a valuable player to our team.

I think we need to bring in a guy like Chance Bateman.

Let's get Schoenmakers while we're at it. They'll both fit right in with their elite disposal.

Come off it JM. Bateman?? I'd almost have Bruce back before that muppet.

??????????????????????????/

Get rid of the ones who will Go In, & keep the rabble & the Peas, in they're pods.

This is why some North players watching @ Casey don't think much of Dunn, & another time some AFL footballers were heard to say they liked the look of Cheney.

But many are not that impressed with the Bennell types.

Morton???

11+ players delisted looks about right now.

I would say that is on the money.

The 'Contracts' thread as it spelled out but we have zero Primary List spots open right now (Viney, Byrnes, et al are taken into account).

Pick 4, 49, PSD3, Nicholson, Evans and any Delisted FA will require 6 of Bennell, Cook, Bate, Petterd, MacDonald, Davis, Jetta, Batram, Spencer, Dunn and Bail to be delisted.
