In the Age collection, there are four very powerful images in particular that struck me with the emotion they conveyed; they were those of Gerard Healey, David Schwarz and Jeff Farmer as well as one of a woman in Federation Square, holding her hands in prayer.

I saw Nathan Carroll there too. A bit sad, on his own, not with his old mates, but obviously still there to pay his respects. He was on 'our' side of the road - with the fans and not the invitees.

It was a good moving service, although I thought it was a shame that the hearse didn't do a lap of honour around the G afterwards!

I too saw Nath Carroll. The service had finished, he was walking on his lonesome eating a dim sim. I felt sorry for him. Didn't seem to have too many old mates. Also saw Strawbs O'Dwyer in a very 'vintage' 90's olive green suit. ahha. Also saw Stinga, Yeats, The Febeys, Paul Hopgood, Brett Bailey (I think), Barry Richardson, Leoncelli (i think). Very hard to distinguish players when they are no longer playing and/or not in an MFC jumper.

It was a really moving day. It was sad and yet inspiring at the same time. We are lucky to have had Jim. The sea of red and blue was amazing. As was the demogrphics of the supporters there.

I thought Sam Stynes was brilliant when she waved to the fans and blew kisses as she jumped into the car. It was a lovely gesture.

If anyone tells you this club stands for nothing again, point them to this day. Farewell Jimma for now, we will miss ya mate. Thanks for all the memories!

Seecamp, O'Donnell, Eishold, Beveridge,Tingay etc etc...

It was very surreal having a beer in the company of these past MFC players.

Saw the photo of McDonald and Silvagni, wonder if T$ took the effort to head down with them.

I just got home, I don't even get that emotional over people I know personally.

It was very moving.

Nice to see the spectrum of people that were there. Seeing the Wiz there made me choke up, again.

I'm glad I was there, also glad I'll never have to do it again.

Sorry I missed you there- saw Deeluded however it was great to celebrate Jim's life and to continue his great work.

I tried to make out Mitch Clark in the guard of honor but couldn't pick him from afar - he was the one who seemed most affected on the day Jim died, which I must say (without knowing him) surprised me.

Very nice to see Bailey there too.

A touching and in more ways than one absolutely remarkable service to a remarkable person.

James might not have been wearing a Melbourne tie, but interestingly enough was not wearing a GWS tie either. I find that very interesting. Just watching an old game from 1998 and a very young James McDonald kicked a couple of crucial goals. What a great lineup it is, playing with Jimmy I can see James, Robbo, Ooze, Schwarz, Febey, Leoncelli and a host of others I really miss.

Wasn't able to watch a live feed up here, but just saw highlights on Fox Sports and it seemed a fitting way to send off a great man. Does anybody know if it is replayed on television or if there is a website link that people can watch the funeral on? Greatly appreciated.

Service was what he deserved his work goes beyond the Dees, I heard this poem this morning on 6PR in Perth which is 3AW'S sister station. It was written specifically for Jim after his passing, great tribute to the man.

Went to the Transport bar afterwards for a scotch as per Jimmy's request. Y & J's sounded like the place to go but nvm. Very humbling listening to Bryan and i thought Garry's "lighter" eulogy was well timed and a nice touch.

I love this club.

Fitting farewell for Dublin Jim and it was great to see the massive support in the tens of thousands.

Also visited the Transport Bar post service and I reckon Rusty our scotch's may have touched (clunked with cheers) in recognition of Jim, if you were the brothers I think you were sitting in front of me. At least I think it was my scotch as I had a few different beverages.

Not long after Yze, Woewodin, Ward, Molan, N.Brown, Ingerson, Grgic, Bizzell, partners and the likes of Hamish Blake entered Transport for a drink or two for JS.

I would say a few establishments around Melbourne saw a few past players and officials frequent.
