It's the tackling, or utter lack there of that confounded me.......

The technique is appalling.

I have a very strong gut feel that their is Something wrong with the players. They look unhappy about something, thats hanging over, maybe from last year?

They look like after the half time break, they just don't feel the love for the jumper?

Posted

i thought we were suppose to be the fittest a MFC team has ever been? could have fooled me!!

We might well be, but clearly that is still not nearly enough.......

I still do not see what Bate offers the side.

Nor Morton.

When we are getting flogged in the clearances do you think the rucks maybe could belt the ball away from those tigers players at their feet.

What a [censored] side we have, I feel for Neeld, we looked stuffed 3/4 way through the 2nd quarter

Surely they must be fit after such a demanding pre season? Have they had the stuffing taken out of them??

Melbourne is delicately poised as a football club both on field and off, we can not survive another full rebuild, and that's what we are looking at.

RIP MFC.

Contemplating a 16th finish is optimistic in the extreme given today's events

Very interesting avatar mate... Just perfect to top my $hit day off...

This is not a Neeld problem....This is what he has walked into.

A club that does not know how to succeed....If Neeld spoke to Malthouse about how far back we are...i hope the entire club listens to every word.

We have a bunch of AFL kids here who have almost killed their AFL careers....WHY?

What is the MFC doing that is completely wrong?

Can someone please clarify what selections we'll get if we finish 16th? Picks 3, 4 and about 11? Which pick for Viney?

As for the game, Howe, Jones, Watts and Clark looks like competent footballers. The rest don't, and that includes our captains.

I thought Mc Donald was reasonable given the stage he's at , Trengove should be roaming the forward line like Stevie Johnson he's not a midfield speedster, Grimes hasn't had a lot of football. Almost time for the whoesale changing of the guard. In Fitzpatrick, Davis, Blease, Tynan and bring them on as a group. Convinced there are a number of our older brigade who just cant cope with the committment required.

I don't think Neeld should get off totally. Why not put Clark in the ruck in third quarter? Jamar was useless. Do something as 8 goals are kicked against us.

I'm a member of the MFC and will remain a supporter. But I regret buying my son a membership and tying him to this lamentable team. I'm not going to be spoiling my weekends watching this dross anymore.

The game plan is there. Around the boundaries, force the contest.

The problem is the midfield. We can't catch a player, we let them spread and carry without a tackle to be seen, the zone is there but just breaks down against the run and handball

Against Brisbane I thought our problem was that we couldnt execute the brave new plan

Against West Coast I thought the new plan might not be a good plan

Now I see that we actually don't have a plan..... just 18 blokes at a time strolling around the park for a couple of hours (except when we have 19 blokes out there)

So what happened over the last year..cant even compete with Toiges.....just smashed everywhere....DISGRACEFUL

The game IS changing since the 3 + 1 interchange rules change of last year.

We must be Sure we understand where the game is heading, Before we chop any players this year.

I might have been following Melbourne since 1959, but after today, I won't die wondering...

Dunne needs to start.

Rivers is a worry at present.

Given his preparation, Morton was by no means not the worst.

Desperately need Sylvia.

No this is a player problem...Mark Neeld has been around some good strong teams....The players are at fault here.

They get paid for little output, when compared to other AFL sides.

That's why they're on the bottom.

On a positive note, most of the backline did a reasonable job given the disparity in inside 50's. Vickery hardly touched the ball, Riewoldt had next to no influence - if we'd been told that before the game we'd have been thinking it was our day for sure. Unfortunately our midfield is easily the worst in the league!!

I ticked "like" to this, but there is not much to "like" about today's game and the reasons why, we are, where we are...

I'm sorry, but there are NO positives, and Bartram was part of that backline and was possibly our WORST player.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
