But even if the source was a mfc player talking to mifsud he may have said something quite harmless and mifsud has misunderstood and overreacted

Very, very unlikely IMO.

Looks, sounds and smells like one or more of our own are carrying some serious chips on shoulders.

Lots of people saying that there was a source within the club. Is there any evidence of this? Has it been reported in an article or interview? To the best of my knowledge there has been nothing said to even hint that there was someone within the club involved.

Channell ten reporting that the the source was a senior indigenous player at melbourne . The whole thing is another distraction we dont need . Our bloody season is off the rails all ready .

As for Misfud, this is now twice that he has resorted to trial by media rather than moving through the proper channels. There are procedures in place to deal with any apparent racism in the game and administration, and he has taken it upon himself to not follow them and instead to simply put it into the public forum and force the issue. This is a totally unacceptable approach and he can not be allowed to continue in such a sensitive position. In my job I too have access to sensitive and often confidential information. I can say with absolute certainty that if I were to make any of this information public knowledge I would be sacked the moment I was found out and rightly so. I can not understand how the billion dollar business of the AFL does not follow the same standards.

We do our club no favours by engaging in pure speculation about the source.

That is what Thomas did to his discredit.

There is no evidence it was from the club or a player.

Speculation here will only intensify the media scrutiny and frankly I would like us to be out of the media for a few weeks.

I'm no genius but if the source is a senior indigneous players at Melbourne then that narrows the suspects down to one.

On the contrary, as a club we will do ourselves no favours by burying our heads in the sand on this issue.

And they made it sound that way... there will be more in the actual sports bulletin in a few minutes.

Ok. We all know who our senior indigenous player is. What if he comes out and vehemently denies such an allegation? Channel 10 might very well become our FOJ sponsor with the amount of $ they might need pay up to cover defamation.

The club can deal with it on the basis of the facts it knows. My point is on a publically accessible forum those posting pure speculation without any facts are not helping the club or the players.

If anyone here has hard facts to hand then they should speak to the club.

I was highly critical of Thomas for what he did and we should not sink to his low standard as well.

Most definitely this has come from someone in the club and it needs to be got to the source of and explained. As a member I'm left with the impression that indeed there is at least one person there working to undermine Neeld. I'm not putting up with that!

They should hit Mifsud with something he would never expect.......

"Fetch the cushions!"

"Fetch the comfy chair!"

On seconds thoughts, maybe they already have!

Looks like they have dropped the senior indigenous player part of this story. Still have to wonder why Mifsud would have said anything.

Mifsud offered his resignation and Andy D said no thanks.

This guy has been throwing grenades anonymously from the trenches, trying to destroy people on the back of some sort of some sort of misconstrued perception of what Rendell is.

This bloke has no place in a position, such as his, where he is in charge of anything.... irresponsible.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
